The initial exam was extremely brief, with no clear explanation, no X-rays shown, and no introductions -- we didn't know who was the dentist or assistant. During the deep cleaning, a hygienist/assistant administered anesthesia and did the entire procedure without the dentist present or supervising. The dentist only appeared afterward, did not introduce herself, and gave no post-procedure guidance. I had to ask basic questions about care and eating afterward. Later, we were told additional fillings were required, which were never mentioned during the visit. Billing seemed excessive. When we raised concerns, the dentist adamantly insisted everything was done correctly, dismissed our questions, and offered no apology or acknowledgment. The receptionist was also unprofessional and dismissive when asked about billing. The clinic later refused to continue care rather than address the issues. Overall, this experience demonstrated arrogance, lack of transparency, and disregard for patient communication and rights.

Long story short, he met us at the the office and took care of my son quickly. He had wonderful bedside manner and my son is doing great! Loved the service and they got a customer for life!

This isn't a criticism of them personally, but rather the system they are working in. It seems like they are under tremendous pressure and being forced to move way too fast, so as a result, the quality of the work has become terrible. Three members of my family recently started Invisalign here, and the application of the brackets was a disaster. They were put on so haphazardly that they look like a toddler did them--they stick out so far that they look bizarre and are incredibly sharp. As an adult who works in a business setting, I am actually embarrassed to take my trays out for dinner because the hardware on my teeth looks so ridiculous. Both of my children were in tears the night they were applied because the brackets were sticking so far into their aligners and tearing up their gums. We had a great experience with an independent orthodontist in another state, so we know this isn't how Invisalign is supposed to feel or look. Furthermore, at our last appointment, after waiting 25 minutes past our time, they gave my son someone else's Invisalign. They didn't realize the mistake until they called me hours later asking me to bring them back because the actual patient was there waiting for them. I saw his full name and information on the box. It's clear this office is part of a private equity-backed group (Lightwave Dental) that cares more about volume and speed than quality care. Alpine/Lightwave - Treat your providers and staff better so they can take care of their patients. These are obviously good people who are doing their best in a system where the bottom line is pushing them into a terrible experience for everyone.

Dr. McNutt's staff was very kind and thorough. However, with the dentist himself it was different…read more His office talks a lot about a personal approach, but his approach to braces seemed pretty much standard and cookie-cutter. And while Dr. McNutt upfront offers a lot of fancy, digital software and tools, his actual technique for braces seemed surprisingly not much different than what was being done 20 years ago. Just to be clear, braces have a lot of purposes, some health-related, but most of it has to do with a person's "look." That's why your insurance company usually won't pay for most of it. So you can imagine that's why a dentist (like Dr. McNutt) might be very rigid in his approach to what he believes should be your ideal "look" or standard. When we spoke with Dr. McNutt about our child's services, he seemed to not have much time to talk about how we wanted to approach our child's individual care, and at one point, seemed to become very impatient- almost childish- in tone with us. Toward the end of a meeting, he essentially praised our daughter for being seen and not heard, which should be a red flag for anyone taking a child in for services. Do your own homework, but compared with equally (if not more experienced) dentists, Dr. McNutt was much more expensive. They're YOUR teeth and YOUR finished look (or your child's), so you should have some input in the approach to care, and shouldn't feel talked-down to or bullied for having an opinion about that. I would highly recommend shopping around before settling on this practice.
