This is the 4th time in the last 5 years I have booked for my family. We always do Super Bowl weekend in Idyllwild and have had the best experience with Martha and her team. I prefer this 100x over Airbnb. They are super accommodating, the two houses we've rented have been amazing. I look forward to booking next year read more

We stayed at Idyllnook Lodge, booked through IdyllwildVacationCabins, from 1/16/2026-1/19/2026, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we noticed a poison mouse trap inside the cabin. We immediately contacted IdyllwildVacationCabins and were told that mice had been reported back in July 2025, the issue had been treated, and the trap was only a preventative measure. We were also told relocation was available if needed. Based on these assurances, we believed there was no active infestation and decided to stay. The following evening, we discovered mouse/rat droppings inside a kitchen drawer and in a dresser where our infant's clothing had already been placed. After inspecting further, we found extensive droppings throughout the cabin, including closet floors, under the bed, and in multiple upstairs closets. This clearly indicated an active or unresolved rodent issue. Regardless of whether the droppings were new or old, their presence made the cabin unsafe and uninhabitable--especially given the health risks associated with rodent droppings, including potential exposure to hantavirus. We contacted IdyllwildVacationCabins again and were offered relocation, but by that point our belongings had already been unpacked and potentially contaminated. Under the circumstances, we felt the only reasonable option was to leave the property entirely. read more

What a bust. My best friend reserved this cabin for a get away to mark our 30 years of friendship and I'm glad we're strong enough that we made it through the weekend. Upon arrival the cabin was cold. We turned on the "mini split heaters" and neither one downstairs would blow hot air, only cold air. We assumed it needed time to warm up, so we gave it the night and when we woke up the cabin was still cold. We had to bring down blankets from the beds to watch TV (Only one TV for the entire cabin). On the bench near the TV we saw an old rolled up tissue with dried blood on it, possibly from someone else's nose bleed that stayed there. Gross. As we sat on the couch I continually got whiffs of old pet urine. The next morning we went to make coffee and a moldy coffee filter with old coffee was still in it. I had to call Martha to figure out how to use the mini split heaters because the cabin wasn't warming up and she said they might need to be re-serviced and didn't know much about them. She brought 2 small room heaters, which we had to keep moving around to warm the cabin and the bedrooms. My best friend reserved this cabin for the two highlights listed online 1. The game room and 2. An indoor spa. The game room is a joke. You can't play pool because all the sticks tips are broken. The air hockey pushers were broken. The ping pong paddles were duct taped (take look at the pictures attached). Mind you these were duct taped by a previous person who stayed here OVER TWO YEARS AGO. We attempted to go into town to buy replacements so we could actually enjoy the game room, but could not find any replacements. The spa is no longer inside as listed. It's outside on the deck and the winds were terrible this weekend so we couldn't enjoy it. There is still no toaster. To top off the stay, many of the doors don't close all the way, or don't lock correctly. We woke up one morning to the game room door wide open due to the winds. We were not able to feel safe with the doors opening on their own and most doors not staying locked. I feel terrible that my best friend spent so much money on this reservation for what we got, and what we had to deal with. The owners need to update the online page and fix the things that need to be fixed. They should feel embarrassed for charging people what they do to stay here. I would not recommend this cabin for future stays. read more

Home away from home What a fun experience! Surprised my son to a small get away and he loved the stay (coming from a teenager this is major kudos!). Martha was awesome in communication. She even helped me find another cabin last minute that offered hot tub along with Pet friendly for my daschund girl (my favorite child, don't tell my son lol). Stayed in the Whispering Tree Top cabin and it was incredible. Decorated so cute and had all the basics. It was only the two of us but there is a cute separate cabin that would be great for mom or grandma. The heating was superb especially since our stay was during a high wind storm in January. Smart TVs had cable and all the apps. Hot tub was wonderful, very private and the views were fantastic. Town was close by so we were able to do some shopping and food pickup. Martha was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. This was our first trip to Idyllwild, we typically stay in Big Bear and I have to say we enjoyed this trip way more. We loved it and will definitely be returning to this cabin or another from this company. Things to note: 1. Showers are small. We are small so it worked out, but something to be aware of. 2. The incline to the driveway is incredibly steep. We have a Jeep so it worked out, but not sure my Corolla would have made it up that easy. 3. The key for entry takes some finesse to open the door. My husband and I have been bringing our dogs to Idyllwild for years and we always rent cabins from Idyllwild Vacation Cabins. We've stayed in many over the years, have always enjoyed them - especially the Mountain View cabin, with a big fenced-in yard for our pack of dogs. We appreciate how responsive Martha has always been when we've needed help with something. It hasn't been often and is usually something technical we can't figure out, like the cable tv or WiFi. The clear blue sky, clean mountain air and being surrounded by trees inside a cabin make these getaways restful, peaceful and, for my on-line work and writing, very productive. Also, if you want to go shopping or be more social, there are grocery and hardware stores, nail and hair salons, boutiques, a movie theater, restaurants and much more in the picturesque village of Idyllwild. We stayed at the Honeymoon Hideaway for 3 nights and completely enjoyed it. All of the necessities are included in your stay. The bedding was clean and fresh and the bed was actually quite comfortable. The stove and oven are in good shape and very easily could have made full meals there at the cabin. All of the utensils and cookware is available to use. The refrigerator is quite small and really no freezer but it sufficed. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The bedroom was much more spacious than we thought it was going to be. Over all very pleased with the accommodations at the Honeymoon Hideaway. Oh and one side note, they don't skimp on the quality of the toilet paper. I would recommend Idyllwild Vacation Cabins to anyone. read more

The worst was trying to find the place. If it weren't for the cleaning lady, we would never have found the place. Addresses for the creekside cottage and the lodge are the same. And the "road " from the main road is nothing more than trampled pine needles. Shower has steps. Has no light, and no grab bar. Serious safety issues. Access to the creek is questionable. You have to find your own way. In and out, is available, but not publicized. A popular inn just down the creek advertises access to the creek, which was friendly, but no credit to the vacation cabin people. read more

I have never been treated so poorly, I have been using Martha at Idyllwild Vacation Cabins for yrs. Just this one time, we had to change dates NOT CANCEL & then need to cancel cause there was surgery issue, wasn't in our control. She threatened to charge me $150 cancellation fee & was very upset. yet there is no cancellation fee on the agreement you sign. We stayed at "A Taste of Honey". We were here 12 years ago. The remodel is wonderful. I can't say enough about how perfect this place is. We brought our dog and she had a blast. The entire atmosphere was a wonderful experience. I love to cook so this kitchen is fully stocked for gourmet cooking. Everything I needed was here and more. Everything was clean and filled with a relaxing, quiet, private and enjoyable experience. Walking to town was minutes away yet the privacy of our house/cabin was part of the charm. Our dog enjoyed the huge fenced in yard and the sound of Strawberry Creek with chirping birds filled the air. I love forestry. Coming from Orange County to get our pups away from the war zone which is our neighborhood on the 4th of July, we booked a cabin with another company. When we opened the door, the cabin was infested with mice and was in deplorable conditions. Drove into town and parked in the shade to find somewhere else to stay. Of course on a holiday week everything was booked or sold out. 15 mins from turning around to drive 3 hrs back home, we found Martha's business. Just like that she found us an amazing cabin, accommodated everything we needed, and welcomed our pets. 2 local folks even drove ahead of us to take us to our cabin. Now that's service! It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Peaceful spot in the woods, multiple decks for outdoor seating, plenty of space outdoors in yard for our pups. We stayed at Mountain View this weekend and because of the large deck to enjoy the mountain environment and the fenced yard, my dog had a wonderful time exploring, we had a nice weekend. I will say the video portrays the property just as it is with the exception of the entry stairs from the driveway to the house. If you look at the video the drone goes from the drive up to the patio. The stairs are missing from the video and a huge liability to this property. There is no handrail for the first part of the steps then the step pattern changes then they turn into deck stairs and have a hand rail that is too short to provide safe support. With the railings in place and some basic TLC this property would be booked all the time. read more

We just stayed at the Brighton Cabin 8/5-8/7. It was so cozy and comfortable! It was just me and my husband but there would be room for a family of four easily! The location is fantastic and super close to town! There are two small refrigerators and a awesome stove! It had a very large deck with a swing on it and a gas grill. Underneath the deck is a hot tub that we loved!!! We worked with Martha and she was great! I can't wait to come back and stay longer or come when it's snowing. They have a keurig machine and a Mr Coffee. Lots of cooking utensils and pans and spices. Bring your own towels for the hot tub and bring your own shampoo etc. I also brought an extra fan because I get super hot but this cabin did have an air conditioner and two big fans! We were originally going to stay at a Taste of Honey in May, but a positive Covid test ruined the trip. We had to cancel the day before check in, literally last minute. Luckily the customer service here is great. Idyllwild vacation cabins was super accommodating- they credited us for a future stay with no hassles or run around. I was not expecting that since we didn't buy trip insurance or anything like that. We just provided proof of the positive test and rebooked our dates. We just used our credit and had a great weekend away. This is the second times we've used Idyllwild vacation cabins and will be my go to spot every time we come back to Idyllwild. read more

Idyllwild Vacation Cabins is a fine organization that I've used multiple times over the past 10 + years. This review is for the particular rental, Cozy Pines, on Green St. It was advertised as lots of decks and mountain views, but we couldnt see mountains from any of the small decks. There were no tables on any of the decks. The cabin is up close to another cabin with several vehicles parked there. I will definitely use the organization again, but will not go back to that particular cabin. The house itself was lovely, well decorated, very nice. Thank you. read more

The owner left a comment under my review claiming that I had mistakenly left a review with the wrong company and that she hasn't charged any damage fees to anyone in six months. I have attached proof showing communication with her as well as the charges on my credit card bill showing the fees we were charged well within the 6 months that she claims. Friend was looking for a cabin in Idy and found IVC via the internet. He tried to book a 1 bedroom cabin but that cabin was already taken. He settled for The Sunset Cabin which has 2bd and 1.5 bath. There's also a hot tub. Check in was easy as their office is in the heart of town. Our keys were ready and the envelope (with keys) had driving instructions. The two story cabin was cozy. There was one private spot to park in. The hot tub was located in the front yard so be mindful that you have to walk out with your bathing suit/towels/etc where neighbors might see you. Kitchen had electric range, one oven, and microwave. There's no garbage disposal. A few things: - we couldn't figure out the cable box so Christopher promptly came to our cabin to set up the system for us - kitchen has blender and coffee maker. There's no coffee filters so make sure to bring your own (we brought coffee but forgot filters). Or, use a paper towel for a mock filter (it totally works). - the 2nd floor heats up quickly but the 1st floor is chillier - they accept pets with a security deposit (our dogs liked the cabin) - there was water damage on the 1st floor as they received major snow the week prior and the pile of snow leaked through one of the side doors (the carpet inside was wet and the side door wouldn't open) - the door knobs in 1/2 bath by kitchen weren't intact so I got locked inside (the bathroom). Friend had to instruct me to use the knobs, that was set by window inside bathroom, to shove into the door handle hole and open the door that way - one mattress was extremely saggy and uncomfortable - there were bath towels, no toiletries (we brought ours so no biggie), no hairdryer . Downstairs bathroom had separate ceiling heater which came in handy when drying bathing suits. - hot tub kept saying 'LOC' so friend called the office who walked him through how to re set the hot tub - I noticed, with yelp check in, you get 2 free bundles of wood. Friend called the front desk to inquire (at same time when he called about the hot tub). They said the free wood required advance notice but they could drop off the wood to our cabin (we offered to pick up the wood but they said no on was at office). Unfortunately no wood was ever dropped off. I believe IVC reps home owners who want to rent out their cabins. So I can see why certain issues (water damage, door knobs, etc) are unresolved if owners don't want to do much about them. You do have to take your trash back to their office. Not a big deal for us and we even put recyclables items into a different bag. Management seems nice and friendly. Horrible experience with the company. They deserve a zero rate. We spoke with Martha Sanchez to resolve an issue although she was completely unwilling to discuss a resolution. Additionally, they told us the property was private although it was not private at all. The hot tube is completely exposed to several neighbors. The bathroom shower had no water pressure whatsoever and smelled awful when we arrived. The fans mounted on the bedroom walls are ridiculous and had to be turned off in order to sleep. The driveway leading to the property is damaged and has caused severe damage to our vehicle. The cabin we rented was not at all what was discussed with Agent, Meredith. We stayed in A Taste of Honey The highlights were: - beautiful cabin - large front and back deck - clean sheets and towels, clean cabin, no bugs - Wifi and cable ready - hot tub - Washer and dryer - large dogs allowed - fenced in large yard with creek access - clear instructions for everything in the cabin - open ceilings - 2 large bedrooms and loft clean sheets - Very Rustic cabin home feel - Large TV dvd player board game - wood burning fireplace - The kitchen had all the pots, utensils and dishes you need. All the pots and pans were in excellent condition. It's was really beautiful relaxing and waking up to the sound of the creek every morning. Our week long stay was amazing and unforgettable. Although, we are just one couple, we could have easily invited another couple for the separate cabin and would have shared living area and kitchen. Everything was clean, the setting remarkable, jacuzzi spotless, and gave us a very cozy mountain experience. You really feel as if you are in a treehouse as you gaze out the picture window into trees! Only word of caution is if there is snow, and you want to park "up top" you will need 4 wheel drive. The host did caution us so we knew ahead. We chose to park at the lower level and not drive up, an easy little walk up. Fairly close to town, a quick drive. We hope to stay here again! read more

Management did not respond to 24 hour phone number. -we never got a reply for the key/lock box and didn't have a key to lock doors -According to the website and video, the jacuzzi was indoors and a private shower (it was not) -Two of the doors knobs do not work/jam and cannot open at times (the door to the basement and one of the bedroom doors) -There was not a toaster -The air hockey table does not work properly, the air does allow for the puc to slide. -Both of the ping pong paddles were splintering, we put duc tape around them. so we could play. -One of the shower nozzle/valve to turn shower head on was broken and a wrench sitting on the tub, looked like someone attempted to fix it but didn't work. -there was trash left in the outside fireplace upon our arrival. -the kitchen sink/drain smelled upon our arrival, we attempted to run hot water and the garbage disposal to flush it out, but didn't work. -In one of the rooms there was a chair wedge in the door so the attic door would stay closed For the price we paid, I expected what was listed on the website to be accurate and everything to be in working condition. read more

My review is for the property Rock to Rock. Let me start out with the positive. While I dealt with Martha on the the phone, I had the pleasure of speaking with Amelia in person. And she is an absolute delight. The whole town of Idyllwild and it's people are welcoming, thoughtful and just plain nice. So to the property Rock to Rock. The view was absolutely stunning from the entire cabin. The bed was probably the best I have ever slept on while one vacation. The hot tub was perfect. And I loved the location was far enough from the center of town, that we truly felt secluded. Now, I have to say it, because if you are looking at this property, this is what you should know. While they do clean, the cabin needs to be DEEP cleaned. The carpet was stained and in some parts not laid properly. The walls need to be washed or it needs new paint. There were marks all over and the ceiling in the downstairs shower looks like it might have some water damage on the ceiling. And while the kitchen is good old 1980's kitschy, the cabin all around is very outdated. Down to some decor being downright creepy. Specifically a decaying duck and a long dead house plant. The calendar on the wall is from 1989. I can only imagine it might hold some sort of sentimental value to the cabins actual owners to still be hanging on the wall. The master bath offers a soaking tub. Unfortunately, the hot water quit working when the tub was about 25% full. The diverter in the downstairs bathroom was shot and the pipes squealed. I alerted Amelia and she said she would get a plumber right up to fix for the next guests. The decks offered stunning views. I especially loved all the bats flying around at sunset and the crows soaring in the afternoon. You can hear the sound of a babbling creek. So I recommend just closing your eyes for a bit and absorbing the sounds the Forrest offers. However, seating consisted of five plastic chairs, total for the three decks. There was also an old metal settee that is way over needing to be replaced. All the furniture seemed like an after thought. Lastly, I recommend bringing your own soap and shampoo (which we did) it said soap was included, but all we found was some old bottles of hotel shampoo in one of the bathroom drawers. With that being said, I BELIEVE, the condition of the property is more based on what the owners allow the rental company to do, rather than the rental company itself. I would use this company again, (mainly because of Ms. Amelia and her wonderful attitude and service) but not stay in Rock to Rock again. read more
