Management was not responsive to their 24 hour phone number. -we never got a reply for the key/lock box and didn't have a key to lock doors -According to the website and video, the jacuzzi was indoors and a private shower (it was not) -Two of the doors knobs do not work/jam and cannot open at times (the door to the basement and one of the bedroom doors) -There was not a toaster -The air hockey table does not work properly, the air does allow for the puc to slide. -Both of the ping pong paddles were splintering, we put duc tape around them. so we could play. -One of the shower nozzle/valve to turn shower head on was broken and a wrench sitting on the tub, looked like someone attempted to fix it but didn't work. -there was trash left in the outside fireplace upon our arrival. -the kitchen sink/drain smelled upon our arrival, we attempted to run hot water and the garbage disposal to flush it out, but didn't work. -In one of the rooms there was a chair wedge in the door so the attic door would stay closed For the price we paid, I expected what was listed on the website to be accurate and everything to be in working condition. read more

We had the pleasure of staying at Bella Luna. A charming & peaceful little cabin a few minutes from town & beautiful trails to hike. The cabin was very clean & had all the amenities. Plenty of room for a family of five. Pet friendly + there is an in-closed pet run with doggie door into house. I appreciate the fact that Bella Luna is pet friendly. I need my dog with me do to medical reasons. We enjoyed feeding the Blue Jays & squirrels with the peanuts supplied in the cupboard. We look forward to spending more time in Idyllwild. We stayed at the SugarPine cabin and had an excellent stay. The customer service was very accommodating, let us check in early and checkout late. Martha and her family were very welcoming. They get 5 stars. The cabin was tidy, quaint and secluded and gets 4 out of 5 stars based on the following: Pros: Clean, extra comfy beds, fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms, BBQ pit. Coffee pot toaster. Crockpot. Access to creek. Nice views. Patios. 15 minutes to Lake Hemet. Friendly people all around. Pet friendly. Nice shops. Artsy community. Cons: I took off a point for firewood, broken/nonexistent screens, light fixtures not working and fire alarms. Our first night was rather cold. No firewood was available so we opted for the heaters, which were a bit dusty and smelled weird. So the next day we bought wood thinking it would get cold each night. Boy were we wrong. The rest of our stay was a heat wave in upper 90s. Screens on all windows would have been nice for that mountain breeze to circulate throughout the cabin. Unfortunately the patio screen was broken so we kept the door closed because we didn't want big critters finding their way inside. The front and upper bedroom doors don't have screens either. luckily there were fans in each room to help us stay cool at night. Several lights needed new bulbs and the smoke detector was also an alarm that didn't seem to work (after pushing the test button I thought I set the alarm!). Overall nice cabin and rental experience. Nice town and people. Looking forward to coming back in the winter. read more

Christine and Ed started us off with a warm welcome and efficient assistance selecting the best cabin for our needs. We went with the modern A Frame and it was lovely! Clean and quiet--all the amenities were comfy...sheets and blankets, towels and a fully stocked kitchen. Idyllwild is an oasis just outside of Los Angeles tall pine trees, squirrels-a-plenty, quaint little town, shops and restaurants. There is even a theater and cinema. Great hiking and picnicking opportunities everywhere spring, summer and fall. Snowy winter wonderland every year. The fresh air, blue skies, lovely people. We had a great vacation and will keep coming back...thanks Christine and Ed!! read more

Chris Titus is a scam artist who will steal rental money from the homeowner and the renter. DO NOT use her rental service if you are a home owner! Not only will she steal the funds she will avoid your calls. She committed credit card fraud by stealing not only the rent and taking it for herself instead of paying it to the homeowner, but she took the renter's security deposit and kept that for herself as well. The house we rented was nice, although had a very narrow steep, shared driveway. We had to do a 3 point turn and pull into the neighbor's driveway to get our mid-size SUV in/out of the parking pad. House was very clean and one night's worth of firewood was included. Everything we used in the house worked. Negatives besides the driveway: my dog found a petrified squirrel under the bed! I understand this is a forest and someone else's dog probably brought it into the house, but do they not vacuum/check under the beds between guests? The rear yard was fenced, but the photos in the listing were very deceiving as the yard looked MUCH larger/flatter than it was. Also, when we went to the office to check out, the door was wide open, but no staff in there. I called out "Hello!" and no one answered so I stood there and waited several minutes thinking they were in the bathroom or something. Finally, a woman who had been sitting right out in front of the office smoking (that I walked right past) came in saying she didn't know I was in the office. I told her about the dead squirrel and left. Overall, the house itself was nice, but these rental agencies really need to give accurate descriptions of these properties, especially if the lots are steep, driveways narrow, yards small and such. read more

We have stayed in several cabins managed by Idyllwild Vacation Rentals over the years. The company has been attentive and efficient with every trip. The cabins have provided pleasant stays, comfortable locations, cozy and relaxing settings. This last time, however, they went above and beyond our needs and expectations! After our wonderful trip, our son lost his retainers. We didn't know where they were, where they had been left, if we had brought them home or not. I called Idyllwild Vacation Rentals to see if they might be there, and after two cleaning crews didn't find them in the cabin, someone from the office went up there... and FOUND THEM! We wanted to escape the fourth of July fireworks in the city and experience a mountain getaway. We found the perfect place in Idyllwild California. The cabin was perfect, rustic with all the amenities we needed and pet-friendly. The city has many restaurants that are pet-friendly and not just for service dogs. We found the people to be wonderful and very accommodating. We recommend the Idyllwild Vacation Rentals highly and have already made our reservations for this year. read more

Stayed at their Oak Tree Cabin for Thanksgiving, 2014. Cabin was horribley maintained. We were extremely disappointed. Dog hair all over the living room, microwave was 30+ years old and useless, DVD player didnt work properly, refrigerator leaked water and ruined our food, chintzy shower and more. If it wasnt for the beautiful trails and landscape our vacation would have sucked. Rent another cabin. There are plenty other cabins to choose. The property managament company and owner do not care about maintaining this cabin. read more

This is a poorly run company. They reneged on a three night for the price of two weeks after confirmation and a contract.

We stayed in the Whispering Treetop cabin and it was excellent. The cabin was great, clean, and well appointed. The view was amazing and it was totally private. We knew there were other cabins near us, but we weren't aware of them. Great stay and the staff were great. We'll do this again. read more

I rented the CAMP KEENA for 3 days. It was a surprise for my boyfriend. We live to hike and enjoy nature. I was beyond satisfied with the location, the cabin and the reality of what it was supposed to be like. It was a magical and beautiful experience for us. A terrible experience! I feel like this business is a scam, particularly after reading some of the other reviewers. The directions they gave us to our cabin were wrong. The "cabin" overlooked a cul de sac of dirt. The parking area was a tiny patch of silt up a very narrow, steep drive that had even my SUVs tires spinning. A car would certainly have bottomed out! There was a "beware of dog sign" tacked onto the property. It was so unhospitable that we thought we must have pulled up to the wrong location. What had been described as a "fair amount of stairs" were actually two-flights, of extremely steep rotting planks that tilted, creaked, and flexed as we attempted to climb. There was no way we could get our bags up the steps! The screen on the front door was punched out and flapping. Inside, the furnishings did not match the photos on the website. Some of the windows opened with great difficulty, others did not open at all, and with temperatures expected to reach the 90s, there was not way we could remain inside for several days without functioning windows. The "deck" was filthy, with railings that tilted several inches in either direction they were so ricketty. To cut short the story, the office manager expressed unwillingness to refund us money as she claimed there were no cancellations allowed. We argued repeatedly that we were not cancelling, we were telling her that her cabin was unacceptable and unsafe. She offered us a second cabin for a higher cost! We drove out to see it and found no functioning windows, a musty odor, and spiderwebs spanning the hallway. We went back to argue again that we should be refunded. She told us several times that we were being difficult and should "just go." Finally she relented, saying that if we would leave, she would refund us in the upcoming week, however she would not give us anything in writing, and certainly didn't offer us a refund then and there. We had driven 4 hours to Idyllwild for the weekend, and there it was near 9pm and we had nowhere to stay. We ended up just making the drive back down the mountain and giving up. Seeing that other customers have been so dissatisfied and that this company has refused to refund before, I went ahead and called my bank to dispute the charge. read more

I recently rented a home for five nights through Idyllwild Vacation Rentals. Working with the office was easy from booking the house, checking in and leaving the key at check out. The 3bd 2ba house was beautiful and newly updated. Great kitchen with everything we needed to cook all of our meals, and bake an apple pie :-) The views were amazing and the quiet neighborhood was perfect. It was a few minute drive to town. The beds were comfy and so were the linens. The house was VERY clean and overall a perfect rental. I will not only rent through Idyllwild Vacation Rentals again but will rent the same house again. If there were a way to give 0 stars, I would! Everything was fine before the rental and the property itself was fine but I specifically asked for WiFi several times and it wasn't working when I arrived, nor was it fixed when I left a week later. The water wasn't on when I arrived either, by the way. I called and emailed the office several times about the wireless with no response even though their office was close enough for them to tack a note on my door in response. I couldn't drop by the office myself because I was working long hours and their office hours are so short. Do yourself a favor a skip this one. I hear Quite Creek is a good bet but I have no personal experience with them. Anything must be better than these jokers. read more

rented a cabin called sugar pines, they did not warn us this was on a very narrow dirt road to gain access to the cabin it was clean and cozy but no where near walking distance to town as stated. update 2: a refund has yet to be issued. update: 2 days after the fact, they have decided that we do deserve a refund of the 2 days we lost from our trip due to a power outage.. side note, the power is still out. non the less, we will get a refund. we recently stayed for christmas. my mom has always wanted to have a white Christmas and she finally got it. Seemed like it was going to be perfect, my mom, her kids and her grandkids. until high winds knocked out the power leaving us is the freezing cold. my mom called the office and the lady seemed understanding of the circumstances and said we would be reimbursed for the unused time that we planned on staying. she told her wed hang out a few hours to see if conditions changed and if power was restored. by about 3:30 it didnt, so we packed up and headed to the office to return the keys and get something in writing stating that we would get reimbursed, at that time my mom was told there would be no refund. did they expect us to sit in a cold, drafty house with no electricity or heat, overnight in freezing temperatures, with my kids ranging 1 to 9?! if we wanted to sit in the freezing cold we wouldve went camping for $40 a night, why pay $300 a night to sit in the dark?! As I am writing this review a day and a half later and the power is still out with no estimated restoration time. we wouldve loved to stay, but given the conditions we had to leave. we thought idyllwild vacation rentals would've been more understanding, and honor the word of the lady who said we would get reimbursed.. read more

I recently stayed at the Jacinto Lodge property. I have to say it was a picture perfect gorgeous log cabin. All the essentials were provided from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedrooms. The cabin was spotless with well appointed decor including a variety of stained glass lamps, books and pictures on the wall. A basket of warm fuzzy blankets in the living room were a nice touch to go with the big soft red leather sofas. A basket of towels near the door for the hot tub were also a smart idea. The hot tub was spacious, clean and ready to use upon our arrival. The double hammock received a lot of use. As did the large outdoor dining table on the large deck. The showers worked well with plenty of hot water. The quality beds and bedding resulted in restful nights. I emailed in advance to let them know a small wiener dog would be staying. They confirmed this was a dog friendly rental. There were no issues there. Ully had a great time. The large deck is also fenced in making it ideal for smaller pets. We played some of the board games and took in a movie on the big screen tv. The internet was strong as well. The location of the cabin was private enough and only a short drive to the center of Idyllwild. We'll definitely be back! read more

I have never had a bad stay in Idyllwild or had to write a bad review on Yelp until now. My family had a horrible experience with this company. Upon renting a cabin for the weekend I spoke to the company directly about the importance of having a hot tub. My wife had been having back problems and we were looking for a hot tub for the weekend. There were other cabins available but we specifically chose this one because of the hot tub and the company was aware of this. Upon our arrival we were informed that the hot tub didn't work and that someone would be out to fix it. The cabin was also absolutely filthy and the washing machine didn't work. After someone came out to try and fix it and was unsuccessful we moved to another cabin on our second night stay. We asked the company to get reimbursed for the second night because we felt they advertised something they didn't have. They not only refused but were rude saying, "We should just be happy with a cabin in the woods without a hot tub." The arrogance, incompetence and inability to cater to our small needs were astounding. Idyllwild is a beautiful place with terrific people. Idyllwild Vacation Rentals isn't worthy to be associated with such a wonderful place as Idyllwild. This was a very sad experience. Think twice before using this company for your cabin rental. read more

We arrived late Thursday night to find a squeaky clean, well stocked cabin that was already warm with hot water waiting. The fireplace was stocked with wood, kindling and matches. For those of us who rent frequently in Idyllwild this is rare. My family had a terrific time and we were very comfortable, so much so that I have already put down a deposit for next Memorial Day Weekend 2016! read more
