Everyone was wearing masks and very cautious regarding COVID. We moved a two bedroom apartment and our family was really pleased with the move. All we had to do it pack our boxes and clothes and the movers took care of EVERYTHING else. We have all Ikea white furniture and everything arrived in a great condition, furniture was packaged really well. I am 2 years late in giving this wonderful company a review. They are the absolute BEST movers ever. My late husband and I moved a lot (almost 20X ) and had every mover out there. This was the FIRST experience with a local mover and the first time not one piece of my furniture was damaged. The movers were so so careful with every piece of furniture. I expect to move again next year and have already called them to let them know they'll be moving me. I cannot recommend them enough. Also, the day before my move, 2 years ago, I got covid. I called Mr. Kurti and as it turned out he had it also. Anyway, he was wonderful about it and we had to postpone my move a week. But the best part was how he and his wife cared for me! yes I mean cared for me. I have no family in State College and friends lived in Bellefonte, plus with planning to move at that time I had absolutely NO food in the house. His wife unexpectedly brought me bags of food and food that I could eat while sick. She certainly knew what a sick person needed. I was amazed that she would do that and was so blessed by her kindness. They were both so gracious towards me. And THAT is what Kurtious movers is all about, caring and kindness. Moving is very stressful and the four competent cheerful people in the crew really made a difference- they even went out of their way to help an elderly neighbor who wanted a heavy piece of furniture from us - Mr. Kurti, the owner, walked through the house at least twice before moving day. I used Kurtious moving for packing my things. I had a few questions to ask via email and they were not promptly responded to nor seemed to be getting what I was asking for. I specifically said (3 times) the box sizes need to be either medium or large since I had to follow certain shipping regulations. I thought we had agreement on this as the person I communicated said "yes, will do". On the day of the move, however, they brought medium boxes and EXTRA LARGE box. Now I'm left with figuring out how to undo the packing of that box to large ones. Of course, I asked that they send someone back to redo it but "no, can't help" was the answer I got. short version: owner is rude and employees do not wear masks in the midst of a pandemic. From the beginning the owner was rude and seemed rushed on the phone. Did not come to look at my place to give a proper quote. The day of the move the two young men showed up without masks and when I asked them what their plans were regarding masks they told me that the CDC said that they don't have to wear them and that they were at risk when they wore them because of CO2 build up. These are not true statements, which I told them. The owner then called us and said that they would not be wearing masks and that they could leave our things on the sidewalk/porch if we were uncomfortable with that. I don't want to blame the young men, to be honest, I worry that the owner is lying to them. The afternoon included a different set of movers and in both instances one mover at least attempted to wear a mask when bringing items into our new home. I was prepared to be patient with some lack of mask wearing given that it's summer and moving is difficult work. I did not expect total negligence and denial. read more

So I was moving to State College from hours away and had booked these movers in advance for my final destination. I had specifically confirmed that basic assembly of my bed and mirror dresser would be included in the move. The owner reassured me it would certainly be taken care day of. I was ahead of schedule by an hour and notified the owner that I was available earlier than our scheduled time in case the movers were ready ahead of time. NO response from the owner but 2 movers came at 1pm anyways. So that was great and accommodating of the company! However, once everything was loaded within an hour, I was waiting for them to start assembling the bed but they didn't have any tools! When I asked if they can grab them from their office, they said the only tools they have are in a van that is going Los Angeles! HOW DOES A MOVING COMPANY NOT HAVE ANY BASIC TOOLS?! ARE YOU SERIOUS? It took a a few tries to get the owner on the phone to discuss this, which ultimately resulted in the owner threatening me that his guys would remove everything they just loaded into my house because I requested for the company to fix this issue before I made full payment for a job that was not completed as promised! He even blamed me for his mistake stating that because I had moved the time up an hour, he had to switch the crews around. Um, if I had known that, then I would've kept the original time to ensure the crew would have tools. Also I wasn't demanding the time to be moved up! It was just courtesy to let them know I'm ready whenever they are in case they get done earlier with prior obligations. HOW CAN YOU BLAME A CUSTOMER FOR YOUR ERROR?! The owner made excuses stating that he cannot call his other employee who are in the middle of driving to another job because it is a risk to their safety. He said that he could only text them and once he hears back, then he will get back to me in an hour or so but payment needs to be made now. He did offer to give a discount but I stated that if I don't have a working bed, the discount doesn't solve my problem. The argument finally resulted in the original two movers going to a local store and buying some basic tools to assemble the bed only, which unfortunately is STILL rocking and now has to be tightened with a power drill as it originally should've been. So now, I will go out and purchase a drill and ultimately do it myself. Oh, and the owner took the discount away after all this! Although, the actual 2 movers themselves were great, the owner is difficult and rude to deal with and will say whatever it takes to get you in the door. We have some very heavy, solid wood, large pieces and they were extremely conscientious and careful with every piece. They were personable, polite, and all around great guys! Absolutely loved my experience with Kurtious. I was recommended to use them by a family friend who is a Remax agent in the State College area, and now I understand why! The two guys who showed up to help me move were so friendly, prompt, and thorough. They came prepared with everything they needed to wrap and protect my belongings and seemed to have a really good strategy for how to load the truck. They were finished loading within 2 hours of arriving and even did me a special favor by stopping at my temporary home to drop off a dresser before taking and unloading the rest to my storage unit. Nothing but great things to say about Kurtious Moving! Enea was very quick to respond to our requests, and gave us a fair and reasonable quote. His movers showed up on time, and were very conscientious, efficient and polite. Our move was from State College to Ohio, and we had lots of fragile pieces. When they arrived the next day to unload, not one thing was damaged or broken. Plus they placed all the furniture where we wanted it, and even put together the bed. So glad we went with Kurtious over one of the larger, more commercial moving companies. We wouldn't have gotten the kind of personal attention that they provided. I contacted Kurtious after reading the reviews on Yelp. Originally they were not available on the date that I needed. Fortunately for me, the other person cancelled and they were able to assist me. I had two awesome guys that showed up ready to go. They were so very careful with everything and so professional. They were very friendly as well. One of the two definitely had more experience and was training the second man. I could not have been any more thrilled with these 2 hardworking men. Completed the job in about 3 hours including disassembling and reassembling my daughter's bed frame. They used moving materials to protect everything. Had this company move me from my 2 bedroom home into another 3 bedroom home. 3 guys showed up and completed the job in about 4 hours. The workers seemed very professional and showed up on time with all the tools necessary (I explained to the company owner I had 2 beds and a desk that would need disassembled). They took great care of my belongings. The owner was great as well, he was able to schedule me with only a few days notice. Overall I'm very happy and glad I didn't have to do it myself. When you hire movers you want reliability, honesty and fairness. By far this was the best communication i had with any mover. The crew that showed up was careful and professional. Not a great experience with this company. The did work consistently and fast, but carelessly. They don't seem to train their crews in basic loading. Had to sign a release freeing them from any responsibility for damages. Then, they loaded my house contents into a trailer for cross-country shipment. They ignored the sliding partition spacers that were specifically built into the trailer to stabilize the load and prevent things from shifting in transit. They put lightweight, fragile items down low and stacked boxes of books up high on top of them. The result was a lot of damage with many things destroyed. Also, not much care was given to contact points between furniture items, meaning that things like our dining room table and other nice furniture was gouged and chipped. At least $5000 or more in total damage if we got it repaired/replaced. They also left several things that I'd pointed out needed moving (e.g. and extension ladder and a large, wall-mounted mirror) unloaded and they got left behind when the trailer left (another $300 worth of loss).
