There's a nice, small area with chairs on the other side of a windowed wall where parents and friends can sit and observe. The children's class we saw was about an hour long. They also offer teen and adult classes, too. We saw a classmate achieve another belt level -- and what he went through. It gave us an idea of what our grandson had to do to achieve his various colored belts and stripes. It was so nice to see the discipline of everyone; the respect given to the teachers. And the range of ages in the class. As others have said, these classes are not only for discipline and strength training, but also for building confidence. The professionalism and caring of the staff is so very apparent.

Tucked away in the southern boundary of trendy Seminole Heights just north of bustling downtown,…read moreTampa Must Thai is the only place I know of where a neurosurgeon gets (legally) kicked by a fast food worker and a salsa dancer can learn to do a push up. Known for pumping out professional and amateur Thai boxers, Tampa Muay Thai has expanded its curriculum to meet my physical fitness needs in an innovative and hip environment. When you walk into the gym, you begin to grasp why "muay Thai is life". Most people, even fight fans, have no clue why dudes wear short silk shorts and girls exhale loudly when they kick. And then the trainers (almost all with funny accents) get down to business and actually train. They blend Thai culture with a little (less literal) ass kicking. After a few sessions and even more tweaks to technique, you realize shorts aid in agility and breathing heavily elevates power. But it's not just the trainers' expertise that sells me on this place - it's mostly the culture. With members ranging in gender, race, nationality, size, and socioeconomic class, TMT brings everyone with different training aspirations together cohesively through different avenues of Muay Thai training. From the strength and conditioning to dirty boxing or sparring classes, the trainers at Tampa muay Thai fulfill the needs of anyone with any inkling toward fighting or general physical fitness. I couldn't give this place enough stars for the culture, expertise, and results.

The message was very professional, polite, and informative. I had a brief conversation via text about what I was looking. Instead of trying to push a quick sale, Chuck took the time to see what MY schedule looked like and showed me sessions that would fit what I was looking for as well as my schedule. I decided I would give it a shot. They offer one "Free" session for you to try it out and several different packages to meet a wide range of price points. I arrived at the gym about 15 mins before the start of the 7pm session. I wanted to watch a little bit of the interactions and sign any waivers that were needed. Chuck was teaching and still took the time for a quick greeting, before continuing with his session. As the class concluded, I was able to get the paperwork filled out and was provided a loaner gi. I explained that I had zero knowledge of the sport. That didn't faze Chuck or the rest of the class at all. Everyone was friendly, laidback, and took the time to help me not just learn the steps but understand why they were there. There wasn't a moment throughout the entire experience that I was bored or wasn't laughing. By the end of the session, I was ready to sign up. If you're looking for a new hobby, I highly recommend checking this place out. Great environment and amazing people.

He thinks for push hands you need to be practicing taiji for decades, and he further thinks you need years of completely unrelated disciplines like forms, Taiji Sword?!, etc. He's a complete poser who has not developed qi, has no idea what energy feels like, and caters to an ignorant group of students who will also never feel qi. Ask him to demonstrate fajin, ask him the mechanics of neidan, how to develop anything energetic, and he will be clueless. That all his 5 star reviews are middle-aged women, no offense, should give you a clue this guy is not a martial artist at all... just some hobbyist with an ego who loves being called 'master' by people with zero skill. If you want to relieve stress and do fake taiji, this guy is likely great (as is any yoga instructor with equivalent zero spiritual/energetic ability). If, however, you want actual martial arts training, want to learn zhan zhuang, qigong, neigong, neidan, fajin, push hands, etc, he is terrible and has literally no clue what he's doing.
