What a pleasant surprise! Not only i didnt expect to find an indian place in middle of Ohio but also a great tasting one. Very impressed with Prem's! They source all the meat from farm. Its very tender and freshly made. We've tried the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, the non veg thali and chicken fried rice. The food took a while but rightfully so as they all tasted fresh and delicious. The meat is outstanding! Tender and falling apart from the bone. The naan is as close as it could get to one you would find in india. Highly recommend to go check them out. Plenty of parking. Seems to get busy over the weekend. I give zero to Prem Chennai in Centerville oh. Awful service and owner is revengeful if you tell tell her the food was bad next time she will make sure she give you food from the customers left overs. She has dark heart. And bad intentions for customers. Many people I know have stopped going to her restaurant Prem Chennai. In colas there is few channa and all water and stale and if you complain she starts cursing and fighting. She should be in I dia and not here where customers come first. We have never experienced this sort or of behavior in any other restaurant and we have been in this country 50 years now. My husband and I honestly love this place. The food is amazing, and the service has honestly been improving over the years. Today, we ordered 3 items. The waitstaff repeated the 3 items, and we confirmed. We got 2 of the items fairly quickly and happily ate while waiting for the third. Approximately 40 minutes later, the first 2 items were finished, and we eagerly awaited the last. After another maybe 15 minutes, my husband went up to the counter to ask how much longer the last item would take. The waitstaff assured him it would be 10 more minutes. Another 15 or so minutes passed and nothing. I convinced my husband to ask them to just put it in a to-go box. When he went up to pay and request the to-go box, the waitstaff then admitted that the item had never been put in. We said never mind to the last item and asked to just pay for the two. The waitstaff never apologized. I'm sure we'll be back eventually because we love the food so much, but it is exceedingly frustrating to wait so long only to find something had been forgotten, what's more to have been misled that the item was coming soon when that wasn't the case at all. This place continues to go downhill... First, stop harassing customers about giving the tip in cash... The food was meh... I ordered spicy and a mild buttered chicken but they gave us a mild and a medium. Ok, whatever.... But then they told us the wrong one. The mild was for my daughter and she was trying it for the first time and she thought it was too spicy... well they gave her the medium. We swapped. Well... it's still medium and I ordered spicy,... Sure... but I kept pulling tendons out of the chicken in both entrees. Now back to the tipping... every visit they ask us to pay cash for tips. I don't carry cash and when I do, I prefer to keep it for other things. I've heard some servers say the owners don't give them the tip when it's on credit card. That seems like they need to be reported. Maybe it's true but other servers say they don't want to pay taxes. Both can be true. Both are wrong. Owners should give their servers the tips. Else they should be reported... I did. They should pay their taxes. I'm sure you can make the case they don't make a lot of money. I empathize. That's another problem to be solved. But not a guilt trip every time I'm there and forget to bring enough cash. I also don't feel compelled to bring cash for them to cheat on their taxes. read more

This is by far my favorite indian restaurant Ili have tried in ohio. The food was authentic and so close to how it would taste in India. They served fresh and tender meat. Good place for delicious dosas and coffee! Our friends recommended this place for Indian food. It was overall great! The only thing in mind is that the food does take a while and some of the staff are not always the friendliest. Some of our friends asked the staff for some chutney to eat with some of the appetizers and got told by the staff that the food does not go with chutney walked away. I am going to start this review based upon our single visit because I believe that first impressions can be important. Everybody has a first time at a restaurant... The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall in a no frills location. The interior is nothing fancy and the tables and chairs couldn't be more ordinary. But what we found was extraordinary was the service and flavors. As one of the folks that waited on us explained, they specialize in southern Indian cuisine though they also have northern. What's important here is that there are menu choices way beyond what is "normal" than most places and the staff were there to help. Honestly, the menu could improved with some photos and explanations but I am excited to expand our horizons on our next visit. Here's looking for an expanded commentary after that. read more

She sat us at a different table when she noticed the one we were sat at originally was dirty. Food took a little bit to come out but not unreasonable, and it was a bit pricey for the serving size. Also, it was really sweet compared to other Indian places we've tried, which wasn't bad at first but it really got to us towards the end of our meal. The naan, however, was very tasty! This is a hidden gem of a place. The flavors are bold, authentic and the staff are very polite. Don't expect a fancy restaurant but the food does the talking. Typical comfort Tamilnadu (South Indian) style food. I tried their Dosa with chettinad chicken curry (5/5) very good. I tired the Chicken Biryani (4/5) the taste and spicy was very good. Prems Chennai Delight has good Indian food. If you are judging on only the food, this is one of the best places. The service here isn't bad, like some others have said. Its prices are just kind of high. You can't get enough food for what you pay for it. I had the eggplant curry. It's about $11 for the lunch portion. This wasn't a huge amount, so it's surprising it cost that much for only this. Other than that, it was good. They adjust the spice for you. It's best when it's hotter than medium. The hottest spice is kind of overpowering for the item's taste. This place has really good food. Service is okay. The prices could use some adjusting though. read more

I ate cauliflower. I know that sounds like a weird statement, I hate cauliflower. I mean HATE. I haven't eaten more than a bite or two by choice in my fifty years. But my husband ordered the Gobi 65 appetizer out of curiosity for our table, and it came out. He was astonished at the flavor, the crispiness, then... I ATE A PIECE. Then I ate another and another and another. It was so good, is hard to describe, but maybe like a thin tempura, perfectly crispy, but red and delish. I really can't believe how unlike cauliflower it was. I might get it as an entree next time. Second visit we got more Gobi 65, because come on, we were dreaming about it, and I tried the goat parrotta (if there is goat, I get goat). If I had to explain it, it would be like If you made biryani with shredded croissants. Like Indian Thanksgiving dressing/stuffing. And it was great. A little warmer than I'm can take much of even mild but great enough in couldn't stop eating it. If got hotter after packed up, so I doubt I'll be able to finish the leftovers, but next time i'll order it even milder, if I can, because it was good. I went to this restaurant three times and each time there's some nonsense experience. The final time I went, the salted lassi had way too much salt to a point that it was bitter. I informed the owner that the lassi was way too salty and she straight out said, "don't order it next time" and she took zero accountability for a bad food item. She was Rude! This is the best South Indian restaurant I've been to (I am Tamil, hence the street cred) in the East Coast. I normally don't like South Indian (specifically Tamil) restaurants outside of India because the flavors never come close. And I prefer home cooked dosa since restaurants usually make them too thin and crispy for my taste. But for the first time, a Tamil restaurant caught my eye. So much that we made it twice in one week. The first time, we got the set dosa, kothu parrota, veg korma, and gobi manchurian. The second time I got kal dosa with fish curry and parotta with chicken curry. I was breaking my fast, needing some home cooked food and the set dosa (like a thick pancake) was perfect. The chutneys and sambar were excellent. I didn't like the gobi manchurian because it had a weird synthetic artificial ketchuppy taste (probably MSG related) which I have seen in poorly made gobi manchurians. I've spent a lot of time and stomach space studying gobi manchurians in India and this doesn't come close. But the kothu parotta combined with veg korma made up for this and it was excellent. The veg rava dosa with potato masala which I stole from my mom's plate was also amazing. The kal dosa with fish curry was a disappointment because the curry was sour and tasted like puli kulambu which was not what I was expecting. The parotta with chicken curry was excellent, especially the parotta. Overall, a solid South Indian place in Dayton! read more

We popped in on a very COLD weekday afternoon while doing some last minute shopping and were a bit concerned to find the place almost empty. But, by the time we left, the place was almost full with nearly all other guests being large groups of Indian families meeting up for the holiday. And, I know why. Prems serves up some mighty tasty, and really authentic South Indian cuisine. Now, if you're looking for the standard Americanized Indian buffet then you should keep looking. Prems clearly sticks to their regional namesake with a strong focus on Dosai. Our waitress was spread thin covering all of the big tables, but was very helpful in recommending some things. I had the non-veg Thali which included a selection of nine really flavorful dishes that let me sample several things without committing to one. I also nibbled on my wife's dosa and curry. I drove 40 miles to try their food, but it was a waste of time and effort. I reached there at 1:15 PM Sunday (they close at 3 PM) and ordered Goat Biriyani and Goat Paper Fry gravy. The server came after almost 45 minutes and said Goat Biriyani was over and asked for an alternate item. How come your main item will be over before 1 hour of closure? Anyway, we had to manage with Chicken Tikka Biriyani. The server got the Goat curry (almost full of hot water, no proper gravy) first and we had to again wait for 15-20 minutes for so called Chicken Biriyani. It was just like chicken curry added to Rice and then cooked for some time adding some spices. Overall the staff were pathetic, ambience is just like any cheap road side restaurant in India (table was not stable as well). I stopped in to Prem's Chennai Delight after a morning at the outlets. It's been on my radar for a while after hearing about it from some friends, and I'm really glad I did. I haven't tried much South Indian food before, so my wife and I went with a friend better versed in this cuisine to help direct us. Food: We started with vada with sambar. The vada was fresh and pipping hot. Went amazing with the sambar and the chutney. We followed the vada with Madras dosa and chicken 65. The madras dosa comes with an awesome potato dish folded into the dosai. It comes with two large dosai. The chicken 65 was also super fresh, very crispy and flavorful. It wasn't a very saucy chicken 65 though, just a heads up. We also got the set dosa with chicken curry. Would recommend avoiding set dosa and just getting regular dosa. The set dosa wasn't quite what I expected, more a soft pancake like consistency, but the chicken curry was super fresh. Service: We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and found the place mostly full. With 2-3 people ahead of us, we still didn't wait very long to be seated. Our order was taken quickly, and food came out somewhat piecemeal but came out as soon as it was ready. Every thing was super warm and fresh. We had to remind the server for our drinks, but they do seem to be pretty busy with a minimal staff. Facilities: The place is pretty bare bones, with simple tables and chairs. There's a small area with some seats for waiting. It's clean, and just what you need to enjoy a delish meal. Honestly, I thought the food was ok. In my opinion, this place has been inaccurately hyped up on Yelp. The inside is, as others have put it, sterile and without decor. The server seemed amateur and was consistently unable to answer questions about the menu items and give us any direction on what to try and what the signature items were. I ordered from what Other Yelpers had posted. Otherwise, I would have been lost. I'll never go back because I fear I've developed a taste for Americanized Indian cuisine and this place doesn't compare to nearby places like Amar India and Chatt Cafe. I tried the dosa. It was ok. The tikka masala (I know not the most authentic dish) was pretty terrible. I went with a group of five and we all were disappointed in our choices. If you're looking for a review that argues this place is or isn't good for "authentic" Indian cuisine, I won't be able to help. My daughter had been begging for dosas all week. We went here to satisfy the craving and immediately after walking in she tells the nice woman working there that she already knows she wants a dosa. Once she comes to take our order my daughter very excitedly asks if they have a dosa the size of the table! The woman laughs and says she can ask them to make one especially for her. I was shocked when they actually did, my daughter was beyond excited! I also ordered some mushroom masala which was soooooo tasty. Everything tasted amazing!
