This was the FIRST experience with a local mover and the first time not one piece of my furniture was damaged. The movers were so so careful with every piece of furniture. I expect to move again next year and have already called them to let them know they'll be moving me. I cannot recommend them enough. Also, the day before my move, 2 years ago, I got covid. I called Mr. Kurti and as it turned out he had it also. Anyway, he was wonderful about it and we had to postpone my move a week. But the best part was how he and his wife cared for me! yes I mean cared for me. I have no family in State College and friends lived in Bellefonte, plus with planning to move at that time I had absolutely NO food in the house. His wife unexpectedly brought me bags of food and food that I could eat while sick. She certainly knew what a sick person needed. I was amazed that she would do that and was so blessed by her kindness. They were both so gracious towards me. And THAT is what Kurtious movers is all about, caring and kindness. All we had to do it pack our boxes and clothes and the movers took care of EVERYTHING else. We have all Ikea white furniture and everything arrived in a great condition, furniture was packaged really well. De-assembling and loading took 2 hours and assembling and unloading took another 2 hours. I can confidently recommend them to families and students who need movers in State College.

The two young men, who are volunteer firefighters, getting paid about $42 each for 2 hours. Since we had lots of boxes packed, most were donations from downsizing to move. I was very specific that they were to be given to a charity. My favorite charity may have been closed but there is at least one more on the way. I was told no one would take the donations so they don't know what happened to all the nice stuff. I offered them anything they might have wanted but they said no but in order to do this, we HAVE TO RENT A U-HAUL! i GAVE THE YOUNG MEN $300 IN CASH AND THEN THE OWNER, CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $467 MORE DOLLARS FOR THE RENTAL U-HAUL! He does not have a truck for moving, but simply for his tools. Do NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH HIM BY PHONE. MAKE HIM GIVE YOU EVERYTHING IN WRITING - IT IS THE ONLY WAS I WAS REFUNDED THE $467 ON MY CREDIT CARD. SAD!

I moved from Boalsburg, PA to Pensacola, FL, and this move ranks as the best move I've ever experienced. From the start Tom and his wife were ABSOLUTELY professional as they walked my property, gauging how much stuff I had and estimating the move cost. By the time they left, I felt completely at ease with the move and cautiously excited that, for once, I'd move with no issues. They weren't the least expensive company I interviewed, but that professionalism and poise was worth the additional cost. Moving day started in force, and Tom and his wife were both assisting their team with the packing. Speaking with every member of their team, I was impressed how every one of them enjoyed working for the company. By the time the pack out was complete, I honestly felt I had close friends helping me move versus hiring a faceless moving company. Everything was packed and loaded with exceptional care and dedication -including a $2000 hand-blown crystal glasses and goblets from Egypt. As with any small company, there are going to be problems to overcome, and this move was no exception. About a day before delivery, Tom called me personally and stated that the truck carrying the majority of my things had engine problems but was being repaired about 6 hours away. Tom offered 2 options for me: 1, they could rent a truck and transfer my things from one truck to the other. 2, Tom and his wife would personally deliver what was in the 2nd (smaller) truck, and they would deliver the remainder a few days later. I chose the 2nd. While I (obviously) wanted all my things, but the thought of doing a full shift from 1 truck to another wasn't appealing to me. Also, this additional cost (in addition to the engine repairs, etc) would cost Tom and his company. The company's bottom line may not have been my concern, but that professionalism and relationship helped me make the decision. These are good people who were willing to work with me. I was more than happy to do the same. When everything arrived, Tom hired local people to assist he and his wife in offloading my 4 tons of things. Just like at pack out, Tom's crew wore booties and put down paper mats to limit dirt and scraping the wooden floor. They set up my bedroom, living room, and dining room. Best part was that NOTHING was missing, damaged, or even smudged! Tom and his team worked hard to do it right the first time, and they succeeded. If I ever move back to Pennsylvania (or even the surrounding states), Tom will be my first call.

But if you just need boxes loaded and unloaded, and you don't mind supervising them, they were courteous, willing to follow instructions, and available fast. Politeness/courtesy: 10/10. Loading the truck: 9/10. Packing: 1/10, terrible. (Company sent completely untrained packers, they'd never packed before. They were trying, but didn't even know to put paper fill on the bottom or top of boxes, they were putting glasses sideways with heavier dishes on top, the works. I ended up largely packing myself.) Unloading: 7/10. (Several boxes were marked "top only," but they put in the boxes any which way so the labels weren't visible, and started stacking some boxes on "top only" ones. However, once I mentioned it, they did follow my instructions from then on. I think they were just inexperienced.) Ease of scheduling/availability: 10/10. (They were available same day.) It is common sense to pack food and home supplies separately to avoid any spillage but after receiving the box, I understood that the packers lacked it. Needless to say a lot of my food bought from my own country had to be thrown in the garbage. 4. Due to improper packing, my boxes were held by the USPS and repacked by them which caused some items to go missing from their center. 5. I had clearly mentioned that everything either goes in boxes or suitcases. It can be verified that a lot of my clothes were just moved into a "black cloth bag". On calling to rectify this mistake I was addressed with an arrogant tone without an apology, although it was rectified that night as per their convenience. 6. I wonder how this one happened - My daughter's boots come in two different boxes which again were delivered to me on two different days. 7. I guess this is the last one yet most important, my glassware reached me all in small pieces since they packed GLASSWARE in PAPER!!!! $125 is not a small amount for packing materials. One star for being timely (despite getting out of my apartment twice to deal with 'other work'). NEVER EVER EVER HIRE THEM!
