We needed pruning of 12 trees: 5 Crepe Myrtles, 2 Aging Cherry Trees, 2 four year old olive trees, 1 aging Apricot tree, and 2 larger trees in my neighbors yard. When Matt, the Division Mgr, came to our home to give us an estimate, it was obvious he was knowledgeable, experienced, honest, and a nice guy. My gut told me I didn't need to look any further. It isn't often that I take the time to write a positive review on any Company. Amador Tree Service warrants such a review. The personnel are professional and work together like a well oiled machine. The equipment they use is simply the best, which is important when climbing trees. Their prices are fair and competitive. ( I obtained 3 estimates) They clean the site like they were never there. ( Must have been Boy Scouts) How do I know all of this? I know because Amador Tree Service did a job for me involving large and heavy leaning Oak trees that were a threat to my home and Family. The trees were sadly diseased and capable of turning my home into a taco. (Nothing is quite like a tree in the living room) Amador Tree Service set up specialized rigging that pulled my trees away from my home while simultaneously cutting the trees down. The trees dropped exactly where I was told they would. They cut the trees and dropped them about 180 degrees from where they were leaning. I learned that such "heavy leaners" can "barber chair" when cut and are capable of severely injuring /killing anybody near them. Using a lot of rigging to different trees they were able to cut the tree and gradually remove sections of the bottom before letting it fall safely. I have used other tree services and found Richard and his crew nothing but honest. We had a huge old growth tree that had to come down. Sad but it was gone inside. They brought a climber in and they got it down without a single mistake. The tree was over 170 years old with a truck over over 6 feet around... Not your typical project. He does things right, safe and with care. If you want cheap, fast and rushing without safety... Use somebody else. Two Sacramento firms were scheduled to work on this project... Fast, efficient, honest work by this company. Richard was great to work with as he was responsive and gave an honest and fair quote. Richard and his crew arrived on time and completed all the work that was agreed upon (tree removal, stump grinding and chasing roots). They left the area clean and free of any branches, leaves, dirt, etc. This is one of the only contractors I have worked with that provided honest estimates and completed the work without any headaches. We used Amador tree service, to fall two large trees . Requested an initial quote, and it was considerably more than another quote I got from another company. I let the owner of Amador tree service Know what the quote was and gave him the opportunity for the business at the same price, which by the way was not chump change. The quote was for taking down two fairly large trees and pulling an additional tree out of our pond, and cutting the branches off and cutting them up into 18 inch rounds. The work was completed in one day. I would say this is a very reliable company but be sure and make sure of what you are paying for. We were never given a quote to mulch or clean up the fallen trees, I think he just assumed because the price was lower than he wanted to be paid that we didn't want to do any more work on the property. When the trees came down they took out a fence, which I know could not be avoided but when I asked the owner if they could come back and cut up the larger trunk pieces that were in the way of repairing the fence he said that I would be charged for that. By the way these pieces were not 18 inches they were much larger, also a few things were broken in my yard that should've been moved when they took the trees down, had a light post that was knocked down some potted plants that were broken .I'm still finding things that were broken. I think the biggest letdown was the fact that one of his guys, told me that to just let the owner know about the fence and if we have any issues cutting up the larger trunk pieces that he would have no problem coming over and helping us with that, and when it came down to it this was not true at all. He was not willing to do anything unless I paid him more money. So it's a tossup as to whether you should use this company or not, I would say if you do just make sure what you are specifically paying for and hold them to it. He worked with us to get a time that suited everyone. Came out and was up front and informative. Gave us a quote and promised the work to be done three days later. Sure enough they show up and were fast, thorough and honestly, considerate. I didn't even think to most my plants and they did it and moved them back at the end. Again at the end he walked us through it and notified us of some potential work later down the road. He didn't try and sell the service, he just gave us the information. Our mountain cabin was a foreclosure that needed maintenance. Amador came, and in one day removed some dangerous HUGE trees and trimmed manzanitas that had lots of dead wood mixed in. They chopped small stuff, raked up where they worked, conscientiously removed and replaced fences to create clear areas for fall zones, moved huge logs onto an area accessible for pickup but out of the way for use, and placed rounds for stools to use with a fire pit and others to protect our septic system from heavy vehicles. Over Promised and Under Delivered (and then the hateful lecture and threat) Richard said his four man crew could fell all the bull pines on the property in two days and would use the third day for chipping and clean-up. On the first day, only 3 people arrived and it became very clear two of them barely knew how to run a chain saw. They worked for about 6.5 hours total and left after only felling 6 trees. I called Richard and asked him how he planned to fell the rest of the trees in a day and leave time for cleanup on the third day. He assured me that the second day would be a "high production day". By the time I left on the second day at 2:00, the three man crew (still short one man) had dropped a few more trees but nowhere near all of them. On the third day, they finally had the four man crew that was originally promised and in the afternoon, Richard himself was out there getting his hands dirty. They managed to drop the burned trees and even chip some with their "baby chipper" (why didn't they bring the big one??). But, there were still a lot of bull pines standing and very few were chipped. I calculated that the hourlly rate based on his quote to be $52.00 an hour and suggested that we reduce the original quote due to them being short a man two days. Richard agreed but said we would "part ways" and not do business again because I didn't feel obligated to pay the full amount when he didn't deliver an experienced crew or a full crew as promised, nor did they complete the work he said they would. What concerns me is what came next. Richard proceeded to tell me "how it works" in Ione. He explained that it is a real small community and said I was alienating myself from it by questioning his work. He then gave me a barely veiled threat, saying that he knew all the locals and assured me that no one would want to do business with me in the area. He went on a diatribe about how people from out-of-county cities come in and buy property, "running from all their big city problems but then bringing their big city problems to the area" and that locals don't like working for them. He assured me I will be forced to get all my services from another county. Richard was quite a prejudging, arrogant fellow with a big chip on his shoulder. He doesn't know anything about me yet tossed me into his predetermined city-slicker category, which he obviously detests. If you are new in the county, you might want to find someone else to work with or get everything in writing up front. read more

We had Amador Tree service come out to thin and trim a large oak, dead branches from our maple and a small oak that was looking more like a giant bush. They did a phenomenal job. Our large tree had been neglected for at least the past decade. Our trees look beautiful now! They brought a chipper and chipped up everything they trimmed, cleaned up, explained to me why they removed what they did and why they left certain areas alone. I really appreciate that they took the time to show us their progress, give detailed explanations of their work and request that we have them out in a year to check the growth progress of the tree they did the heavy work on. My neighbor recommended Amador Tree Service when he noticed a small tree down on my property. Richard the owner came by and said that he could cut up the tree into firewood size chunks and dispose of all the small branches for a reasonable price. I then had him give me an estimate on removing a leaning pine, a couple of small, dead blue oaks, and a very large oak that had several dead limbs hanging over one of my outbuildings and a rotting trunk. His estimate seemed very reasonable so I had him place me on his schedule. We made an appointment about a week and a half ahead. He and his crew showed up during the time window and got to work. Removing the large pine and the blue oaks was a fairly easy job. The large oak (about 60') however was another matter. It had large branches overhanging both my outbuilding and my house. Not to mention I am a ham radio operator and have several antennas underneath the tree. His climber ascended the tree and was up there for several hours but managed to cut the tree down without bending one piece of aluminum. The trees were all cut into fireplace size rounds for me to split later and all the small branches were chipped onsite. All leaves and droppings were cleaned up and the driveway was blown clean before they left. All this was done at the quoted price and I am happy with the work. read more

During one of the heavy storms in April/2019, a huge Pine tree (3ft diameter) on my property suffered severe damage with a large limb breaking off which cracked the entire tree, and was blocking the main driveway to the house. Richard came out fairly quick to assess the damage. We discussed the options to address the huge Pine limb/tree removal as this tree could not be saved, and Richard provided a reasonable estimate. Although I have an alternate driveway, and it was not an emergency to have the limb/tree removed ASAP, Richard realized the inconvenience, and was able to schedule the work within a couple of days.
