Amada has great communication with their clients. Their offices are easy to reach and the caregivers are very helpful.

The staff-nurses, cna's, Arnp's even the chef- were professional, kind and provided care you don't see in healthcare settings anymore. I could not have asked for better care for my mother and the support they offered families was exceptional. The staff here should be very proud and understand that the care they provide really does make a difference to their patients as well as the families trying to work through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

I am 34 years old and just starting my journey on hospice care. Despite a year-long and strict "no…read morehospital trips under any circumstances" came to Franciscan Hospice House because my pain was unmanageable, which I have previously gone to ER's to aid in getting some relief, but was the only met with indifferent, yet judgy doctors who labeled me as a drug seeker, and didn't care if there was anything wrong with me. Especially considering I have an issue where I metabolize medication too quickly, making it far less effective, and making me need higher doses of everything, which does not go over well in the ERs. I had to become used to the fact that if I were going to an ER visit or a hospitalization, I was going to end up going home in worse condition then when I had gotten there, pain-wise. I was told that this place would be different in hospice is different, but I still expected it when I came here a couple nights ago. I was met with absolutely nothing but the opposite of everything I just described. All this time, I've been wondering where all of the good-hearted people, who got into medicine to help others to heal their pain, judgement free, had gone, and I seem to have stumbled upon them right here at the Franciscan hospice House. I can't say enough how amazing each and every person who works here is, and I wish I could recognize it in a way where I'm able to give back some of what they've given me, but posting my truth on the on this internet website will just have to do. All my dozens of ER visits and hospitalizations I have experienced in my adult life, made me feel like I was doing something wrong when I needed and asked for some kind of pain control, to the point where I was ashamed to even ask. I unlearned that behavior here, and I don't know if I could have gone on without that changing. I found no nefarious actions, or questionable intentions in anything that is done here by any of the people who work here, it's just good people. I was unaware they still existed. It's like finding a freaking unicorn on a bit stunned and unsure of what to do next, but this seems like the right step. I almost don't want to make any sudden movements and in fear that it might spook them and everything will go back to the hellish ways that I'm used to. If you're considering getting their services, my only advice is stop waiting and just do it, because for me, nothing but good came out of it. Your life might seem like that too, but if anyone were to pull out some more good parts of life, it would be them, and it would be here (I'm actually still a patient here as of right meow

After having a loved one at this facility for 2 years, I made the decision to move her to a more…read moreprivate facility to get more personalized care. I also made the move because I had zero confidence in the current administrator and his ability to keep the needs of my loved one. In the short time he has been in place, I have seen morale go down, resident families complain and complaints filed. In my opinion this person is misplaced and not qualified for this position. I voiced my concerns to the ownership group, it's up to them how to address them. In my dealings with the administrator, I found him to be rude, arrogant and condescending. He does not interact with family members, rarely interacts with resident and his follow up is horrendous. He will give you all the right buzz words and corporate talking point, but does nothing to back them up. I would not recommend, at this time, placing a loved one in this facility.

I can't say enough good things about Hearthside Manor. Nine months ago, when we could no longer…read morecare for my mom in our home, Hearthside truly became her new home. Because of its size and the small staff-to-resident ratio, Hearthside Manor provides an intimate, homelike setting with generous amounts of individual attention from the caregivers and communication based on a resident's current needs. When my mother moved in, the staff and caregivers worked together to understand what would make her comfortable in her new surroundings, physically, emotionally, and socially, and input from the family in this process was sought out and valued. When she returned to Hearthside from a recent hospital stay, everyone had to work through that process once again--but they did, and she has settled back in to a little different routine. There's no one-size-fits-all agenda at Hearthside--each person is treated with individual consideration and respect. While there is a routine in place which creates order and calm, there is also flexibility for individual needs and tastes. For example, those with dementia often don't have typical sleeping patterns, and while this can disrupt the average household, it is graciously accommodated in this setting. One of the caregivers often will simply sit on the couch with a wakeful resident after everyone else is in bed and share a cup of hot chocolate and stories until sleep comes. The confusion and emotions that surface from time to time are always met with reassurance and kindness. Family and friends are encouraged to stop in at any time and are made to feel at home with their loved one and the "family" that is made up of all the residents and staff. There's always a story to tell--what's been going on and how the family member has been doing since you were there last--and there's lots of laughter! It's so heartwarming to watch the genuinely gentle care from the staff as well as interactions that occur between the residents from time to time. I never walk out the front door without a smile on my face and a grateful heart for the people who make this a wonderful home for my mom! Hearthside is always clean, the food is good and nourishing and creatively prepared, the grounds and building are well cared for, the facility is safe and secure, the staff are happy and get along well with one another and the residents--it's a wonderful place!

We quickly narrowed it down to 4-5 facilities, considering cost and what we could glean from the internet and some word of mouth. Bridgeport Place seemed like a good place to start. The more familiar we became with the place, the more impressed we were, but we kept looking, expecting something that would cause us to look further, but it never came. The overall atmosphere is very positive, everyone that works there that we came in contact with were kind and caring. They went out of their way to accommodate our mothers transition. Including helping to round up a hospital bed which we bought, but they picked it up and delivered it to her room in advance of her moving in at no cost and actually before we could even ask. The facilities, are clean, bright, with nice furnishings and the building and grounds are well maintained, very inviting. The residents that we have met all seem content if not smiling and happy. They have activities ongoing every day, which mom has already started taking part in . She is able to socialize and looks forward to seeing her new friends every day. And she said she would never go into an assisted living situation. After the first few days there she started going down to the dining room for her meals. The Nursing Assistant comes to her room knocks on the door and asks if she would like to go to dinner and then gently helps her into a wheel chair and rolls her on down. After mom had left the her room one afternoon for dinner, my sister and I were leaving and I glanced into the dining room to see mom sitting at the dinner table smiling, and talking with her new friends happier than I have seen her in a long time. I knew that we had made the right choice.
