I was hesitant to go to this restaurant when a friend suggested it. I admit it - I'm a snob when it comes to Italian food. I lived in Italy, married an Italian cruiseship cook, and had daily home-cooked meals by my Italian husband, in-laws, and friends. So I was truly reluctant to sample the menu. Exceedingly surprised and delighted by the Amalfi Rigatoni Arrabbiata, I found the pasta to be boiled to perfection - al dente and just ever so lightly angry. The quantity was perfect for me because I was quite full and still had to take a portion home. Despite my satiety, I had to sample the limoncello dessert (similar to tiramisu, but made with limoncello). Tears welled up in my eyes. I remembered my husband's cooking (he passed in 2008). I was satisfied with the service. The manager waited on us. At first, he recognized my snobbery....lol....then after much conversational exchange, an air of respect emanated between us. The atmosphere was one of reserved elegance. Dimly lit, quiet conversation ensued. For couples, Amalfi's definitely encourages the romantic spirit. I'd like to see more recipes, but I'll take depth over breadth. Nice Italian music in the background would seal the deal. read more
