Cabins conveniently located in the middle of town. They are cozy and you can easily walk into town as everything is so close. We had the Fir cabin and the parking for this cabin is right behind it, so it was very convenient. They had a fireplace in the room, which made it that much for "cozy cabin" feels. You need to bring your own firewood, but there is a guy in town that sells it. Comfy beds, comfy sofa. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed at the Fireside Inn Pinyon room for 1 night. We loved the convenient location, we were able to walk to all of the places we shopped or ate at. The Pros- The pillows and bed were comfortable. It was pretty clean for a cabin in the woods. They had wifi and a smart tv. They have a fridge, coffee machine and dishes/silverware. The room is rustic but charming. It was a great and convenient location. The Cons- The bathroom was really small, with no counter space. The window coverings do not keep much light out so it was hard to sleep with it being so bright. There is no one there to check you in. The entire check in is through text message and if you don't have good reception it is hard to get the map to download. The Pinyon sign was not easy for us to find. The times that I spoke to someone on the phone I found that they were not very friendly and sort of curt. I'm not sensitive so it didn't bother me, it was just my observation. Overall we found the Fireside Inn a great place for a short stay. We had a memorable time in Idyllwild and would still stay here again. read more

Stayed in the Ponderosa cabin and it was horribly dark and dingy. The room was so dark we were unable to discern if the main room was clean or not. The bathroom was gross, worn out vinyl flooring, water damage on walls and cabinet, replacement sink and counter didn't align with cabinet, no kick plate under cabinet. We also had a broken window shade, unusable freezer due to frost build up, cloudy water in the coffee maker. The bed was ok, but the pillows were useless. The location was nice but not worth $229 plus tax per night. This cabin needs some serious upgrades. read more

We stayed a weekend at the Lodge house and loved it! The decor is a bit too 'hunting lodgey' for our taste but thats honestly the only downside (except cold bathrooms!). Close to town. Great big front deck and chairs, very clean and fully equipped modern kitchen and bathrooms. Beautiful wood burning fireplace. Lots of good books to read if you don't bring your own. Didn't use the hot tub but it looks nice so maybe on next visit! Will be back for sure perfect place for mountain getaway. read more

discriminated against me! cabceled my booking cuz i didnt feel comfortable or safe stayin here theyrpassive aggressively towards people with service dogs! They need to read ADA guidelines...they tried to get me to pay for cleaning fee for my service dogs and then offering to waive it as a "gesture of goodwill". This was sent less than 24 hours before my booking so I couldn't cancel and get a refund. Absolutely disrespectful and whole heartedly immoral. If other people with service animals have dealt with this I hope they review to see if this is a long standing scam or not. read more

There is no one to check you in - it's all done by text. They will give you a code to enter (last 4 of your cell number). I booked 2 nights here hoping to have a nice visit & stay at the Fireside Inn. We booked the "Fir Cabin". 1. Very outdated... did not really get a good vibe when we walked in. 2. There is a fireplace but you will need to supply the firewood. There is an electric heater for use but it's very small & takes forever to heat up the living room area. 3. Bedroom was large; bed comfy; but linen worn & needs replacing. Wall heater worked. We had to put towels down at the bedroom door so that no critters could get in while we slept which was difficult to do (see #4) 4. First evening, we were watching a movie until I saw a mouse at the corner of the fireplace. That thing ran into the kitchen underneath the refrigerator. We opened the front door hoping it would bolt out when I moved the fridge from the wall. Nope!!! That's why we placed towels at the bedroom door so it couldn't sneak in while we tried to sleep. I actually had to leave a light on all night because I was not comfortable. 5. Upgrades are really needed. *Some kitchen cabinets & drawers missing knobs. Very minimal dishes. I needed to heat up some water & had to wash a pot because it had a greasy residue on it. There was a burn mark on the kitchen wall next to the counter. Also, floor next to the kitchen sink had an area that sunk down as you stepped there (unsafe - subflooring probably needs to be replaced). *Bathroom shower wall was peeling. Bring your own toiletries (shampoo/conditioner and soap provided are not the best). *Furniture worn & dirty. Artwork has got to go (depressing) & the 4 legged hoof lamp gave me the creeps!!! 6. I was not about to get through a second night here, so we left mid afternoon instead of the next day. 7. Save your money ($129/night + taxes). You're better off at a hotel in nearby cities and do a day trip (not too much to do around here anyway). read more

Loved my little cabin! So much room. Plenty of storage. Cute little patio. Parking. Walk to town. A few more wine glasses would have been nice. Ice in the freezer was old. I had to throw it out. One more roll of paper towels could have been useful. The maids have the place right next door and they are noisy in the morning. Fireplace was great. Bring your own firewood or a duraflame log. Heater got hot very fast. Staff was friendly and communicated via text in a timely manner. King bed was so comfortable. Pet bowls under the sink were very thoughtful and poop bags out front, but they ran out. I love that they are so pet friendly! I would definitely stay here again. read more

My husband and I booked the Ponderosa cabin for two nights. We both agreed it was dingy, cold, and smelly. With the lighting being so poor, we could barely see each other let alone properly check for cleanliness. The heater did not work. Instead, we had a small electric heater that barely warmed the room. We had not been notified about the heater prior. No one was at the office, so we didn't even have anyone to ask about the possibility of switching rooms. Due to these issues, the extremely uncomfortable bed, and the constant noise of traffic from the road, we actually ended up leaving early so we wouldn't have to stay for a second night. On a better note, some friends were staying in the Redwood cabin. My husband and I took a peek and it seemed much better maintained and no smell! Our friends said it was cozy and comfortable. Seems we unfortunately picked the crummy cabin. If you decide to try out Fire Side Inn, stay away from the Ponderosa cabin! Also, bring your own water and snacks, as the vending machine is mostly empty except for a couple of old and nasty looking snacks/drinks. read more

The check-in process was terrible. We arrived on site only to have a sign that you need to call a number to check-in. Called the number and said they were going to have someone named Mike text us. Waited for about 20 minutes and still no text. Saw someone in the office but the person decided to close the blinds so we wouldn't be able to see who's inside. We had to finally leave after about 30 minutes of waiting as we had to head back to work. Didn't get a call back from who I'm assuming was Mike until an hour after I called to check-in. Which was to let me know I was getting a text of the access code. I don't care that the check-in process was to get access code thru text--would have been nice for the person we had called to let us know that so we didn't have to waste our time waiting on a phone call that was ultimately useless. the cabin we stayed at, Fern, although was ok, it wasn't what I was expecting. The photos looked better than the actual room. It's outdated and it smelled old. It's mainly the customer service or lack there of is the issue for us. The PROS: Stand-alone cabins are super cozy. The wood fireplaces really nice touch, which is way better than gas fireplaces. The CONS: The management is remote. So if you need help with something, be prepared that the issue won't be resolved in a timely manner. For example, on a day when temperature dropped to near freezing, the cabin's heater should have been working. As it was after hours (the policy states after 7pm, there will be no one to respond) I didn't ask for help once I realized the heater was dead around 10pm. Luckily, I had enough firewood to keep me warm through out the night. It would have been a VERY unpleasant stay otherwise, especially with a non-working heater. At around 8am the next day, I texted the owner. She apologized and said she would send someone immediately. I updated her several times as the maintenance guy was a no show for several hours. The maintenance guy didn't show up until AFTER 11am. (Luckily, I had asked for a late check out at noon, otherwise I would have left the cabin as a popsicle. I didn't even ask for a comp with the reservation, but rather asked her consider giving me a discount the NEXT TIME. A reasonable ask! Suddenly, it was crickets! Overall, the owner fell really short of customer service. I would not recommend coming here. read more

Like everything in this adorable town, this Inn was no exception. Nothing short of amazing. I hesitate even writing reviews for anything in Idyllwild because I want to keep it all to myself. We stayed at the Pem Tem Weha cabin and it's ideal for a family (big or small). Plenty of room & separate living areas. The fenced in yard is an added bonus as we brought our fur kid. The staff, the instructions, the cabin... simply lovely. I highly recommend FSI. read more

We stayed here 3 days last week and had the Ponderosa cabin. We loved it, the kitchen was great, and we made breakfast every day instead of eating out. We had a nice fire every night as well. Loved the fact that you can park right at your door. It makes it really easy to unpack and pack. While there is no one there at the office, they were very helpful and responsive with text messages welcoming you and giving you your door code. We arrive shortly after 3 (check in) and the door code worked perfect. We were all set up and ready to go easily. We stayed in a different cabin a few years ago when we had our beloved Husky and we had a similar experience, so also dog friendly. Highly recommended for walking distance to town and a nice little mountain cabin. read more

Get ready for 'rustic.' We stayed in the Ponderosa room which is the very first cabin just 10 feet or so from the road (think car noise). It's a tiny studio, with a tiny bathroom and tiny kitchen. That said, the bed and chairs are very comfortable and the decor is cute. Don't plan on hanging up very many things because you have to crawl over the bed to get to the closet. If you don't mind tight quarters, you will be fine here. I have a feeling that most of the other cabins are bigger and would have been better for us. Oh, one more thing to know. There is no on site management. All communication is by text. It worked really well for us, however, do check everything out as soon as you arrive, so that you are not caught late at night trying to get support. read more

Stayed in the Racoon room for one night last night. The room was pretty cozy nice king bed, fireplace and heaters but unfortunately we were missing HOT WATER!!! the first thing we wanted to do after our long journey and killing time in town due to the late check in was to take a Hot Shower. Impersonal service! They're working remotely due to C0VlD . Really? Everything is done by text messages. So annoying! I had to text Nancy back and forth to resolve the hot water issue. She sent the maintenance guy to turn on the water heater and still all we got was Warm Water . Not hot enough for a shower . It never got hot. We couldn't shower . Left this morning to finally come home and take a shower. $185 a night for this room. Not worth it. Never heard from management. They didn't offer a discount. Weird!! Maybe the water heater is broken? I'll not go back. read more

Giving this 1 star for the most important part of your stay. THE BED! Overpriced for the experience! We stayed in the squirrels nest, appropriately titled for this springy mattress. It felt like we were sleeping on a donated mattress, one that had been shaped to someone's body over the years! My girlfriend at least had a good laugh because it reminded her of a "I Love Lucy" episode. I should've had her pack me in the mattress divot like Ethel did Fred in that episode, maybe I could've gotten some rest. We went by the 4.5 star reviews, but clearly none of the reviewers have slept in the squirrels nest. If they have then this is probably the first time they've seen running water. Also there was a street light and the lighted sign out front shining through our paper thin curtains all night. Next we have the mini fridge balancing a microwave rocking on a tiny stand. Watch your feet! Or your small kids, dangerous! Another sense of nostalgia was the shower, I haven't seen a setup like this since I was a kid at camp. It's a shame because the cabin could be great with improvements and it's nice walking distance into town. Cheers! Replying to the owners comment: You say the photos are terrible! Yet the photos are of the room you rented me and you admit they are terrible. What does that say? If you don't like the honest review about the room. Stayed in the Fir cabin two nights. 9-12-24 to 9-14-24. Room was OK but ''Tired''. Room was more like an AirB&B. There is no one to talk to other than a remote booking agent. Wanted some info on all the fires in the area but no help. The smart-ass at booking site [ Utah ] said I called the wrong number. I barked at him that this is the only number on the web site. The cabin was OK but little things were in rough shape. Main light in the bathroom was out the tile around the tub was painted with house paint and pealing. It was like a real cabin in the woods --- a little tired and rough around the edges. At over 200 dollars a night it could have been better. read more

It was our first visit to Idyllwild. We were excited about the mountain cabin vibe offered on website. The first thing I noticed when we walked into the Ponderosa cabin was the overwhelming smell of propane gas coming from the kitchen. The pillowcases were torn and ripped as were the towels. The shower had mold and the vanity had unfinished floor under it and old cracked calking along the side that didn't even meet up to the side of the shower. It was so dark with such poor lighting that I couldn't even read a book. We were so disappointed and will never NEVER stay here again. read more

I hope that the smell in the carpet and furniture was not decomp. If it was decomp I pray it wasn't human. We were aware of the fires and floods in the area and new it would be a challenge getting into Idyllwild. My niece was getting married and instead of driving back to Riverside after the wedding we wanted to spend the night and drive back on Sunday morning. We had no previous experience with the area or its offerings. I found a room (lodge at fireside) for about $230USD. After the arduous trip with detours and alternate routes, we arrived in time to check in, change and head to the venue. I noticed the odor but was more concerned with not being late. We were being shuttled to the wedding venue. I didn't mention the door that would neither open nor lock properly. You had to finagle it just so and give it a little kick on the lower left side. When we returned from the party the odor was prominent and the disinfectant cleaner was merely a poor mask for the carnage that must have occurred here previously. I was concerned about the outside little creatures might make their way inside until I saw all the steel wool that had been stuffed into each crevice and mouse hole. The spiral staircase threatened excitement each time we trusted it up or down. Dirty carpets, stained ceilings and walls, rancid rugs and furniture didn't allow for a comfortable sleep even though the sheets and pillow cases seemed fresh and clean. If this was my cabin and I had relatives coming to stay, I would be embarrassed to offer this as a living space for free. Imagine how we feel having paid Newport Beach type prices to stay here. Well if you want to quote from my phone conversation, which happened AFTER the call, be accurate. I said it "smelled as if someone peed from the "loft" down onto the living room furniture and rugs. Again the pricing is still not the issue. Thanks for pointing out my error in attempting to book your property. I am pleased to see my comments motivated you to replace the carpet. What about the stained walls ( water leakage damage), the door that didn't close securely and the wall holes filled with steel wool. Did you take offense at me pointing those out? Check out my reviews, I don't have any ulterior motives or look to describe anything I didn't experience. I review places to give notice of conditions and qualities that people will enjoy or avoid depending on my experience. Had reservation for this Labor Day weekend. Got a call from their new property management company. The lady I spoke with let us know 3 rooms had flooded and because the Inn was booked they would move us to one of their homes for the same rate, the place they offered us wasn't my style but after reviewing their website I was able to get another property for a steal!!! Door code didn't work. Had to book another place to stay the night all the way down the mountain. The next day the power was shut off on a 95 degree day. Horrible customer service from the owner. Wouldn't offer any kind of solution. Very rude and talks over you. Small dark and dank room. Old and outdated. Wouldn't recommend even as a last resort. read more

We stayed in Oak Leaf and had a lovely time. My reservation included my dog and I loved that management was thoughtful enough to put out food and water bowls for her. When I first sat on the bed the mattress seemed very hard and I thought it would be uncomfortable but we actually got a great night's sleep. I loved the art above the bed and the thoughtful little touches throughout the room. Normally I won't touch hotel soap or hair products but the Fireside provided quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner which we really appreciated. Our room was adorable and toasty warm. The kitchenette was stocked with everything we needed to make dinner. The location is close enough to town that you can walk to town center but far enough away to give that secluded feel. Management was super helpful and kind and very responsive. Will definitely make this our new Idyllwild go-to when we stay up here. read more

Serene. Inviting. These are all words I can describe the Fireside Inn Cabins. Located just over a mile out of the heart of the village, the cabin complex is in a different area than the Inn cottages itself. You are still within wonderful cell phone reception while being snugly in the woods. We stayed in the Warbler, which is a duplex unit connected to the Thrush. Things we loved about it: -Kitchen had plates and silverware stocked. -Roomy refrigerator -Microwave / stove included -Shower seemed new -Heater works very well -Roomy floorplan -Rustic furniture -Large patio to the rear Things that could have been better: -The heater bumped and thumped loudly, woke us up a few times -Thin walls, we could clearly hear our very noisy neighbors -The couch was worn and sunk uncomfortably in areas -Thin 1-ply toilet paper lol (hey it matters!) The service was very friendly! Glenda was very helpful! The pricing was affordable, and cabin was clean and cozy! We would most certainly return. Next time though, I would choose an unattached cabin, or stay at the Inn cottages in town as those are in walking distance of shops and restaurants. And I'll bring my own TP. This place has seen better days. The bathroom has mold on the ceiling, the sink is coming off of the wall, the toilet seat is crumbling and there's been a constant march of ants in the kitchen. Not to mention the dead plant in the kitchen and the faux deer horn utensils. I wish the reality of place matched the cute pics on the website. Disappointing to say the least. This property is self serve! There's no one actually there. We asked for 2 beds and they didn't bother to make up or even pullout the trundle mattress! There weren't any sheets for the 2nd bed. The shower was a joke! My sink at home has more pressure and there was no ice available. read more

The Fireside Inn is a gem! It's a diamond in the rough! My wife and I stayed in the Acorn room. The place was very clean! The place is older, it's an older property that shows and that is the charm and it's okay because the place is clean and cool! The Fireside Inn has got that cool, old-school woodsy cabin-from yesteryear, sorta vibe. The place has great folk art on the walls, old National Geographic magazines to read, great coffee table books about antiques and mountains... The fireplace Inn is spectacular. The carpet fits, the kitchen are older and styled to the period and fully stocked with what you need to cook meals in and the wood paneled walls make the place complete. The property was recently acquired by a couple who is making constant upgrades to the property. The outdoor areas have new patio furniture and new grills for you to use. I think that the Fireside In will get better and better and better. My advice, is to get in now so you can say "We used to go to the Fireside Inn when it was rustic and cool and not so darn busy and hard to book a room!" That's my advice! And this advice will only make it harder for my Wife and I to get back there. We loved it. We are grateful to the owners for providing is such a place to stay and relax and enjoy a weekend away from our day to day lives. Thanks so much, We will be back! read more

Never encountered problem like this before..We were told by their property management 2 days before our trip that our room was flooded and our stay canceled. (The rest of the property was fully booked out) The replacement lodging was a sad little room that would've been charged at full price, and the front desk was rude and unhelpful when we called to inquire about the issue. Overall a very disappointing experience that we don't wish upon anyone. read more

I've been coming to Fireside for many years, but had not been here since new owners took over due to cancer treatments and covid. Although I am bummed that the stay two nights get a third night free no longer exists, I was excited to see the changes that have been made. I like how easy check in is with the code for the door. I instantly liked the changes in decor. Still Rustic and a bit retro, but without the "grandma's house" feel. I really like the new carpet, and very much like that the back area (off of Blue Jay) is cleaned up and has new fencing and is more useable now. However, there are some definite downsides. First and foremost the new king size bed. It's horribly uncomfortable. Very, very stiff, which in turn is how I woke up, with a very stiff back. It's also too large for the area and therefore there are no bedside tables. Having sleep apnea I have to sleep with a machine next to the bed. With no bedside tables I had to improvise and put a chair in the doorway between the bedroom and the kitchen area. This just isn't practical or convenient. There are also no easy spots to plug in your chargers. Where there are outlets there are no tables or desks/dressers......where there are tables there are no outlets. So my phone and watch charged on a chair overnight. Same For outside chairs, while reading there is no table or shelf to put a drink on. Small inconveniences, but so easily fixable to make a more pleasant experience. The common area outside is beautifully done with lots of different seating areas and barbecues for guest use. The small items would not deter me from Staying here again, however, the bed is a dealbreaker. read more

I have to admit I wasn't too sure about this place when I drove by in fact I was going to search for another place on my phone but I called Fireside Inn instead and I'm really glad I Did!
