Poor customer service. Booked online in advance, received a text canceling my appt less than an hour before the appt. I called to speak with them and no answer. While they can cancel with customers with no notice, customers must book with a credit card and will pay $50 to cancel with less than six hours notice. Found this to be a bit frustrating and hypocritical. Had planned an event around the haircut, now will go without a cut and style! :( read more

Made an appointment last week for today at 10:00am, currently 10:30am, via text with the salon that they initiated after I joined the waitlist for a weekday evening appointment. My stylist has not called or texted. The salon appears closed even though I confirmed my appointment every time I was requested to do so as recently as this morning (see attached proof of this). I had to arrange child care in order to have this appointment and arranged my entire weekend around making it happen, incredibly upset and disappointed. Charlie's running an old-school salon, the type you find in small towns where a stylist sets up a solo practice and develops a client base that stay with him for years. I absolutely love it. My haircut is amazing and exactly what I'm looking for - I've been getting compliments on it all week at work. Charlie also did a fun blow-out for my hair since I was going to a play that night, which I loved! My hair feels great even two weeks later, and Charlie gave me pointers on the types of shampoos and conditioners I should be using to keep my curly hair healthy (apparently "whatever Costco's selling in a huge bottle" is not the correct answer) without trying to sell me on any hair products. I'm always annoyed by the hard-sell that a lot of bigger salons try when pushing hair products - they're obviously getting a cut, so it makes you wonder whether they're really recommending the best treatment for your hair. No worries about that whatsoever with Charlie! I'm done flipping between high-priced crowded salons in the Scottsdale area. Between the convenient online booking (go online to Amaro Hair's website to book instead of calling in, since Charlie is solo practice and can't pick up the phone if he's with a client) and the high quality cuts, I'll definitely be returning. read more

I asked if he could fix my layers & bangs the best he could before I walked for graduation the next month. I can not say how happy I am that I went to him that day. He fixed my haircut & it looked perfect! He asked a lot of questions about what I wanted & would explain to me what he was going to do so I could get the hair I wanted. I have been going to him every few months since then! Recently, I decided to change my hair up for once & get a shaved undercut. He took his time & made sure I liked my end result. I had an appointment scheduled and received a text message the day before that my appointment had been cancelled due to a client testing positive for Coronavirus. I understand the cancellation, but would have appreciated a phone call instead of just a text message. I made another appointment and an hour before my scheduled appointment, they called and said they were cancelling my appointment due to the air conditioning being out. I don't usually write reviews but I feel like businesses should be held responsible for time wasted and doing this to people. I'm going to start giving businesses reviews for doing this. I message to schedule an appointment and the person assuming it was Carlos said he has availability the next day when I agreed and told him I have Groupon the guy's tone changed and took a while to text me back saying it's for a specific stylist and he has openings next week 7 days from the day. That's not true I read reviews on Groupon that the service was done by multiple stylists and it doesn't mention anything about that. I'm tired of these businesses treating customers like that because they have Groupon. They need to stop advertising their business if they are not willing to take Groupon and act like this. We need to keep this trend going to hold businesses accountable and stop doing this to customers because they don't make much profit out of Groupon. read more

Horrible place to get a haircut. Had an appointment with one stylist and was switched to another one. Did not cut my hair in front of the mirror. When I left the part was off which caused the top of my hair to lay funny. I made an appointment the next month with the original stylist only to be sent a text message that the salon will be closed for 2 weeks, no explanation. They also do not wear masks, nor ask for their customers to wear them. Too unprofessional and ended up going somewhere else. read more

This place completely scammed. Good customer service means talking to and working with your customer especially in the hair industry. Not all people understand the intricacies of hair styles or have the right styled pictures. I really tend to not be very picky with how my hair is done and most who have done my hair, cut and discuss as they do it. I enjoy trying out new places and giving reviews after but this place was completely rude. After paying through app they refused to cut my hair and pushed me out. That is just not how u treat people if you cannot cut hair then don't have them pay before hand and then not pay back. Also expectations, rights, and responsibilities need to be laid out before hand. If you want a picture or need more details then ask for that before someone pays, books and appointment and everything.. If you can't treat people right don't expect them not to be mad if u shove them out the door without any options or repayment. If u say to come back, how exactly is coming back going to help if u can't do your job today then what makes u think you can do your job tomorrow. People have limited time and budgets but the empathy for the customer is not there at this place. Treat people right and be up front and honest with your services. If you don't want people to cancel on you then don't cancel on them. If I canceled last minute according to the policy you double charge. I didn't cancel last minute I showed up on time, slightly early but you canceled for no reason and shoved me out the door, yet no refund compensation or anything. Fortunately was lucky enough to be able to get a same day appointment due to a cancellation, and he was easily accessible via text message! I was in dire need of a chop, and after showing Charlie a few photo references from Pinterest, he got right to work! I'm new to the area and Charlie was so friendly and helpful in giving my boyfriend and I some suggestions on things to do and places to check out. He also gave me some suggestions on how to care for my hair, but never seemed too pushy. I really loved the aesthetic of the salon: it's small and quaint, but nicely decorated and very homey-feeling. I also was fortunate enough to be the only client in the salon and I loved the one-on-one attention I received. He was very cost-effective for the area too.
