Bad reviews all start with a bad experience someone had with the business, mine is no different. However, I think everyone that reads this needs to take a few minutes to look at the large number of bad reviews this doctor's office has built up over the past 6 months or so. As so many have stated in their negative reviews, this business was purchased, merged or was taken over by integrated pain management, some big clinic that could care less about their patients. I am going to interject a plea with anybody reading this. PLEASE read this and all the bad reviews and stay away from this "doctors" office at all costs. If you don't heed this warning, it will come back to haunt you, and you will regret the day you decided to go here. If you're a current patient, it's only a matter of time before you too wind up in the trash heap of anger customers. I've been going to pain doctors for a number of years. Never in my entire history have I seen a more unprofessional, Unknowledgeable and VERY untruthful Nurse Practitioner's. I would highly recommend and I do mean HIGHLY recommend staying away from this office. The lack of empathy on their part is very astonishing. Their pure unabashed arrogance is difficult to deal with and in my opinion, gets in the way of adequate health care. Also in my opinion this particular Nurse Practitioner would do better getting her real estate license and stay away from any and all health care facilities. Dealing with her was on of the worst things I ever tried to deal with. I have significant amount of health problems, and I deal with several doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. I've not had one problem with any of them ever, just this one crazy NP and Amarillo Spine. That should speak volumes about her! But wait there is more. Due to the awful treatment from this NP, I put in a call to the office manager in Amarillo. She called me back and we had a very pleasant conversation. She told me that she was going to check on this problem for me and see what she could do to help. She said I'll call you right back, that was 5 days ago and nothing, not a call, just nothing. What you need to glen from this is there is a cancer that has invaded Amarillo Spine from the office manager all the way through to the providers. In hind sight I now know why I had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every time I went into this place. It's full of dark foreboding people. I also agree with all the other bad reviews of this place. It was a great place when Dr. Lee was there, he was caring and a warm human being and a great doctor. I'm very sad he left. In short I and a whole bunch of others have written bad reviews of this place. You've been warned, go here at your own risk, but if I were you I would just find another place. After the sale to Lubbock SI about December 2025 or so I was told they would not be treating any patients unless they are having a procedure but they will fill my prescription however it was going from 5 pills a day for 5 years to 4 pills a day because well if I broke my arm the pain medication wouldn't work. The amount of rudeness I experienced while I was there with the new doctor group was disgusting. I am concerned with my back pain and if and when I did break my arm them we can cross that bridge when we get to it. I was struggling to get to a place where I can function and be free of pain as much as possible but I knew being pain free will never be possible. The visits after the sale went from once every 3 months to every month just for money from the insurance company. Nothing changed, nothing different just come in every month. I show up in February 2026 and I was asked what day would be good for me to go to Lubbock? Why would I go to Lubbock I don't want to go to Lubbock. She said I needed to have a consultation with the surgeon before surgery. I said I am not having more back surgery I have had 11 surgeries with the spinal cord stimulators (two) and the spinal fusion. They scheduled me for surgery without my knowledge but got the insurance authorization apparently. I got referred to another pain doctor by my Primary Care Physician that is taking good care of me and wouldn't recommend anymore surgery at all, ever, for my back pain again. This place is just in it for money. Been a nurse for close to thirty years. Was supposed to be scheduled for steroid injection and go over MRI results. Both my wife and I work 12 hour night shifts. They would not schedule them on the same day around the same time. It so they can bill you twice. Stay far away from these crooks. read more

so when you are in so much pain you can't get relief they tell you they can up your pain meds and there is nothing they can do for you this place is trash and I must say that they aren't even willing to help you at all why treat your patients like this is not right or fair we come to get help and get nothing. read more

My biggest concern with seeing a doctor for my back pain was that they would assume I was seeking pain medication and not take my concerns/pain serious. I was scheduled for a consultation for pain after x-ray/mri showed pretty serious problems and referred by my primary care doctor. When called about the appointment by Dr Lees office I was told that it was a consultation and would have to keep it under 30 minutes and I would not be given pain medication. Today, after arriving was taken to an exam room by a nurse. The nurse asked normal questions that I was assuming would be asked. She was very short and matter of fact which is good. Then she asked about the anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer that was prescribed by my Primary Doctor, which I told her it didn't work and I stopped using the muscle relaxer because it wasn't working and it have a fear that I will be addicted to prescription pain medication. She then asked if ibuprofen helped. I says that it helped dull the pain. She responded with a laugh saying "that's funny, because they are basically the same medication." Once the doctor came in he asked me to stand and point to my back where the pain hurt. He felt around a little then asked me to sit back down. He then said that he would give me a different anti inflammatory and different muscle relaxer and would need me to go to physical therapy before he would see me again in a couple of months. We had to ask about the results of the MRI. He then grabbed his little toy spine and said that in this area I have arthritis. We then asked what it was written about the "spinal stenosis" in the MRI report. He said that it said it was mild so it basically meant that my spinal cord area was only closed off by 10-15% which shouldn't cause any pain. He then turned around and told his nurse what he wanted for the prescriptions, waved and said nice meeting you then left. Nothing was mentioned about the 4 bulging discs or the compression fracture of my vertebrae, and we weren't given the option of asking. For sure he didn't give us the chance to go over the "30 minute consultation time" that was given to us. He was in there less than 5 minutes. We were then left with the nurse who took time sending the prescriptions to the pharmacy then said follow me. Got the paper for physical therapy and then sent us home. Once we left we found out that the physical therapy paper wasn't even fully filled out. Just overall a horrible experience. It felt that he didn't care about me or my back. It felt that he didn't want to take the time to explain anything or answer any questions. And it felt like he thought I shouldn't be in any pain and was just there seeking pain medication. From this experience I would look at other options before scheduling an appointment with this office. read more

This is the WORST pain management facility! Dr. McKenna is HORRIBLE has VERY VERY AWFUL bedside manners. All he cares about is money money money point blank. This place is ran worst than a zoo Im sure you would get treated A LOT better at a zoo. This man is VERY clueless when comes to doing a procedure when I went in for one the nurse and him were on 2 complete different pages as far as what procedure he was gonna be doing SMH! I DID NOT get and sedation due to my vein blew and I told the "nurse" that told me she's been a "nurse" and doing this for 15 years and she didn't seem to pay no mind to me what was so EVER. Mind you this lady WAS NOT A NURSE her badge said MA. When I was taken to procedure room and the lady from down the street I say this because she NEVER INTRODUCED HERSELF TO ME OR GAVE ME HER Job TITLE so for all I know is she was just some lady. As this lady asked McKenna what to give me for sedation McKenna responds let's use the same stuff we used last time. UMMMM EXCUSE ME this is my first time McKenna says oh you never been back here like seriously ‍ Yes I understand doctors have several patients I'm not the only one but we also have a chart so they can look at and go over or at least that's what a GREAT doctor does. So nobody cared to listen to me about my vein being blown in my hand and it swelling the "sedation" they supposably gave me didn't go in so with that being said I felt the WHOLE PROCEDURE which had me in tears I yelled loud nobody seem to care or was paying attention it was HORRIBLE the only reason I didn't jump off the procedure table was because I could of easily been paralyzed. When I called the office to complain and explain the whole situation the nurse with also HORRIBLE bedside manners just wanted to argue and be very unprofessional to where she asked me what was it that I wanted her to do I mean REALLY what type of question is that? She then put Dr. McKenna on the phone which was pointless I got NO WHERE never did I get any type of apology or explanation matter of fact McKenna told me he didn't have time to listen to me talk about UNPROFESSIONAL BUT ONCE AGAIN ITS ABOUT THE MONEY THERE!!! I have dismissed him and found me an AMAZING DOCTOR WITH MANNERS AND VERY CARING!!! I wouldn't recommend McKenna to NOBODY matter of fact I wouldn't even take him my dead dog yes he's that BAD!!! Last thing when I requested my medical records there is false information that was NEVER done.Ummmm for your information JJ A I wasn't turnt on no meds. I was very pissed off as I wrote the review. And have you heard of auto correct well that's what happen on my posting. And yeah I WAS NOT GETTING NO HELP FROM THIS SORRY PLACE! And if you must know I'm not one to like to be on medications who in their right mind wants to live on PILLS? I'm saying that's all they Dr. McKenna and his nurse practitioner Mary wanted to do was keep me on pills n pills just to waste my TIME AND STEAL MONEY FROM MY INSURANCE having me go bk every 2 weeks that's BS AND POOR PRACTICE! For your correct INFORMATION I HAD TO TELL THEM LOOK IM TIRED OF PILLS AND PILLS I WANT SOMETHING THATS GONNA WORK otherwise I'd probably still be there like a dummy but NO I PUT MY FOOT DOWN AND SAID IM NOT LEAVING THIS OFFICE WITH MORE PILLS DONE PERIOD SO GO AHEAD AND LET THEM KNOW! and if you must know I didn't take all the unnecessary pills they were giving me. This place is just a zoo hell a zoo is probably better than there. His staff cant even start an IV they have very little medical knowledge hell I have MORE MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE THATS WHY THEY DIDNT WANT TO DISCUSS my issue bc I wasn't dumb falling for their bs excuses. Like what LVN asks a patient what do you want me to do ummm HELLO DUMB didn't you go to school if they have to ask you that then that should tell you ENOUGH! LIKE IM HERE BC I DIDNT GO TO "school" like you otherwise I'd be taking care of myself . Dr. McKenna is way toooo DANG CHEAP TO HIRE THE RIGHT AND GOOD MEDICAL STAFF like an experienced RN with years of knowledge and to be head of office instead he has a LVN not too long out of college with VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE try an airhead! And has MA's starting IVs what a shame. Therefore this place is Trash and they don't care bout their patients they are just there for a damn paycheck!!!! I have more MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE!!! I'm glad I left this facility and I'm in VERY GREAT HANDS WHERE IM GOING NOW WITH REAL MEDICAL KNOWLEDGEABLE EMPLOYEES AND NOT ZOO EMPLOYEES. I will NEVER TURN BACK TO DR. Mckennas office!!!! And how about you try and read their corporate office reviews in LUBBOCK VERY HORRIBLE i should of read them before accepting an appointment with Dr. McKenna corporate is a JUNGLE!!!
