We had a high pressure leak inside the wall on the 2nd floor. Due to water seeping into the subfloor upstairs, we would need to replace the master bath vanity and flooring... plus a good portion of our downstairs kitchen and hardwood bamboo flooring that transitioned into the dining room/living room was ruined as well. Because we didn't have a huge budget, some contractors didn't even want to come out!! Others didn't even return our call. Unlike a couple we actually met, Amado (the owner) came out to our home personally- very nice touch. Amado received and relieved our anxiety. He offered understanding and empathy to our situation. We had a good feeling about him. Difficult kitchen issue. Most of the kitchen was damaged, but not all. Our slate backsplash and granite countertop needed to be saved. With today's prices, there was no way that we would be able to replace these items. We had an (ok) budget. Full replacement of our hardwood cherry cabinets would've been very expensive- we felt some could be salvaged by the right carpenter. Full replacement -especially with supply chain issues and price increases in the last year or so, would have put us well over our budget. Amado introduced his Finish Carpenter (Omar) Head Painter (Julio) and all around skilled "can fix just about anything" Handyman (Beto) he assured us that his team could achieve these repairs- matching the cabinets- saving the granite, saving the backsplash, installing bamboo flooring, and making all upstairs repairs without exceeding our budget by too much. Three other contractors we met told us we would need to demo the entire kitchen and replace all cabinets. $$$ ...BTW- shout out to the 2 José's and Amado's son Felix, who were a great help as well- especially during the vanity cabinet/countertop construction. Amado got back to us with a reasonable bid and work began! We knew it would take a while because of supply chain issues, and then a few of the guys ended up with Covid ... they also had to work around our busy schedule- and they did. When all was said and done- well- the pictures speak for themselves!! They were even able to save us additional money by salvaging our huge mirror in our bathroom. Very appreciated! never showed up for the estimate and didn't call to cancel or reschedule. This is NOT a fake review. We spoke Wednesday at 3:25 pm regarding the work I needed done. I then sent him my address and we agreed he would come at around noon on the following day. He never showed up and never called. I'm seeing he's done this to others.Maybe he's hoping that accusing people of fake reviews will get them taken down. I was referred to Amado when I sent out a Yelp request for a job involving replacing six bathroom sinks that I would provide. I sent Amado a photograph of the existing sinks that had the faucet hardware in them and a photograph of the new replacement sink that had no hardware. It was obvious that the job involved taking out the old sink and hardware and putting in the new sink and installing the hardware. Amado told me that the cost of the job would be $1,350. When Amado's son and another worker arrived, they called Amado who then told me that it would cost more to take out the faucet hardware and install it in the new replacement sink. In other words, Amado claimed that his proposal was to enlarge the cutouts in the countertop only, and it was supposedly my responsibility to remove the existing sink and hardware and then install the new sink and hardware. Amado was just enlarging the cutout in the countertop. I spoke to many others about the job and no one had the bizarre understanding of the job that Amado had. Amado then told me that it would cost an extra $175 per sink to remove the hardware from the old sink and put it in the new installed sink. After a lot of back and forth that didn't justify Amado's misunderstanding of the job or decision to increase the price, and because Amado wasn't making sense, I then asked what the total price of the job would be. Once again, Amado further increased the cost of the job and responded that he would charge $700 per sink for a total of $4,200. I sent Amado's workers home and found someone else to do the job for $1,740. Be wary of communication problems with Amado and excessive proposals. read more

I had a water leak on Friday afternoon reported by my tenant. I wanted to resolve it that night and no leak detection vendors were available until a few days later. I know water can cause a lot of damage so I wanted to act fast. Amado does stone work, construction, and plumbing. He was the only one who responded on a Friday night. 3 hours later we opened the ceiling, found where the leak was coming from a neighbor upstairs. It was a faulty angle stop that a plumber from the neighbor left dripping into my unit. We prevented any further damages and was truly appreciated. read more

If I could, I give 10 stars!! Amado was amazing to work with. I gave him the measurements of a custom table I wanted made, counter top height, 8+ feet by 3 feet, to fill a pretty large empty area of my new kitchen. He drew up the plans for the table and I was shocked when I saw the drawing - a double pedestal table - I have no idea how he did it - the table is huge and he made it from just one slab of granite including the pedestals. The table was completed well within the timeframe he promised and delivered yesterday. The table is beautiful, it's beyond what imagined when I first started this project. BEWARE!!! I wouldn't give them a star.. They destroyed my home.. 7 months waiting for cabinets that weren't worth the money. Terrible paint job with scratches and when they removed the glass from the old doors they broke the wood and didn't bother filling it. Painted right over it. Looks terrible... I had a water drain issue in my backyard which he told me he would open the concrete all around my home and replace the drains and fix them all and fill it in with concrete and stone to match my existing stone work. He said he was going to replace the pipe under my driveway all the way to the street. He did nothing what he said he would. He opened an area in my patio and a small area on the side of my home. Laid stone which the concrete was a different color and laid the stone different with a large grout rather then small grout between the stones. Not to mention the drain cap on my side yard is much higher then the pad that the drain is useless. He said he'd fix it.. that didn't happen..he left it... He charged me $12,000 Never finished the electrical work. Destroyed my floors.. added to existing tiles I had and they Promised me I wouldn't be able to tell it was an add on. Wow what a lie that was. Grout space was 1/4 wide compared to my older grout space. The difference was so noticeable. Amado wasn't even there to over see the job when they installed the tile. He came by after when I was checking on the work myself and called him upset. At that point I said look at this mess how could you let this happen.. he told me put a rug over it.. put a rug over it??? Who says that to there customer. He wasted my money buying the tiles and installing it wrong. Now I have to tear it all out and have someone professional replace it again. I have to pay double for his lack of care and quality of work. It doesn't stop there.... He had me buy quartz months ahead of schedule for installing then tried to make me pay a storage fee.. A storage fee that's right.. at that point I had , had enough of this nonsense. I fired him.... and not soon enough I hired another fabricator who went to Amado's shop to pick up my material where I met him and Amado. Amado said if I didn't sign a document releasing him from the job he would not give me my Quartz material. He's a BIG BULLY!!! I signed a release for the cabinet job but not the rest he still owed me a fire place and to repair my floors. So what does he do.. He hand wrote the other contract numbers which were not finished on the paper I signed made a copy and hands it back to me.. All he cares about is his pocket book. He hires people that have poor quality and skill bad workmanship they don't know what there doing then charges you big bucks...you'd be better off picking someone up from Home Depot then to hire him.. read more

If you want to install granite counter tops, first you go to a granite warehouse to pick out the granite slabs you like, there should be tons to choose from, and then ask for couple recommended contractors, and the chosen contractor would come to your house to do the measurement, planning, demolition, and a couple weeks later, the finally installation. You buy the granite slabs through the contractor. In my case, I went to Marble Unlimited, and they recommended this Amado guy (and one other). Amado is a licensed contractor and the owner that does the actual work with help. I was a little comprehensive about him because he's been around for couple dozen years but has basically no reviews on the web. But since the other recommended contractor was busy and couldn't take the job, I decided to take a chance with Amado, solely based on the recommendation of Marble Unlimited. I asked Amado why he's got no reviews at all, he was confused and said he is old-school and didn't know anything about computers. Well, I told him he's better start paying more attention on having good reviews online if he wants more business going forward... especially if I am handing over a $5k check upfront for him to buy the granites. Anyway, I would consider my job to be on the bigger side for residential houses: replacing all countertops with granites in my large kitchen, and 5 more large bathroom countertops. The job was done in about 3 weeks including putting up new kitchen wall tiles. Some design changes along the way, but he was able to adapt. At the end, there were some imperfections, but with a simple text, he came himself and took care of them. We basically communicated via texting (no paperwork after the initial formal work order). Note that I went to Home Depot initially, and as a comparison, I believe I got far more beautiful granites, paid 1/3 less on price if not more (Home Depot will nickel and dime you to death until the cost is more than twice the basic amount for the granites and installing them: detach plumbing $99 each, reattach plumbing $199 each, remove existing tiles cost by sq ft, etc), and without the rigidities of the Home Depot process. I am very happy with the result. I have another granite job at my other house, but in that case, just 2 small bathroom countertops, so I will see how he performs in smaller jobs... stay tuned on that review. UPDATE (Nov 2016): Just moved into my new house and gave a call to Amado for a much smaller job (one 4x7 kitchen island and one 2x4 bathroom countertop + sink). This time, I went to his shop to select the granites from his own collection - he has plenty to choose from. Called Amado to help drill a hole into a granite counter top for a water filter install I was doing. He sent his son out in under 30 minutes, who carefully drilled a 1 and 3/8ths of an inch hole perfectly while making sure there were no cracks anywhere on the brittle countertop. After that, he cleaned it up and left it looking good as new. I got exactly what I asked for - and for a great price! I would highly recommend Amado's Marble & Granite for any of your needs. We just had our kitchen remodeled and wanted grant counter tops, we called Amado and his crew. Amado came to our house and took measurements, gave us a price (which we thought was very fair). We made an appointment to meet Amado at a showroom to pick the slabs we wanted, he told us which ones were of better quality than others, what colors went with our cabinets,eat. We picked out the slabs, and Amado made arrangements for delivery. A few short weeks he called and set up installation. He and his crew spent 2 1/2 days here and the job turned out beautiful. He matched the grain between the tops and backsplashes where he could, We had a very complicated window surround which turned out perfect. He and his crew were vary pleasant and professional and made every effort to make the job as perfect as could be. Amado was a LIFESAVER!!!! Thanks to Sears incompetence, our new oven arrived and did not fit into the space of our old oven. I called Amado....on a Saturday afternoon.....and he not only answered his phone but got my address and came out within the hour. He gave me a fair estimate, and went right to work. Earlier this year my husband and I were remodeling a home, and wanted to update the kitchen and baths with granite counters. Our realtor recommended Amado, so we asked him to come and give us a quote for the job. He came and we were very impressed by him - he was helpful with ideas and gave us a reasonable quote. We picked out the granite, and he was able to do the installation in a time frame that suited our needs. He and his crew were awesome, we were very happy with the results. The counters were gorgeous; they definitely added a touch of class to the project and were positively commented on by several people. Fast forward to a week and a half ago when we were in need of Amado's quality craftsmanship again. We recently purchased a new home with an island - which the builder installed with a seam down the middle. Finding this unacceptable, we called Amado and explained our problem. He came out two days later, took measurements and said he could give us what we wanted - a seam free counter top with a 12" overhang. We met with him at the granite yard, he showed us different slabs and explained what was good and bad about each one. We picked one and he said he'd be able to install it in less than a week...which was yesterday. The crew came and did a very careful demo of the existing counter, then installed new sub deck and added steel strips to help support the overhang. They installed the counter, cleaned it and the surrounding area to our satisfaction. We cannot say enough good things about Amado and his crew. We respect him, his skill and craftsmanship.
