This restaurant is A MUST if you are here in Guanajuato, hands down the best meal I had in the city. Everything about this place was amazing. We had the lettuce/spinach salad with hearts of palms, pistachios and dehydrated tomatoes with a mustard dressing, the amazing poblano cream soup and the juicy Pesto steak with the rosemary potatoes. Even the bread and sauces that are given to you at the beginning are top tier. The service was spectacular and the restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere.

Guanajuato has this hidden gem just up the street from La Alondriga. I tried to make reservations for dinner via Instagram but didn't receive a reply so I had to have someone help me call. They answered and reserved a table for 5. Walk up a flight of stairs and you enter what looked to be a beautiful home. Three sections to dine in. I prefer the one with windows and center dinning room. Food we had a side of guacamole topped with (delicious) fried intestine, steak with vegetables, beef rib, Salmon, octopus plate. Our dessert was a cream base with passion fruit as topping. Everything was delicious and satisfying. Our waiter was helpful and attentive even as she was busy. Def a good place worth checking out.

This was the best meal we had in Guanajuato. The service was amazing. The fresh naranja drink was superb. The food presentation was beautiful and the taste was finger licking good. The octopus was tender, risotto was a generous portion and had the right amount of truffle, and the pork chop was divine. I wanted to try their famous pato dish but they were out. The setting was perfect. Loved the ambiance and the food, wanting to come back for more.

If I could give a restaurant 6 stars, Mestizo would earn the big 6. This restaurant was recommended by a local friend of my host on this trip. Not far from the Casa de Diego Rivera, a beautiful but unassuming staircase leads you up to two small dining rooms and a large separate bar. We sat at a corner table facing an open window decorated in honor of Women's Day. Furnished simply with contemporary art adorning the walls, we started with cocktails and I chose a Tamarindo Margarita. Served in large colorful glasses, the tart fruit of the tamarind was delicious with the tequila and Chile salt that rimmed the glass. Smooth but not sweet. I shared a very large starter of white fish ceviche served with light and crunchy tortilla rounds. The ceviche was a perfect blend of fish marinaded in a lime salsa. For my main I had the pork ribs with a honey Chile sauce. The ribs were extremely meaty and tender and the sauce was delicious. Others in our group had a delicate octopus dish that was the best I've ever tasted, a pork chop with a white mole, a classic chicken mole in the traditional chocolate Chile style that everyone of the 5 of us except me since there was flour in the mole, said was the best mole they had ever eaten, and a filet that was so good, this guest said he would come back the next night and order the same. My ribs came with mashed potatoes with basil that was both creamy and wonderfully crunchy at the same time. One in our party asked if he could buy some mole and after checking to see if they had enough to sell, brought out a well wrapped container filled with a quart of this black gold. Two of us shared two desserts, a fantastic chocolate cake and I ordered the lemon custard like dish with passion fruit glazed on top and seasonal berries. Simply epic food perfectly presented. I look forward to returning to this incredible restaurant.

House of crack. Insane flavors. I would ask for their soup and filet on my deathbed as my last meal. And they won't break your bank after medical cost bankrupted you. All wait stuff in America should intern their level of attentiveness. Ambiance is unpretentious unlike its greatness. A must go in Guanajuato

The location is a bit of a walk from the center but we'll worth it, the mole is amazing. Best mole I've had in a long long time . Definitely worth checking out .

Beautifully plated ceviche tasted as good as it looks

You get an option of 2 main dishes to choose from and typically most people go for the Enchiladas Mineras. You can get the Enchiladas with or without chicken. Unless you are a vegetarian, go for the chicken. The chicken is so soft and flavorful and the enchiladas have the perfect seasoning. The cheese, carrots, potatoes all are such simple but powerful additions to the dish that you cannot help but almost lick your empty plate within minutes. The pickled jalapeños and carrots that are served on each table are so delicious and the jalapeños have such a nice kick to complement this dish. I also ordered the hibiscus juice, which honestly has such a large serving and is a must here! The place does get crowded at around 7pm with a line, especially since there are not that many seats. After almost an hour wait (trust me it is worth it), I was seated. If you come alone or with just one person, chances are, you will be sitting with strangers and making friends as you eat.

Unfortunately, for us anyway, they didn't live up to their promise. It's a fairly long taxi ride to get to. People talk about the "amazing views," but only a couple of tables can see them, and they are not at all amazing. Just a jumble of houses and utility wires with some hills in the background. The restaurant itself is very charming and warm, and the staff is polished and welcoming. Things started off well with the nopale appetizer, a very delicate but umami-infused dish. But then the main courses were very disappointing. I had the sous vide beef short ribs with a tlilchili sauce on a bed of a few black beans and red onions. Sounds great, doesn't it? I was expecting "fall-off-the-bone" short ribs. Instead I got a dried-out chunk of meat that I could barely cut with a knife. Terrible. I could only eat part of it. My partner ordered a chicken dish that was bland and also a bit dry. We both ended up leaving half of our entrees - which we never do. We were still so hungry, we had to get tacos from a stand by our hotel afterwards. Not worth the effort or the price in my opinion - such a let down.
