We rolled in after a full Gorge run Multnomah Falls, Bridge of the Gods, past The Dalles Dam and John Day Dam already feeling like we were chasing something. And we were. Enter the crew: my Ghostbuster-style buddy with all the blinking gear, a slick all-black BMW mystery man, and us two curious "innocents" with a couple drinks and bad ideas. Room? Gorgeous. Massive ceilings. Old-school class. Vibe? ...different after dark. You hear it first. The creaks. Then you feel it. Like you're not alone. Lights off, shadows moving different. And that little detector? It didn't just blink it lit up. I didn't show up believing in ghosts. But I left thinking... something's there. Stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel for the history. Stay a little longer if you want the mystery. Next time I'm sleeping with the lights on.

Check-in is firmly set at 4 p.m., so don't plan on getting in early! (They also will not store your luggage prior to check in time.) Valet parking in a gated lot with camera coverage is available; otherwise be prepared to fend for yourself on the mean streets of Baker City. Room 309 came equipped with thoughtful touches--a small fridge, hot chocolate, and a charming penny-tile bathroom that felt straight out of history. The hotel's legendary ghosts didn't keep me awake... too much. All in all, a grand stay with plenty of character (both living and otherwise).

The room we had 203 was beautiful with an amazing view. Soak tubs are clean with 24 hour access for overnight guests. We are so excited to visit again.

Historic hotel, former sanitorium, the place is old, but charming for the old parts and well integrated with updated furnishings and decor. We toured the public areas and there is ample space to lounge and a nice pub to grab a drink and snack. Also, the hot lake moniker is no joke - the natural hot spring results in a very hot lake, but there are still birds and fish. We saw an egret, a few hawks, at least three kinds of ducks and several songbirds during our brief visit. Next time, we will bring binoculars and plan to stay a while! We were also really lucky that our spring visit brought out a young turtle - the person keeping the grounds found him and showed him to us before helping the little thing on his way to the lake. So sweet! Appears to be under new ownership, so some things may be different than older reviews. Definitely worth a stop for lunch or a soak if you're driving through and an overnight stay if you have the time. Can't wait to return!
