As both a REALTOR® and a homeowner, I've trusted Alvarado Roofing for years. They've proven to be honest and reliable--on multiple occasions, they've told me that no work was needed on a roof during a real estate transaction, which speaks volumes about their integrity. I've had the pleasure of working with both Javier and Tristan. They are professional, respectful, punctual, and take the time to explain everything clearly so that I--and my clients--fully understand the roof's condition. Today, Javier inspected both my home and my rental property, and I've always appreciated his optimism paired with straightforward honesty about what truly needs attention. I will continue to recommend Alvarado Roofing with confidence. In an industry where trust matters most, their honesty. Teresa Morrison | Coldwell Banker Legacy read more

Paid them to replace vent boots and skylight on my roof as I only have leaks at the penetrations. Not only did they not repair them, they've made everything worse. The skylight was jammed in (the roofer said the new skylight was bigger than the old one) and the drywall surrounding the skylight was damaged on the inside of the house. One of the vent pipes was bent. A few of the leaks are worse than before they came out. read more

We have had two experiences with them the last 2 years for the TPI roof. Very competitive pricing, the workers were very friendly and professional , and they did a good job cleaning up after themselves. They have been in busy a long time so I feel good that they will take of my roof if anything goes wrong. I think its a family business.. read more

After two other roofing companies tried and failed to repair an area on our roof near our chimney, we had to go looking for another company. The prior roofers thought just continuing to slap tar on the area was the solution which never actually fixed the problem. We called Alvarado for a quote. They were professional and showed up on time and once they inspected the area, they pinpointed exactly what the issue was (which had never been mentioned by the other two companies) and explained to us how it would need to be fixed. They showed us pictures of everything, followed up shortly with a written estimate, and scheduling. We had to wait a bit for the repairs to happen (about a month) but so far, so good. On the day of repair they showed up when they said they would and even though the crew was different than the estimators, they knew exactly what to do. With previous companies we had to go through everything all over again with each person so it was a bit of an adventure. With Alvarado, they had sketches of what needed to be done and the crew was able to get to work immediately. This also seems small but another testament that they take the work seriously is they were all in safety gear- vests, hard hats, etc. which none of the other companies were. When they completed the job (a few hours later), they again showed pictures of everything and seemed to do a good job cleaning up the area they were in. Nearly every single roofer seems to have terrible reviews and we held off for a long time from being let down again by yet another but I'm glad that we found them. It was a bummer that we had to pay a 3rd company to get the job done right but I'm much more confident that this one will hold. If there are any follow up issues, I will be sure to update my review. read more

Thank you Alvarado roofing!!!!! Professionalism, excellent service, reliable, and descent price!!!!! Thanks Adam and Chelsea!!!!

Fantastic from beginning to end. Javier and his team got the old tar and gravel off and replaced with TPO in 3 days! They were efficient, communicative, and knowledgeable. The following weekend we had a severe thunderstorm and we couldn't be more grateful for their excellent work! read more

I had an older roof redone last week and I am very happy with Alvarado. I had an old and cracked bitumen roof and got quotes from a couple of companies to replace it. They came in significantly lower than my other quote at Territorial Roofing. David came to do the quote and was very responsive with the multiple questions I had. The crew came early in the morning and applied the tar and gravel in one day (I didn't have to have anything removed). So far it has held up to the one rainstorm we have had this year. I will definitely recommend them to others. read more

I had my roof replaced a few weeks ago. Everything went smoothly and I was impressed by the customer service I received. I got an estimate within a day of my initial call. I ended up choosing Alvarado after comparing a couple of other estimates. Once I called to accept their bid I was emailed a choice of shingles. I wanted to see them in person, so someone dropped off samples later that day. Once I had chosen a color, I was able to schedule the re-roofing within a week. It was completed all in one day. The roofers arrived early, about 6:15 and went to work. My dogs weren't thrilled and especially didn't like the singing, but I was happy that the employees were cheerful. They also repaired some rott in the soffit and facia that I was going to repair with my dad, but was priced so reasonably that it made no sense to do it ourselves. An inspector came the next day, and I received the invoice after that. I was emailed and snail mailed a proof of payment immediately. A couple weeks later, I also received a "thanks for your business" note along with a Starbucks giftcard. I felt like that is a personal touch that many businesses don't bother with these days. Over the last week we have had several downpours and I haven't had any issues with the roof, plus it looks great! Clean up was good, they laid plastic around the perimeter of the house and took all their trash. They also brought an outhouse so no need to let strangers in to use my restroom. I have found a couple of nails that were missed in the back yard but overall I feel like the cleanup was adequate. read more

After a hail storm totaled our flat roof, we reached out to several roofers around town to get estimates for replacement. Alvarado responded promptly and Chris provided us with a clear explanation of our options and a discussion of which roof would work best for us. He also worked with the State Farm claims adjusters to make sure we got the roof we needed. We were also pleased with the professional communication from Chelsea in the office to get our replacement roof scheduled. When the crew showed up to replace the roof, they did an outstanding job of installation and cleanup. We could not be happier with the project from start to finish. We give them our highest recommendation. read more

On time and very quick. They redid my whole roof including replacing 4 skylights in one day. They even gave me a military discount. They followed up to see if there were any problems . They have my business for life read more

We hired Alvarado to do a complete reroof on a rental that we own. A few months later we found extensive black mold growing in a little used closet. The cause was an uncaulked canale near the closet, causing water to leak into the walls. Inspection and repair of canales was specified in our contract and we paid for that. Alvarado refused to honor the contract or fix the problem. They said canales are not part of a reroof. We ended up paying over $3000 to remediate the mold, rebuild the closet and caulk the canale. Alvarado refused to pay anything towards the problem and ignored our calls and letters. We decided not to sue them, knowing that that would cost us more money. The mold remediation specialist said Alvarado is ok if they do the work right but they are terrible when they screw up. read more

We recently had our roof redone by Alvarado Roofing and we couldn't have asked for a better experience from the very beginning to the very end of the process. From the beginning Chris was a dream to work with. He was extremely patient answering all of my many questions promptly and honestly. Scheduling was also very simple working with Chelsea. She was also very responsive and flexible each time I contacted her. The best part of the project was when the crew showed up every day promptly when they stated they would be there and worked diligently in the heat every single day until the job was complete. They would let us know when they arrived each day and they would let us know when they were leaving after cleaning up every little thing. You could never tell that they had been there each day and that was wonderful. The best part of the entire project was the beautiful roof that we now have. Definitely happy that we did our research and made the choice to go with Alvarado Roofing! read more

Alvarado Roofing replaced our flat roof with TPO and the entire experience was very stress-free and went smoothly. All the employees we encountered were very professional and patient with our questions. Phone calls and emails were returned quickly and the work was done according to the agreed schedule. This home improvement project was like a dream...phone calls returned and work done according to the contract. We would highly recommend Alvarado Roofing. read more

Alvarado Roofing has taken advantage of us. After preparing an estimate for repairing 2 hundred square foot sections of our roof, their work team only patched an area of approximately 46 square feet. They patched over an existing repair which was not the source of the leak according to other companies that came to bid. In response to our concerns, John told us that we should flood the roof to see if the patch held which would risk further damage to our ceiling. After approaching Alvarado Roofing regarding their breach of contract in only repairing less than half of the area planned we were given the option of paying less. Instead of ~ $780 we could pay $700. When we balked at this, we received an email threatening a lien on our house if we did not pay immediately. This is the kind of company that gives contractors a reputation for being unprofessional and untrustworthy. read more

I hired Alvarado to do a roof tear down on our home we purchased. The list of items demonstrating poor professionalism cannot be extended any further. To start, when they showed up they stated that they were not intending to tear down our old roof when that was what was stated in our initial bid for the roof job. Other than not cleaning up their mess, and getting tar and caulking all over our skylights, the overall job didn't appear to be done poorly. To follow, we thought the roof job was done fine. However, within two weeks we noticed problems. For one, there was rain and we recognized ponding. They agreed to try and shore up or remedy the issue, and it is better after they fixed it. But, it should have been done right with slope the first time and they said my roof design didn't allow for it. False. So we got the cheap fix - not done the right way. It gets better. I had new insulation sprayed in my ceiling which poured all over my roof and on the ground in my backyard. I contacted them on a Friday night and they did come by the next week to fix it. The reason we had insulation blow out everywhere was because they are incredibly lazy and have no attention to detail. They didn't replace the screens on our roof vents. Instead they threw them inside the vent unsecured so they served no purpose. Thank god my contractor recognized this (he was repairing a structural issue and my ceiling). I find it basically impossible to write an excuse for them with this. They just were lazy and didn't feel like putting the screens back on. Then they came back to fix the situation. Instead of doing the job the right way so that the screens were effective, they barely secured them on with the wrong screws, which resulted in an ineffective barrier with large gaps (critters could still crawl into the space above my ceiling). I complained to David at Alvarado who responded he would take care of it, which would have made me a relatively happy customer. He could have agreed that Alvarado's service was done poor and that his team could notify me if I had broken screens that needed repair. I would have been ok had I gotten any communication regarding our screens or vents needing more repair, but instead they dug their head in the sand. I would have been happy to pay them or someone to fix it, but did they notify me of any of this? Nope. Roofing company that has been in the business for 30 years doesn't know how to recognize or repair a roof vent screen, and doesn't care. David requested an invoice for screen repair from my contractor. I sent this to him. This followed with him refusing to assist in any further matters, including my screens on the roof vents. He wrote an incredibly disrespectful email with the following: 1. questioning my credibility (my credibility is in question?). 2. stating they would not repair "anything else i come up with" (seriously- I just come up with things) and 3. "our business is concluded." My experience with David was initially that he was respectful and professional. Unfortunately it ended with nothing but absolute lack of professionalism and personal attacks on me. When it comes to accountability for doing a decent job, they have none. They don't care if you are happy so long as you give them a check for the project. I just wouldn't pay Alvarado for your roof job until you have it inspected by someone else. They are careless with no attention to detail. Despite repeated visits from both David and his team, I still have scrap metal on my property. Don't worry though, we only paid them over $29,000 for the roof job and expected it to be complete. Way to much to ask from this unhappy customer. read more

Just an update I have sold the roof that alvarado put on my house. When the new buyer tried to transfer the warranty alvarado refused too unless I remove my yelp reviews. In addition they have employees put up false reviews. I guess a warranty is truly only as good as the person who gives it to you. read more

I contacted Billy at Alvarado roofing for recommendations for a new roof. Within hours after contacting the office we were on the schedule, and within a few days we had everything we needed. I let him know we were having some slight leakage from one skylight. Billy said "no problem", got some silicone from his truck and did a temporary fix on the problem so we were good for the winter until the roof work could be done this summer. This happened before we hired Alvarado Roofing to do the job! This small act of kindness, his cheerful demeanor, and professionalism are the reasons we hired Alvarado Roofing. Billy took the time to explain to me, a new homeowner the details, he coordinated with our insurance company, and was there for us every step of the way from the initial meeting to the roof completion. Chelsea in the office is prompt with email and telephone replies, they were patient with the final payment from our insurance company, and the roof and new skylights look fantastic. We started with one figure for the cost to replace, Alvarado roofing delivered ahead of schedule and not a dime over projected cost. We did our homework to find the best in Albuquerque, Alvarado Roofing did not disappoint. read more

We contacted Alvarado about a partial roof replacement, they provided a reasonably-priced and detailed quote. Initial estimate for their availability was almost 6 months out. They contacted us a couple of weeks later and said they could perform the work within a month. We indicated to them via phone that we would be able to pay approximately half the repair cost up front, but that it would take several months for us to pay the balance. After that conversation, they called a few days later to say that they were available to perform the roof replacement in one week. We were pleased, and indicated once again that we had money on hand to cover half the cost, with the remainder to be paid in full in about 5 months. David at Alvarado told me (and I quote), "We'll work with you on that." I signed the estimate and they performed the work, which required an inspection from the city. The city inspector came and went, and I heard no indication that the work performed was not up to code. I emailed David to thank him and his crew for the work done in an excellent and timely manner, and to remind him of our verbal agreement for half now, half by 8/31/19. I received an email the next day in response saying that we had only 84 days to pay the balance in full, or incur a "late fee" in excess of $1000 (on an invoice totaling under $6000) and a lien on my home "to protect their interests". David breached his verbal contract to "work with us" on the balance of the invoice to threaten us with additional fees and legal action, fully aware of the conditions we had discussed with him for repayment before work began. The invoice for the work contained only information about interest accrual on any outstanding balance, and aside from the emails sent by David we have neither seen nor signed any document that outlines the terms David insisted upon after the work was done. This behavior is utterly unprofessional, and I will never make the mistake of hiring a contractor through a verbal agreement again. read more

Our 10-year old gravel roof never leaked, ever! We called Alvarado to get an estimate because we had snow blowing in through our skylights during high winds, but never had any roof leaks or damage. In order to get the entire roof upgraded at once, we hired Alvarado to install a new expensive TPO roof including skylight replacement and stucco patching on the parapet walls. Immediately after Alvarado installed the new roof, it began leaking in multiple places every time it rained hard. Alvarado did a good job on the installation work, but installed the TPO without connecting it into the water barriers. With our original roof, water leaking through stucco cracks in the parapet walls flowed onto the roof and down the gutters. After Alvarado scraped off the original roof, any stucco leaks flowed under the TPO into the house. Alvarado came out many times and caulked small cracks in the stucco with no luck. After trying this myself for two years, I got other roofers to look at the problem. All agreed that the only way to fix the leaking is to add a second water barrier on the parapet walls that drains on top of the TPO. Recently, we had another roofer install new stucco with a waterproof base coat over all of the work that Alvarado did. This finally fixed our leaking, no thanks to Alvarado who denies any responsibility. BE FOREWARNED! Use Alvarado at your own risk! Don't repeat our mistake and trust them as experts. Do your homework and read the TPO installation procedures which describe that the TPO membrane must be connected into water barriers on parapet walls. read more

The office manager is rude. She has excuse after excuse for her mistakes. She cancelled an estimate of mine without my permission. Her definition of "estimate and scheduling" is the same thing. Duh. Then claimed it wasn't her mistake. If you can get past her, you might receive some service. Difficult to do business with these people. Beware!! read more

Alvarado Roofing put a new roof on my house and they were amazing. Ten men showed up and they had a crane to lift the shingles on to the roof. The job was finished in one day! They cleaned up all the debris and hauled away my old gutters. I found them to be kind and polite and did exactly what they said they would do. The roof has a 10 year warranty and I am very happy. read more

I used Alvarado Roofing a few years ago and I would use them again. I found them professional and competent and all of their staff and crew to be friendly and easy to work with. They cleaned up all of the debris from the roofing materials. I did find a few nails but I figured that was probably pretty normal. I received a bid from them before the job with a scope of work and they completed all items. They uncovered some bad places on the roof and replaced the wood for a nominal charge. After the original installation I removed 2 swamp coolers that were on the roof and Alvarado did the repair work. The roof looks great. I have never had any leaks or flying shingles or problems of any kind. I would highly recommend them. read more

My business partner and I have just completed the re-roofing (with Alvarado Roofing) and replacement of twelve HVAC units (with HVAC company) on a commercial building in Albuquerque.  Because of the size of this endeavor and issues regarding the schedule of the surgical center housed in the building, the planning for the project required several months of co-ordination between tenant, roofing company, and HVAC contractor.  Both the Alvarado Roofing Company and HVAC contractor came highly recommended and each made adjustments for schedule changes a number of times. When finally initiated, the project proceeded smoothly until a crucial point.  Mid job, there was a heavy rainstorm which resulted in significant water intrusion into the building, because there were areas where the flashing around the HVAC curbs was left unsealed.  At this point, neither Alvarado Roofing nor the HVAC contractor, would assume responsibility for their failure to properly co-ordinate in this matter.  In the end, we got a job of lesser quality and we ended up paying for their mistakes. We caution owners of similar projects to be absolutely certain that there is a mutual agreement on the specifications of the job and that they will take full responsibility for their work. read more

Alvarado Roofing replaced the tar and gravel roof in our house with TPO. To our surprise within days we had several large pools of water. In fact, well over 60% of the roof was covered by pools of water as deep as ¾". We never had that problem with the tar and gravel roof. We were told by the Alvarado sales rep (Mr.H) that they are not responsible for pooling of water in the roof (it is stated in the contract that I signed.... So beware!). Mr. H offered relocating the TPO seams away from the canales to possibly improve flow, but needed to check with the company owner. The owner took a look at it and decided that it did not merit the extra work...... case closed. Mr. H proceeded in telling me that the reason we didn't see any pooling before is because of the self-leveling properties of tar. Possible, but shouldn't he disclose that while he made the sales pitch for TPO? Furthermore he stated that the amount of water in the roof was well within code....mmm? I don't claim to be a roof expert, but having hundreds of gallons of water in the roof over time cannot be good for the structure of the house, particularly when we didn't have that problem to start with! Lessons learned: be careful what you sign, and specially, don't use Alvarado Roofing for your roofing needs. read more
