I had a very bad experience with this sitter. I had to go to NYC for a month and wanted twice…read moredaily visits for my elderly ill kitty who had just lost his brother and was in a new apt less than a week before I had to leave. She balked at 2 daily visits because it wasn't convenient for her. So I got sporadic days with 2 visits and most with 1 visit. Two weeks in, she threatened to leave the key inside my apt and not return because I had "insulted her" by texting a question about the cat I've lived with for 14 years since he was born. It caused me great stress and almost cost me a fortune in on-the-spot airfare back to Colorado. She finished the month but when I came home, my apt was basically a pig sty. Litter and clumps of fur everywhere, vomit not cleaned up and the litter box had never been completely changed out and washed, just scooped with new litter added. The smell was horrid. The Drinkwell fountain had mold growing out of the basin and down the front. I left 4 new filters. She had changed the filter only once and put it in backwards. It took an hour with bleach, q-tips and toothpicks to clean all the mold out of it. The spotbot I left to clean up anywhere he vomited also had an amazing amount of mold inside the tank. I've never had mold in there with the most minimal of rinsing after use. Of the 12 bags of treats I provided, only 1 had been opened. I know she came daily and gave my cat attention, but I think she is better suited to visits of a day or two away and not a long visit. I have used other sitters when I've been away for a month or more and never had the communication difficulties or come home to such uncared for conditions. I would never let anyone I know use this sitter.

She lives nearby (north Aurora, near the Anschutz Medical Campus), her rates are reasonable, and she's very reliable. She comes by the house once a day (more often for an extra charge), feeds the cats, cleans the litterbox, and gives them some attention, if they'll allow it. (My cats are a little shy with strangers, but at least they'll occasionally come out of hiding for Barb.) She keeps a daily log, which she leaves with her bill. If asked, she'll even water plants, bring in mail, and put out and bring in the trash bin. She has dogs and cats of her own, so you know she knows what she's doing. It's always reassuring to know the girls are in capable, caring hands while I'm away.

I have had the worst experiences with Wardle's and just want to warn others…read more In June 2024, as a brand new chicken owners, I bought 3 Rhode Island Red hens from them. I was not able to go into the coop with the sales associate so he just went in, grabbed whatever three hens he could get and put them in my carrier. When I got home and took them out, I noticed one could barely walk. I tried to give her some rescue 911 electrolytes in her water and access to food thinking maybe getting scooped up and put in a box and then being in a car for 15 minutes was a stress on her nervous system and she just needed some time to acclimate. I called Wardle's to tell them what happened and asked if I could switch her for another hen. The manager told me no because she could be sick... even though that meant they had just sold me a sick chicken. She struggled for weeks. We had to keep her in a separate coop and spent countless dollars on a ton of different supplements trying to figure out what was wrong with her and to keep her alive. Finally we tried Vitamin B12 and after a few days of it in her water, she able to walk normally. Although she was always a pretty sickly chicken and not even a year later we found her dead in the coop one morning (no sign of attack or any injuries). Fast forward to September of 2025. We wanted to get a few chicks to raise and integrate with our flock. Against my better judgement, we went back to Wardle's to get chicks. They only had 4 week olds and again, we weren't allowed in the room where the brooders were to pick the ones we wanted so we just told the associate how many and which breeds. We got 3 gold laced Wyandottes, a Rhode Island Red and a Barred Rock. I looked in the box and noticed one of the hens had a pretty big comb. I asked if that was normal because we definitely didn't want a rooster. They assured me it was a hen. 3 months later, our "hen" has started crowing. We can't have roosters in Lakewood so now we have to find someone to take him or cull him. It breaks my heart. Of note, since then we have ordered chicks from McMurray and Meyer's Hatchery and had really healthy, beautiful, hens. Not a single rooster. I would highly recommend ordering from a hatchery over buying any chickens from Wardle's!
