Upon arrival, we noticed a poison mouse trap inside the cabin. We immediately contacted IdyllwildVacationCabins and were told that mice had been reported back in July 2025, the issue had been treated, and the trap was only a preventative measure. We were also told relocation was available if needed. Based on these assurances, we believed there was no active infestation and decided to stay. The following evening, we discovered mouse/rat droppings inside a kitchen drawer and in a dresser where our infant's clothing had already been placed. After inspecting further, we found extensive droppings throughout the cabin, including closet floors, under the bed, and in multiple upstairs closets. This clearly indicated an active or unresolved rodent issue. Regardless of whether the droppings were new or old, their presence made the cabin unsafe and uninhabitable--especially given the health risks associated with rodent droppings, including potential exposure to hantavirus. We contacted IdyllwildVacationCabins again and were offered relocation, but by that point our belongings had already been unpacked and potentially contaminated. Under the circumstances, we felt the only reasonable option was to leave the property entirely.

Great location: quiet, off the main road and nestled amongst the pines. What made this different from your average weekend get-away, was the folks at New Spirit. We had some issues with our car when departing and the staff were so sympathetic and understanding. The people made a difference in our stay and we'll be booking with them again.

Unfortunately, it ultimately ends with you having dispute charges with your credit card company even after you have followed all the rules New Spirt Vacation Homes sets outside of the Vrbo platform. Here it is - all spelled out chronologically and can be backed by 40+ messages back and forth with BOTH Niki and Monica, who appear to be the same person, at least in the way they message customers 8/28/2025 $653.35 paid in full for reservation for 3.23.26 - 3.26.26 12/11/2025 New Spirt Vacation Homes removed listing from Vrbo and directed me to view all details on their own website, not via Vrbo which made me very uneasy, so I canceled my reservation per Vrbo's timely allowances. Same day I am messaged by Nikki telling me to fill out an additional refund form outside of Vrbo and that they will take no less than 30 days to complete the refund request per their right with the CA SB 644 (California Senate Bill 644 )which legally allows them to do so. 12/19/2025 The additional email form not received via email from this company. I messaged to inquire and was basically scolded by Nikki and asked why I 'did not advise them earlier that they did not send the form?' Well, because it was not my responsibility to send it! 1/23/2026 More than 30 days past, still no refund. I messaged New Spirit Vacation homes to inquire. I was told by Nikki that "half our accounting dept. is out sick, and I will personally process the refund today." 1/24/2026 Nikki messages me now stating that "Our merchant services account does not allow us to process a refund with charges that are ran over 180 days prior to request so now we need to mail you a check." Keep in mind that the date of purchase was 8/28/2025 and the date I requested a refund was 12/11/2025. Simple math shows this is a lie, as 180 days after purchase date would have been 2/24/2026! 1/24/2026 Messaged a second time by Monica stating that she is "forwarding this request for a check refund to be issued by the CEO and mailed to you today." 1/30/2026 No check received. I message again, Niki this time lies to me stating that "I work night shift, but the check was cut and mailed out yesterday so it should arrive shortly." 2/4/2026 No check received, asked status, no response 2/5/2026 Messaged them a second time, said I will be starting a dispute with my credit card company. 2/6/2026 Next day Niki responded, "I personally tried to run your card (last lie was she mailed refund SAME DAY on 1/30/2026) and it would not allow, I will need to reach out to see what is going on." ******************* THAT WAS THE LAST MESSAGE FROM NEW SPIRT VACATION HOMES, AFTER THAT I INITIATED A DISPUTE WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL THE END OF MARCH 2026 ************* So why am I siting here wasting my 30-minute lunch break typing a novel? Well, remember that neat little California Senate Bill 644 (SB 644) mentioned earlier by Nikki as the reason for not refunding anyone before 30 days; basically 'because they can'? Guess what, it protects us too as consumers from unethical companies like New Spirt Vacation homes that regularly practice cash grabbing, lies, unnecessary delays and harassment with their refund process in hopes you give up and do not fight. I am not the one who gives up easily, so I have officially filled a consumer complaint with the State of California Department of Justice Consumer Complaint Office of the Attorney General I HIGHLY recommend you do so as well if they are taking longer than 30 days to issue your refund which is in a direct violation of the CA SB 644 and punishable with up to $10,000.00 fine. This was a 5 star place all the way around!!…read more This is a family owned business and you can sense the pride and love that they pour into this property. This hotel has 6 stand-alone units on a large piece of mountain property which is mostly secluded, although it is in an Idyllwild "neighborhood". It is also a brisk 15-20 min walk to the downtown area. A little history of this place - all the cabins were originally built in the early 50's and most of the units still have the original decor & fixtures such as toilets, tile, fireplaces, etc. so you might say this is straight mid-century and not mid-century "modern" . Again, this is a family business that was bought by the grandfather back in 1978 and has been run by his son & daughter-in-law with their son helping out. It is also very well maintained. They have a pool on the grounds that is heated to 80 degrees and no, there is no hot tub. This was the second time we've stayed here. The first time was a few years ago and we stayed in "The Cottage in the Woods" which was wonderful because it is "down the gravel road" away from the other units and is very secluded. My girlfriend was drawn to the hammock in the picture and was disappointed to hear that the deer keep eating the hammocks so they are no longer there. This time we stayed in room 5A (roughly $200 a night with taxes & fees) which was a larger room. The way it is set up, there are 5 separate stand alone buildings with the exact same layout - the A and B sides both have their own private deck with chairs so you can sit out and soak up the nature. The A unit is much larger and comes with a brick fireplace (firewood is available for $6 at the office on the honor system and fire starters are free at the office). There is a small kitchen complete with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, etc. The bed is super comfy and there was also an extra double bed just inside the door. We were here in August and it was warm, so we kept the ceiling fan going the whole time. They also had a box fan in the closet and a wall swamp cooler A/C unit which we didn't really use because the noise makes it hard for my girlfriend to sleep. We really love that basically one wall of the room was floor to ceiling windows which really make you feel like you are a part of the forest! I am also glad that they have curtains that cover said windows so you can have privacy when you want it. The B units are much smaller "mother-in-law suites" which connect to the A units with a door (which stays closed & locked if you don't rent both units). The B units don't have a kitchen (but they do have small refrigerators, microwave and coffee makers). They don't have brick fireplaces but, instead have smaller wood burning chimineas. I felt like the larger room was well-worth the extra that we paid but the smaller units were also nice for those on more of a budget. Each room comes with a nice 32" smart TV and DVD player (They loan out DVDs at the office - see my pic of their DVD library). They have good WiFi - we brought our own firestick and were able to have all our channels, playlists & shows, which was nice. We were here for 2 nights which was good but we have realized that it takes one day to rest, shake off the work week and shift into vacation mode. We wish that we had come for 3 nights to really give us a couple days of good vacation energy, instead of one day to adjust & recoup and a couple of half days of true vacation. Again, this was a 5 star lodging experience and I highly recommend Woodland Park Manor for anyone looking to have a really nice mountain vacation!

Amazing place, great location is you want a quiet relaxing time. Will defiantly come back.read more

After payment, I discovered: * The fireplace was unusable * The jacuzzi was only half full, with jets barely working * There was no clear mention of checkout time until after booking When I brought this up, the host didn't try to resolve anything. Instead of offering goodwill or admitting anything could've been handled better, they doubled down and blamed me, even after I showed them screenshots and law references. I ended up filing a credit card dispute and escalating the matter to BBB and the California Attorney General. This business prioritizes profit over people and plays games with how fees are displayed and amenities described. There are better places in Idyllwild, and likely, more honest ones too.

A-Frame Cabin is A-mazing…read more I had done a Yelp search of where to stay in Idyllwild for an upcoming short vacation and fell upson the stellar reveiws for this little place...I was not disappointed. Upon arrival, I was so delighted at the look and location of the cabin, that I - literally- began to jump up and down like a little kid. It is adorable. Nestled against a tiny creek, amidst blue jays and quail and squirrels, this was the perfect get away. Inside, a cozy living room, complete with fireplace and television (though it took me a minute to figure out how to adjust the surround sound) a fully equipped kitchen, small office space, full bathroom downstairs, half bath upstairs, an extra bedroom with a double bed and a gorgeous, comfortable queen sized bed up a set of winding stairs, I truly could not have been happier. I was able to cook at "home" every meal (after a quick visit to Fairway Foods less than a mile away), walk through town all day, and snuggle inside all night. There are even annual parking passes to the local national forests, so next time we stay, we'll make a trip to check it out, and with the amount of space and sleeping arrangements, next time we may also bring some friends along! I look forward to my next trip to Idyllwild, and, withouth question, will be staying at the A-Frame Cabin.

They get 5 stars. The cabin was tidy, quaint and secluded and gets 4 out of 5 stars based on the following: Pros: Clean, extra comfy beds, fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms, BBQ pit. Coffee pot toaster. Crockpot. Access to creek. Nice views. Patios. 15 minutes to Lake Hemet. Friendly people all around. Pet friendly. Nice shops. Artsy community. Cons: I took off a point for firewood, broken/nonexistent screens, light fixtures not working and fire alarms. Our first night was rather cold. No firewood was available so we opted for the heaters, which were a bit dusty and smelled weird. So the next day we bought wood thinking it would get cold each night. Boy were we wrong. The rest of our stay was a heat wave in upper 90s. Screens on all windows would have been nice for that mountain breeze to circulate throughout the cabin. Unfortunately the patio screen was broken so we kept the door closed because we didn't want big critters finding their way inside. The front and upper bedroom doors don't have screens either. luckily there were fans in each room to help us stay cool at night. Several lights needed new bulbs and the smoke detector was also an alarm that didn't seem to work (after pushing the test button I thought I set the alarm!). Overall nice cabin and rental experience. Nice town and people. Looking forward to coming back in the winter.
