Used Ferris at first to unload 4 uship containers when moving in. Called them back and asked them…read moreto perform furniture assembly. They came out the next day, put 2 garage shelving units together, a cabinet, entertainment center and bed together. Took a little longer than anticipated, but modern furniture with electronics included can be complicated. They got the work done, and it all functions great. Their price is a value for anyone moving into a home and trying to get unpacked, offloaded and setup right away. The crew is congenial, easy going and hard working, so I recommend these guys for any moving or assembly needs in the Johnstown area. Plan on hiring them a third time for the last batch of uship stuff still in transit!

But if you just need boxes loaded and unloaded, and you don't mind supervising them, they were courteous, willing to follow instructions, and available fast. Politeness/courtesy: 10/10. Loading the truck: 9/10. Packing: 1/10, terrible. (Company sent completely untrained packers, they'd never packed before. They were trying, but didn't even know to put paper fill on the bottom or top of boxes, they were putting glasses sideways with heavier dishes on top, the works. I ended up largely packing myself.) Unloading: 7/10. (Several boxes were marked "top only," but they put in the boxes any which way so the labels weren't visible, and started stacking some boxes on "top only" ones. However, once I mentioned it, they did follow my instructions from then on. I think they were just inexperienced.) Ease of scheduling/availability: 10/10. (They were available same day.) I will say, this was an urgent job, so I knew to have lower expectations. But it's going too far for the company to send out packers with zero training for the job.

SUPER COMPANY. I have used movers before but WALK'S MOVING &…read moreSTORAGE (Altoona a, PA) was the BEST. Other movers were good, but this company was the best. They arrived precisely on time--8 AM. They arrived at the correct location and were ready--doors open, ramp in place, etc.--to started immediately. They knew EXACTLY how to prepare a 6' grand for proper moving--and they moved it without a problem (and no damage whatsoever). They then loaded the furniture and boxes with the same care and efficiency. At the destination they followed the item markings (Kitchen, Bedroom 3, TV room, etc.) and everything was placed where I wanted it to be. Each member of the crew was pleasant, professional in appearance, and professional in their use of language. The final price was EXACTLY what had been quoted to me long before the move. An EXCELLENT experience with WALK'S MOVING AND STORAGE, Altoona, PA. In addition, their truck was new and the truck's interior looked as if the company cared.

I'd stay away! Owner was unprofessional and added $4000 in charges…read more The business owner, Gary, does not communicate effectively and took no responsibility for his mistakes. The interstate move for our parents was an awful experience that could have been avoided. Gary did not take into account emails sent well in advance of moving day and did not communicate to clear up any misunderstandings. My parents ended up paying Gary over $4000 more than quoted and the move required an unplanned separate trip on a different day, due to him sending too small a truck. This caused a domino effect of problems for my parents to figure out at the very last minute. Gary's explanation was that my dad was "confused." However my dad's emails explained all very clearly; Gary was the one confused due to his lack of attention. Then it took TEN days for the 2nd delivery of their things. Instead of being apologetic, acknowledging his mistakes which we would've respected, Gary blamed all on the customer, literally claiming nothing was his fault. I'd definitely stay away from this company and go with someone more highly rated.
