Beware - once the sale has been made, customer service is nonexistent. Last year I purchased 3 large storm shutters with electronic remotes from Alton Bay Blinds for my oceanfront home. When they were installed, Martin Kressa, the company owner declined to leave any written information or manuals on the product and said just to call him if I should ever need help or repair. This year when one of them malfunctioned, I tried several times to call the company to schedule a repair, left 3-4 voice mail messages and never received a call back. I finally got through to the office assistant who told me that they had moved offices and had not been able to get their phone messages due to a problem with Comcast. I explained the problem, and after conferring with Martin, she scheduled the repair with my partner for two weeks out. I called back and asked if they could come sooner since it had already been several weeks at this point and we could not raise the shutter more than 2/3. She gave me Martin's cell phone and asked me to speak to him. When I called him, he was insistent that he could not come sooner and disputed my claim that it had been several weeks since the shutter malfunctioned. When I told him that I was unhappy with his customer service he became irate, yelling and telling me that he provided great customer service and there was no way that my shutter could have been in need of repair so long. He said that if I persisted in these falsehoods that he would hang up on me! Ultimately, he did. And did not show up for the scheduled repair. So think twice or three times before giving Alton Bay Blinds your business and your money. read more
