Philly sandwich

Staff was great and the food was delicious. I will definitely dine again my next visit.

Burger, fries and club salad. Angle shot of salad which is actually much larger than picture shows

Beth and myself just had burger and salad here. Was ok. My burger patty was thin and smaller. A real opportunity here for them to have amazing foods and create huge customer group from distance towns. Do handmade, larger portions...even their own made bread buns, everything from scratch. Lots of people will spread the word. Every place like that I have been to, quite a few in fact, got customers standing in line waiting to get in.

Five stars. Yes, it is possibly the only bar around, and while they could probably get away with a lot less with that kind of exclusivity, they don't. The staff genuinely seemed to care, and the prices were quite affordable. Not to mention the menu had a lot more options on in than I anticipated, and there's plenty of room for groups too. I had the combo pizza, a Prairie Pride beer that came in a 16oz mason jar, and a large chocolate malt. All of them were wonderful. In a side room, they had a pool table(possibly a second as well.) and a foosball table, while in the main room, they had an old school looking jukebox and Mrs. Pacman/Galaga. Additionally, I would like to point out that they had two bathrooms for your convenience.

It's 500 miles from home and I've never heard of this place. Why am I receiving these unsolicited reviews from an unknown source

It's okay. Two stars is just about correct here. You can get a full belly and some cheap beer.

Good, reasonably priced food. The only game in town most evenings. Nice people. Good bar.

Hojo's is the latest iteration of the local bar/cafe/gathering place in Holbrook, previously named…read moreSmitty's, Wayne's (I think), plus some other names over the past 40 years I've been going there, and it hasn't changed too much during that time. During the day it serves as a spot for farmer's to gather and play cards when it rains (and sometimes when it doesn't) and drink coffee in the morning, then quick dinners at noon (note: in this area "dinner" is at Noon, and "supper" is in the evening). It's the only place you can eat in town so you can't be too picky. They have a nice menu of lunch and dinner items, most of it fried or meat of some kind, but a few salads and other things. Frankly the quality of the food mirrors who's cooking at the time, sometimes excellent, sometimes not-so-much-so, but usually pretty good. I think they have a Mexican food night too, and usually a daily special. But it's mostly a bar, even with a little "off-sale" section in the back to buy beer or liquor to go. In the evenings it's again a gathering place for locals, this time primarily to eat, drink, and socialize. While the patrons during the day are mostly older, the younger crowd can come out at night...sometimes. Regardless you may get some long looks when you enter and are unfamiliar, but everyone is always friendly and accommodating when we've visited (having six local brother-in-laws in the early days helped me assimilate a bit but I digress...). It doesn't cost a lot to eat or drink here. You can have dinner for two (sorry - Supper) plus a couple of drinks each for about $30. And if you make some new friends (and you will) you'll probably find you won't owe anything for drinks at the end of the night. It's not the fanciest place around, but it's homey, fun, small town America at it's best, and worth it just to check it out.
