We checked out Amar India for the first time this evening and enjoyed it very much. Even though it was early, they were fairly busy with a lot of their food going out through take out. The restaurant was neat and clean. Unfortunately they ran the loud vacuum right next to our table at 5pm which was annoying...maybe invest in a a non-powered bissell for quick pickups during meal times. Our meals came out quickly and they were piping hot! Steam rolling off of them. I got the chicken tikka saag and my husband got a lamb dish and of course we had to have naan as well. His lamb was good but I think my chicken dish was the hit of the night. We'll definitely return! read more

Hidden Gem!!! I had to spend the Christmas holiday alone in Dayton for work. Amar India was one of the few places open on the holiday. Service was so warm. My server was so kind and gave great recommendations. I let him know I was an Indian foodie newb and he suggested a vegetarian dish that I would've never ordered on my own-- Saag Paneer. That with the garlic onion naan was so flavorful! One of the best tasting dishes ever and I had plenty left over for another meal. When I asked for dessert, he actually recommended that I visit the Indian grocery store next door and took my phone to type in the name of his favorites Rassgulla and Gyoabjamun. Such a wonderful dining experience and the desserts and service from the grocer were incredible too. I will visit every time I am here for work! read more

Nice meal we stopped in for an Indian feast. We started with the fried peppers that were spicy and tasty. Moving on we had the lamb curry and chicken tika saag. Our favorite local Indian place. Really miss the lunch buffets, but guess they are gone for good. I usually prefer dinner menu because the lunch menu has several things i dont want. So even at lunch, i usually order off dinner menu. I dont eat much meat but i do like their Tikka masala and vegetarian entrees... then we share. The nan bread is a must ...any flavor but usually get cheese. Im a spice wimp, so get a 1 level of spice. It's still a little spicy but perfect for me. If i have sinus issue or a cold might be able to do a 2. Service is consistently good. I reread my previous review and i totally dont recall any language barrier. Came in here for a casual lunch. Nice decor with the arches and color palette. Comfy booths. Server was pleasant; no complaints. Good portions for the price. I like my tikka masala entree. I ordered take out. Bread, I wanted to try som different than regula/traditional naan, so I got the Kashmiri Naan. Not what I was hoping for but it was fine. I love lamb and I ordered the Lamb Mater. It was so good. The sauce was one of the best I ever had. The meat (lamb) was just ok. I had the pleasure of dining in today at Amar. The servers were very patient and attentive without being overbearing. My daughter in law and I both had the lunch special of Curry Chicken Spice Level 3. It was the perfect spice level. The Naan bread was soft and flavorful and the vegetables well seasoned. I was so full I couldn't eat the dessert. My daughter in law stayed for a bit after 2pm the end of their lunch service and we weren't rushed by the servers to leave. Amar India, no wonder it wins award after awards. Fanatics food, great and clean environment and service to keep that 5 star rating. They are so nice and kind to the point they make you feel special. You can ask for less spice or more spice to each entree. The lunch menu has about 8 items that range from $10 to $15. The chicken tikka Marsala is really really good, great taste and the naan bread comes out warm and soft, naan bread any other way just doesn't cut it. The saag was full of flavor too and I don't like veg plates, but I'd eat their saag paneer. Ooo and their portions are so filling, the price is worth the portions. So thankful we have an Indian restaurant in Dayton like Amar India, it's tops in the area for a reason. Come check it out and enjoy some great Indian food and culture. You'll love it!! read more

My daughter wanted to try Indian food so we decided to try Amar India and wow! This restaurant didn't disappoint. It smells amazing as soon as you enter the restaurant and the atmosphere was perfect with light music playing. My daughter was stunned and said "it's fancy". We decided to try the paneer pakora to start and it was good. They had three different sauces that you could try to go with them. The chunky red sauce was spicy and ended up being my favorite. My daughter was a fan of the citrusy green sauce. We both ordered the Chicken Curry at a spice level of four and wow! That is hands down the best curry that I have ever had in my life. We found three (3), that's right three (3) BITES of chicken in it, not even enough to make one whole piece, and they were so dried out, they really weren't edible. The saag had 3 little cubes of cheese in it. C'mon! How expensive is cheese? An oasis in a wasteland of bland mall-chain restaurants. If you want food with actual flavor, come here. Food is excellent, and servers are friendly. The ambience is nice and comfortable. The menu has lots of vegetarian options. Not a surprise at an Indian restaurant, but if you're a vegetarian looking for a meal, know that this is a great option. For non-vegetarians, there are also chicken, fish, beef, lamb, and goat options. I ate here with a colleague, and we tried one veg option (shahi paneer) and one non-veg option (chicken tikka masala). Both were delicious. They use a heat scale of 1-5, where 1 is no heat and 5 is max heat. I appreciate that the scale is real -- I ordered my food level 3, and I felt a moderate burn, which is exactly what I wanted. PS: If you're at the nearby hotels without a car, this restaurant is safely walkable in about 15-20 minutes, as long as you're OK with a short hike on a grassy shoulder along Miamisburg-Centerville Road (no sidewalk on that road). read more
