Brian Hasegawa and his team at Aluminum Shake Roofing are awesome! My 1st call to Brian was to inquire if they could help to pull a sample section of my old shingles so that I could file a claim with the manufacturer. Without hesitation or a commitment from me to use them for my new, Brian said that they can help. Brian and a worker showed up to pull the singles and replace with a temporary section, took pictures, and measurements needed to file the claim. Brian even mailed and submitted the claim for me for a very small fee (which was credited back to me on my purchase of the new roof). I decided that I wanted to move forward to replace my roof with Aluminum Shake Roofing. Brian explained the benefits and cost then had my estimate ready to review a few days. Brain also went to our Association to file the necessary paperwork for the permit and got the approvals from them. They did additional work by removing my existing solar fans, repaired the section since I was not going to replace them, and replaced some of the water damaged fascia around my roof. The roofing crew was very polite professional, and cleaned up after every work day! It's been been 4 months since I had my new Aluminum Shake Roof, we had heavy rain and gusty winds during these 4 months. I just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge that after more than 19 years since installation I have been very pleased with the Aluminum Shake Roofing product especially since my home is located on the Windward side and within 800 feet of Kaneohe Bay. The manufacturer truly stands behind their products. The crown shingles developed some peeling of the Kynar 500 coating. After an investigation it was determined that apparently there was a manufacturing snafu. Once that was determined, the replacement shingles were shipped from the manufacturer and the originally installed crown shingles were removed and the new replacement shingles installed at no cost to the homeowner. Be very cautious when cleaning the roofs that no strong chemicals are used to clean it as certain chemicals could damage the Kynar 500 coating. In my case I used the shingle manufacturer's approved product called, "Wet and Forget" to remove the blue & green algae (that actually looks black). Although these roofs resist the growth, given the wet climate and in my case close proximity to large mango trees it began to show about 8 years after installation. My only mistake was not addressing it when it began. So I hired Aluminum Shake Roofing to power wash it off. It's much cheaper to use "Wet & Forget" for roofs when it first begins to show the black-looking algae. Just need your garden hose and attach it to the bottle with the built-in nozzle and turn on the hose full blast. Can reach up to 30 ft (or more if you use a ladder). read more

Aluminum Shake Roofing recently replaced one of my clients old asphalt worn shingles with a suitable Aluminum Shake Roofing which turned out very well. Brian met with the customer and I a couple of times to explain the difference between the life span of Aluminum Shake versus asphalt shingles, he provides several references, and a color wheel of the array of Aluminum Shake Shingle Colors to choose from. He also mentioned the complementary flashing colors as well. Together we were able to work through adjustments to the 1" Facia boards that were previously not "plum cut" and beef them up with some 2" x 6" and 2" x 8" throughout the entire perimeter of the home after plumb cutting the rafters. We decided to go with Aluminum Shake Roofing to re-roof our house. From the start, we were comfortable with our choice. We decided to go with Aluminum and are happy we did. We noticed that the house was cooler immediately. We chose Aluminum Shake Roofing because they primarily install Aluminum Shakes. They don't sell or install Asphalt shingles or Concrete tiles. They also were able to complete a considerable amount of extra work. We had them do everything from repainting the gables, to moving the solar fan. They had to replace a few rafters and fascia boards. They also increased the airflow in the attic by adding the right amount of attic vents. They can do everything. We reroofed a few weeks ago and Aluminum Shake Roofing did a great job!!! We originally went with the Rustic Shingles, but had a lot of problems. Not sure if it was the roofing company that installed it or if the Rustic Shingles are just not as good as the Country Manor Shake. We had a lot of leaks and could never find the problem. We finally found Aluminum Shake Roofing on the web and Brian showed us the differences between the Rustic Shingle and the Country Manor Shake that they install. He also informed me that ASR focuses on the sales and installation of the Country Manor Shake, unlike most roofing companies, who install several different types of roofs. Aluminum shake roof is a terrific product. What convinced us about this roof was seeing how their product stood up to age on 20+ year houses around our neighborhood. They looked in great shape. Compared to asphalt, it's a much cooler and durable product. The interior temperature of our house went from uncomfortably warm in the afternoons to comfortable cool.
