I tend to have a high pain tolerance and my go-to method of hair removal was brazilian wax and tweezing for underarms. The laser they use here apparently is one of the newest tech out. It doesn't hurt at all. Sara did a great job on constantly asking if I was doing okay and adjusting the laser intensity accordingly to my tolerance. Even when I was on my monthly cycle, Sara did a great job making me feel comfortable and working efficiently. (Just make sure you wear a tampon and take a shower before your appointment) The staff here does an amazing job at picking up their phones. They use online booking system to track appointments, sending forms you need to fill out before each session and processing payment. If you need to reschedule or want to come in earlier, they do a great job about being flexible and fitting you in. For underarms + brazilian laser hair removal, it always takes about 15-20min. He is a very well-rounded doctor. I have no problem trusting my skin to him. Ha, ha. His wife is also a dermatologist and they have two other offices you can visit if you are not in the Olmos Park area. I can walk to this office, which is pretty cool. The NP was personable but there was minimal discussion of my concerns at the outset. She immediately began laser treatment on my upper left cheek, then asked if that was my major concern. I pointed to the right side of my mouth, and asked how long it would take to heal, to which she said a couple of days, but I could put makeup on the spots. She then did some spots on my chest, which weren't what I came for, and the angiomas. I was never given a mirror to see or guide treatment. When I got to my car I was horrified to find deep purple spots across my left cheek including a mole that had been lasered. The veins near my mouth had been ignored. It is now a week later and the purple is just beginning to fade, though there is still no way I can cover it with makeup. Before I moved to SA, my derm would just zot the base of facial spider veins with an electric needle and they would disappear With no discoloration or scarring. Why use overkill treatment that looks horrible for days? Needless to say, I am looking for a new derm practice.
