I could not be more pleased with my Hunter Douglas blinds and the service I received from Blind Gallery in Stratham.

The first thing we probably should have noticed is that she never took any notes. We had to repeat ourselves over the course of several meetings. Perhaps we should have pulled out then, but we had hopes things would work out better. Things did not get better..... Once we started things only got worse, the timeline slipped by months and we found that we could get the exact same pieces that were specified by the designer for thousands less by doing a simple google search. These were not knockoffs, they were the exact same items. We decided to buy the items ourselves for a savings of well over $15,000.00 Before we go on I think it is important to clarify a few items. The designer and owner of The Look was very clear that her design services were a separate cost from her retail store and that if we did not want to buy from her retail store it would not affect the other services. She said that the retail store was competitive, she quoted "We also search the web to price match" Unfortunately that is not what happened, she was unwilling to match the full retail prices we were finding on the internet. So we decided to save ourselves thousands of dollars (and get the credit card miles) by buying ourselves. Surprisingly (or maybe not so) the designer became less interested in our project after that. She insisted that we had to manage all of the contractors by ourselves and didn't take any ownership of the errors that she made early in the process. For example, an entire floor of our house was neglected in her painting quote, a floor that we were extremely clear would need to be painted, but somehow she missed. To reiterate - I understand if a designer gets paid by taking a percentage of the retail items and that is why they would have higher prices. But the owner of The Look was very clear that that was not her practice. I caution anyone from buying directly from this establishment, A short google search could save you thousands. And even other designers in less than a 50 mile radius had the exact same pieces for less. Also, we wanted a specific wallpaper for one of our rooms, that she said had been discontinued. we were disappointed until we looked online and found that the wallpaper was available and The Look just could not locate it. We did buy several items from her retail store, and we were very disappointed by the service. I imagine that we were put at the "back of the line" after she lost interest in our project, but we paid over $7,000 for a bed and two hanging pendant lights. Our check for payment was delivered to The Look on June 30th. The bed was installed on September 21st, even with 2 months to make the bed that is a little long. But the real kicker is the two hanging lights. They were also paid for on June 30th, after 4 months on October 30th we finally cried "uncle" and just cancelled the order. There was still no delivery date and the story we heard is that they were back-ordered several times. Several times? How does that happen? Throughout these four months of waiting we had to always reach our to her for updates, she never emailed us with updates. She basically disappeared right after we sent her the check. After we cancelled the order she emailed us to say that she would send a check right out but "It takes a few days to get out". We took her at her word, until two more weeks passed and we still had not received any check. So, we had to drive to her office to manually pick up the check (on the 20th of November). Needless to say, working with The Look was quite the painful endeavor. Regarding the design services. She did produce good concepts. Except when she tried to convince us to put our hot tub on the front lawn - that was weird - I am sure our neighbors would have loved that! But I would warn everyone to get everything documented via email so that you can be clear on what is and is not included in your project. And you can refer back to the quotes when the bill comes. Also, double check your invoices - I was double billed for a $500 item that I had to catch.

There was an employee who looked over at me in disgust and seemed quite appalled that one of the (thousands of) glass ornaments was broken by a customer. I apologized and helped clean it up, meanwhile the employee (dark, short hair) never said a word to me. She carried the ornament over to the counter. I made my way over to the counter and the broken ornament was sitting there. It was obvious there was a discussion about it. I purchased 2 of the ornaments I had been looking at before that one broke and noticed I was charged half price for the broken ornament. When I asked why, the clerk, who I believe was a manager, said that it was store policy. However, nowhere in the store did I see that noted. There was no signage that made me aware I would be charged if I broke anything. I was really upset about this. It was clearly not intentional that the ornament fell to the floor and broke. You would have thought I committed a crime by the way the employee looked at me and the way the manager did not seem to care that I was upset. I had intended to come back the next day to get my Christmas tree and a wreath, but decided to give the former Rolling Green, Gardener's Supply, my business. So, for charging me the $5.50 and treating me so poorly, Churchill's lost out on a larger sale. And Gardener's Supply valued my business which is more than I can say for Churchill's.

Each time my husband needed suggestions on gifts - I would remind him of "my favorite store" and he would head downtown to pick something out. One Christmas he decided to get me a gift card and put in my stocking. The gift card was enclosed in a sleeve that the store provided and had written inside "$100.00." It wasn't until about 10 months later I had remembered I had this and set off to pick something out. I decided on a beautiful Lazy Susan with "Exeter" embossed on it and couldn't wait to put it in the middle of my dining room table. As I went to check out - I handed Jeff my gift card which he swiped - I have no idea how their system works but after a couple of tries he says to me "well this is uncomfortable" to which I look at him confused as to "what" is uncomfortable? He tells me the card is not registering and that the gift cards at Christmas had been displayed at the register and would have been easily available for someone to "take"...It takes me a moment before I realize he actually just implied that it was probably "taken" (his "nice" way of saying stolen?)..and not "purchased" - I tell him my husband gave it to me as a gift, as he has purchased many other gifts there for me and wanted me to pick something out myself...I also tell him that I am sure my husband (a man of character, integrity, hard working, educated, father to 4) would not have stolen a gift card and that he most likely paid for it with his AMEX as he uses it for everything...things are a bit uncomfortable at this point and there are others in the store...he wraps my purchase up for me to take and asks me for my phone number in case the owner "has any questions" - At his point I'm ready to throw my bag at him, but decide I will not allow his passive aggressive accusation to keep me from having my purchase - bought and paid for with a gift card my husband had PURCHASED. A week later I receive a voicemail from him asking if I could find and give them a copy of the AMEX bill that my husband may have used - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? At his point I am furious - and would have just ignored it all together but could not give this man the right to think this and why he never considered that fact that maybe the card was not activated correctly by whoever sold it to my husband...so I went on a hunt and had AMEX look back and send to us the bills from that Christmas .. and guess what??? A charge in the amount of $100.00 at In-Home in Exeter NH three days before Christmas - I will NEVER step foot in that place again - who treats their customers like that???
