West Side Electric - Scorched circuits

Update: The owner of the business reached out and came to my house to look at the damage. I'm…read morestill being charged $350 for an inspection. My house suffered a major water catastrophe, and all of my house surged damaging almost all of my electrical equipment. Having had contractors parading through, I was told by all of the contractors, and the insurance adjuster, that the panel and most of the light fixtures and outlets would need to be replaced. The electrician from Westside said ALL of the electrical issues were "a coincidence", and no repairs were necessary. He turned on all of the breakers, including ones that didn't stay turned on or were very difficult to click on. The panel has flames arching out of it, and the circuits crackle and spark. I was issued a $500 bill for this "service", in edict the electrician replaced nothing, only turned on circuits that tripped immediately after he left, some tripped before he left. Westside electric refused to do any actual repairs, and after this guy said it was all fine, I don't trust them to do the work. I've used Westside electric for a lot of projects in the past, but this experience was disastrous. I'll never call them again. In the photos you can see the melted plastic, and scorch marks.

I appreciated that he put covers over his shoes when he came inside. When I was booking the appointment, West Side Electric told me about the coupon program for using union employees ($300 credit once a year) that covered the cost of the short visit. Would use West Side Electric again in the future.

We had frustrations from the beginning…read morewith poor planning and lack of knowledge about the spec'd fixtures and electrical equipment. There was continued staff turnover at ProTech with little oversight or on-site management which resulted in many errors. As problems and questions arose, we were repeatedly asked to solve them for ProTech - even basic questions about fixture install that we're spec'd at the beginning of the project. We spent countless hours researching and resolving issues for ProTech to try and keep things moving forward. Issues continued throughout the project and included lighting configuration mistakes, missed circuits and inconsistent wiring through the house as it was installed by different crews. It was so difficult to get things done, we eventually gave up and removed some items to simplify scope given the lack of knowledge. Quality issues such as damaged wiring and missing circuits were only discovered after the walls were closed making troubleshooting and repair very expensive. ProTech abandoned the project after billing us 80% which resulted in us spending tens of thousands more than our original contract with another contractor to fix ProTech's mistakes and finish the project. In my opinion, with so many quality electricians in the area, I wouldn't risk hiring ProTech for anything other than the most basic tasks.

They were prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and very professional. I would absolutely recommend them but, would just warn you there is likely a wait.
