Stopped by for lunch today and glad we did. Had the lunch special Chicken Tikka Masala and it was one of the most authentic tasting dish we have had, outside of some places in San Diego and Prescott, AZ. The ambience is well kept, the service was attentive and quick and the food was presented in a neat way. Will be back to this hidden gem! read more

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with a family friend at Amar India on a Tuesday night. We were seated right away & started with appetizer of Vegetable Samosas. Then we both enjoyed main dishes of Saag paneer with mushrooms spice level 3 and Lamb Korma along with garlic naan. Our meals were hot from the kitchen & the naan was just right. Thanks for great service & meal Amar India read more

We checked out Amar India for the first time this evening and enjoyed it very much. Even though it was early, they were fairly busy with a lot of their food going out through take out. The restaurant was neat and clean. Unfortunately they ran the loud vacuum right next to our table at 5pm which was annoying...maybe invest in a a non-powered bissell for quick pickups during meal times. Our meals came out quickly and they were piping hot! Steam rolling off of them. I got the chicken tikka saag and my husband got a lamb dish and of course we had to have naan as well. His lamb was good but I think my chicken dish was the hit of the night. We'll definitely return! read more

First time trying Indian food and general and I chose this place because of the reviews and location by my house. The place is small but very cute and clean! Our waitress was very nice and attentive without being pushy even though it was that busy. I wanted to go back the next day the food was so good! read more

Nice meal we stopped in for an Indian feast. We started with the fried peppers that were spicy and tasty. Moving on we had the lamb curry and chicken tika saag. Combined with the onion Naan and it was a great meal. The wait staff was attentive and on top of the service. Highly recommend stopping in to a great meal read more

Hidden Gem!!! I had to spend the Christmas holiday alone in Dayton for work. Amar India was one of the few places open on the holiday. Service was so warm. My server was so kind and gave great recommendations. I let him know I was an Indian foodie newb and he suggested a vegetarian dish that I would've never ordered on my own-- Saag Paneer. That with the garlic onion naan was so flavorful! One of the best tasting dishes ever and I had plenty left over for another meal. When I asked for dessert, he actually recommended that I visit the Indian grocery store next door and took my phone to type in the name of his favorites Rassgulla and Gyoabjamun. Such a wonderful dining experience and the desserts and service from the grocer were incredible too. I will visit every time I am here for work! read more

Their free Thanksgiving buffet earns this place four stars. The food was hot, fresh and very good. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly. Go in don't order out because their to go portions have shrunk substantially but it's still great food. read more

Our favorite local Indian place. Really miss the lunch buffets, but guess they are gone for good. I usually prefer dinner menu because the lunch menu has several things i dont want. So even at lunch, i usually order off dinner menu. I dont eat much meat but i do like their Tikka masala and vegetarian entrees... then we share. The nan bread is a must ...any flavor but usually get cheese. Im a spice wimp, so get a 1 level of spice. It's still a little spicy but perfect for me. If i have sinus issue or a cold might be able to do a 2. Service is consistently good. I reread my previous review and i totally dont recall any language barrier. We come here often and i totally dont remember that being an issue. The hours listed on yelp arent correct i know they are closed on Monday. read more

Pretty good food I would say, I had it at a graduation party and liked it. The naan was pretty solid.

Came in here for a casual lunch. Nice decor with the arches and color palette. Comfy booths. Server was pleasant; no complaints. Good portions for the price. I like my tikka masala entree. Actually made me crave Indian for the next few weeks. The yogurt side and veggies were well seasoned as well. Fresh naan too. Wish this place was nearby so I can come back. Would be my go-to lunch spot if I was a Daytonian. read more

I ordered take out. Bread, I wanted to try som different than regula/traditional naan, so I got the Kashmiri Naan. Not what I was hoping for but it was fine. I love lamb and I ordered the Lamb Mater. It was so good. The sauce was one of the best I ever had. The meat (lamb) was just ok. I was in Dayton, OH for work and if I go back again to this area I will definitely order the Lamb Mater again. read more

I was in the mood for Indian food and I found this place on Yelp. The ordering process was disorganized and food is a little pricey. I ordered the lunch curry chicken and naan bread. The food was good, but I ordered a 4 hit level and was very disappointed. There was no spice in my food. It was an experience. read more

Good food , fresh Indian food. The thali was great and also the chile bhature and dal makhani. The surprise was the spicy naan. I had the pleasure of dining in today at Amar. The servers were very patient and attentive without being overbearing. My daughter in law and I both had the lunch special of Curry Chicken Spice Level 3. It was the perfect spice level. The Naan bread was soft and flavorful and the vegetables well seasoned. I was so full I couldn't eat the dessert. My daughter in law stayed for a bit after 2pm the end of their lunch service and we weren't rushed by the servers to leave. I will definitely return! read more

Amar India, no wonder it wins award after awards. Fanatics food, great and clean environment and service to keep that 5 star rating. They are so nice and kind to the point they make you feel special. You can ask for less spice or more spice to each entree. The lunch menu has about 8 items that range from $10 to $15. The chicken tikka Marsala is really really good, great taste and the naan bread comes out warm and soft, naan bread any other way just doesn't cut it. The saag was full of flavor too and I don't like veg plates, but I'd eat their saag paneer. Ooo and their portions are so filling, the price is worth the portions. So thankful we have an Indian restaurant in Dayton like Amar India, it's tops in the area for a reason. Come check it out and enjoy some great Indian food and culture. You'll love it!! read more

"Spectacular, give me 14 of them right now." This chicken tikka masala had me practicing gluttony to the fullest extent. Pictured in this review is life changing cuisine. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE. I implore anyone considering trying Indian food for the first time or looking for a good restaurant to stop over here. The ladies serving were very polite and attentive. It was a very calming environment. The lunch portion was extremely satisfying & I cannot wait to go back. Hubby and I went to this restaurant for a dinner date and the place is beautiful filled with attentive staff. We were able to get our drinks/appetizers/main course in such a quick manner. Thoroughly enjoyed the food as well! Level of spice is 2! remember you can always add spice but it's hard to take away. We can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. My daughter wanted to try Indian food so we decided to try Amar India and wow! This restaurant didn't disappoint. It smells amazing as soon as you enter the restaurant and the atmosphere was perfect with light music playing. My daughter was stunned and said "it's fancy". We decided to try the paneer pakora to start and it was good. They had three different sauces that you could try to go with them. The chunky red sauce was spicy and ended up being my favorite. My daughter was a fan of the citrusy green sauce. We both ordered the Chicken Curry at a spice level of four and wow! That is hands down the best curry that I have ever had in my life. I officially have a new favorite food/restaurant. The service was phenomenal and we will definitely be back. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. read more

I love this place. But to be honest, I also just love Indian food. I'm not very adventurous. I stick with the basics, chicken tikka masala, Samosas, tandoori chicken, etc. Service is good. I've never had a problem with an order. In particular they pay attention when I tell them the heat would like. read more

This was the first spot where I've tried Shahi Paneer and for that I am infinitely grateful. The food was delicious but I was disappointed that they did not take me at the word when I said I could handle hot food. I tried to make it clear I could take it, but my food was barely spicy. For this I cannot give 5 stars. Service was pretty quick, staff friendly, and I was happy they used reusable dining ware - something I was upset about the lack of in the Dayton area. Would definitely come back. read more

Used be our go-to for Indian food...not anymore! We ordered carryout last night and could not have been more disappointed. Seems like all we got was a bunch of sauce! We ordered a chicken dish. We found three (3), that's right three (3) BITES of chicken in it, not even enough to make one whole piece, and they were so dried out, they really weren't edible. The saag had 3 little cubes of cheese in it. C'mon! How expensive is cheese? As I said, it was nothing but sauce, which costs next to nothing, but we did receive a healthy portion of price tags for each dish! Never, never going back or buying any food from there again. Cheapskates! read more

I'm so happy this place was open on thanksgiving! Our family didn't want to cook this year so we were glad to have another option. The lunch special is super affordable. I'm reawakening to Indian food... Never "loved" it back in the day, but have been convinced recently (thanks, Mike G!!) to give it another try, and so glad I did!! Don't order from Amar India. We ordered saag paneer, garlic naan, and vegetable samosas. They were really tasty. A+ flavor. They get a 2-star rating because they were stupid expensive for the amount provided. For example, the saag paneer was served in a child's portion but it was $19.00. Absurd. An oasis in a wasteland of bland mall-chain restaurants. If you want food with actual flavor, come here. Food is excellent, and servers are friendly. The ambience is nice and comfortable. The menu has lots of vegetarian options. Not a surprise at an Indian restaurant, but if you're a vegetarian looking for a meal, know that this is a great option. For non-vegetarians, there are also chicken, fish, beef, lamb, and goat options. I ate here with a colleague, and we tried one veg option (shahi paneer) and one non-veg option (chicken tikka masala). Both were delicious. They use a heat scale of 1-5, where 1 is no heat and 5 is max heat. I appreciate that the scale is real -- I ordered my food level 3, and I felt a moderate burn, which is exactly what I wanted. PS: If you're at the nearby hotels without a car, this restaurant is safely walkable in about 15-20 minutes, as long as you're OK with a short hike on a grassy shoulder along Miamisburg-Centerville Road (no sidewalk on that road). read more
