Let's call this place what it is.... It's a motel 6. HOWEVER, it was very clean, quiet, and safe. The girl who checked us in was very helpful and competent. The hotel is right off the highway and perfect for a road trip layover. The only cons are that they don't have anything more than coffee for breakfast and only stairs to the upstairs... But what did you expect really? It was nice, inexpensive and convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

I stay here frequently because it is easy to reach from the Interstate but set back enough so you don't hear it. The owner is friendly and helpful. On one trip through Oregon, I wanted to make sure that I stayed at a motel where I could watch my favorite college football team play. I called ahead to make sure they had the channel on their cable TV. The daughter of the owner not only checked their channel line up, but checked on what time the game would be broadcast (I didn't even request that). Now THAT'S service! The prices are very reasonable. We paid $55 for a queen bed and a sofa (sleeper), desk, nice views of the mountains where rooms are clean and well outfitted with fridge, microwave and coffee maker.

Room

Rooms are large, location is close to the highway, prices are cheap. Really great if you need to pull off the road for the night. Bonus perk: there's a motel dog that is ridiculously cute and sweet. PS ~ the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is nearby for the history nerds/children of the 90s.

Started off being a great experience (originally 5 stars) but they didn't finish with the great service as they started with.

Geiser Grand Hotel - bad couch, dirty pillows and sloping bed

We rolled in after a full Gorge run Multnomah Falls, Bridge of the Gods, past The Dalles Dam and John Day Dam already feeling like we were chasing something. And we were. Enter the crew: my Ghostbuster-style buddy with all the blinking gear, a slick all-black BMW mystery man, and us two curious "innocents" with a couple drinks and bad ideas. Room? Gorgeous. Massive ceilings. Old-school class. Vibe? ...different after dark. You hear it first. The creaks. Then you feel it. Like you're not alone. Lights off, shadows moving different. And that little detector? It didn't just blink it lit up. I didn't show up believing in ghosts. But I left thinking... something's there. Stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel for the history. Stay a little longer if you want the mystery. Next time I'm sleeping with the lights on.

The Geiser Grand lives up to its name with ridiculously spacious rooms and a traditionally elegant,…read moreold-world ambience. Check-in is firmly set at 4 p.m., so don't plan on getting in early! (They also will not store your luggage prior to check in time.) Valet parking in a gated lot with camera coverage is available; otherwise be prepared to fend for yourself on the mean streets of Baker City. Room 309 came equipped with thoughtful touches--a small fridge, hot chocolate, and a charming penny-tile bathroom that felt straight out of history. The hotel's legendary ghosts didn't keep me awake... too much. All in all, a grand stay with plenty of character (both living and otherwise).

Every single time I…read morevisit, I'm blown away--not just by the amazing food (which is absolutely authentic, flavorful, and consistently incredible), but by the entire experience from start to finish. The atmosphere of the whole property is just wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, the spaces are welcoming, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. Whether you're dining, visiting, or staying, there's a sense of comfort and ease that makes you want to linger a little longer. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owner and staff go above and beyond to take care of you, and they do it in such a warm, friendly way that feels more like being welcomed by family than just being a guest. It genuinely feels like a place where people care. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right--food, atmosphere, and service--but this is one of them. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. A heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team--you are truly amazing and so appreciated.

There was no shampoo in our room and the phone didn't work to call the front desk for more. The drunk man stumbling in the hall knocking on different doors with a cigarette in his hand did not make me feel confident in where we were staying. Jackie at the front desk was very kind when we checked in. Breakfast was busy and had some options but there was no water and was pure chaos with the amount of kids running around. It didn't seem like there were many mid range hotels in the area. It might be worth paying more to have a little nicer of a spot. For reference we paid 140 for a Friday night and won't be staying here again.

For the price this was a good room and it was quiet where we were on the 2nd floor. In the morning there was a bunch of little birds singing..maybe some of their nests are in a nearby tree. It was a cheery sound. My one complaint is that the soap (2 "bars") are comically sized like postage stamps. (They fall apart as soon as water hits them and don't provide enough soap for a complete shower). Aside from this, we liked the room and would stay there again (but perhaps bring our own soap)?

Receptionist was very pleasant and personable. Very nice start. Couldn't get a ground floor room being I'm disabled and had no reservation ,but dragged my saggy arse upstairs with the wife in tow. Nice room, a bit aged, but clean, couldn't get the tv to work, (boomer brain fog) but not a big deal anyhow. The internet was good, that worked fine. Water pressure and temperature was great. Coffeemaker was broken, but worked. Had a small microwave and fridge. Heater worked great being it was very very cold outside, glad for that. Bed was clean and comfy. Another plus, slept great. Beautiful location with a view of the Wallowa mountains In the distance, very friendly people here, went to the restaurant called the " truck corral" about 65 yards away. Had a good decent breakfast, good food, huge portions. Very nice waitress and staff all around. Decent hotel. It's not the Taj mahal but very suitable, it's old but had some excellent tile work which I though was great in the bathroom, see pic. Was about in my price range which is low budget since I travel quite frequently. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80.00 bucks. Would come back again is the key point...yes I would, and will. Thank you El Dorado.
