This guy is a FAKE master. Asked about getting lessons, completely blew me off with a delusional,…read morearrogant attitude. He thinks for push hands you need to be practicing taiji for decades, and he further thinks you need years of completely unrelated disciplines like forms, Taiji Sword?!, etc. He's a complete poser who has not developed qi, has no idea what energy feels like, and caters to an ignorant group of students who will also never feel qi. Ask him to demonstrate fajin, ask him the mechanics of neidan, how to develop anything energetic, and he will be clueless. That all his 5 star reviews are middle-aged women, no offense, should give you a clue this guy is not a martial artist at all... just some hobbyist with an ego who loves being called 'master' by people with zero skill. If you want to relieve stress and do fake taiji, this guy is likely great (as is any yoga instructor with equivalent zero spiritual/energetic ability). If, however, you want actual martial arts training, want to learn zhan zhuang, qigong, neigong, neidan, fajin, push hands, etc, he is terrible and has literally no clue what he's doing.

I decided it would be fun to try, and I am so glad I did. By the end of the 6 week series I knew it was something that I wanted to continue to learn. Tai chi has helped me eliminate stress, become more aware, and helped me gain focus in many areas of my life. Peter is an excellent instructor. In addition to the moves, he helps his students understand concepts, meditation, body alignment, how everything is connected, the concept of yin and yang, and much more. Peter "gets it" and is able to convey and share this knowledge with his students.

It has proven health benefits, including improved balance, coordination, circulation, bone density, and longevity. Taoist tai chi, invented by Moy Lin-Shin around 1970, adapts the 108 moves of Yang-style tai chi to increase tai chi's health benefits. Tai chi has been called "moving meditation." Legend has it that the Chinese martial arts were invented in the sixth century by a Shaolin monk who saw what poor condition the other monks were in after spending all day every day sitting and meditating. Ta Mo invented "the 18-form exercise" that is the ancestor of karate, judo, aikido, etc. Tai chi itself was invented by the 9th-century Taoist philosopher Li Taotsu, who defined the first 37 moves in a book called "The Earlier Heavenly Movements." As practiced and taught by the St. Petersburg branch of TTCS, Taoist tai chi is a practice with proven health benefits and psychic rewards. The instructors are knowledgeable, professional, and generous, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Best of all, TTCS is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the health benefits of tai chi, meaning that your contributions are tax-deductible. No instructor is paid. The facility is staffed and maintained by volunteers. The Society is active in the Crescent Lake community.
