The fact that she moved here from Vietnam and started this business by herself and keeps it going while raising kids and taking care of her family is amazing. She deserves your business! That said, I think it's important to recognize that she does not run a business like white, western businesses are typically run. I think understanding and graciousness around that is key. Her storefront may seem "disorganized", and she may seem "unprofessional" to some, but it's crucial to recognize that an assessment like that is incorrect and misguided. She has different cultural values and norms than many of her customers. So I have found it helpful to call before I come, because even though she has store hours, sometimes things come up and she isn't there. I also call a day before I plan to pick up the item, because she often takes items home to continue working on them and be with her family. That way, she can bring the item back to the storefront by the time I pick it up. When I call, I also say my name and what item I brought in. She's told me she often remembers phone numbers better than names, so some descriptors are helpful to remind her which of the many customers I am. I hope this helps curb some of the frustration I've read in reviews. Kim is amazing.

I could have made her fix the dress, but with the 0% of competence and care she put into my dress, I decided to collect my loss and never let her touch it again. She also returned it extremely wrinkled. Imagine over paying for your dress to be ruined. Now, I am warning everyone NOT to go to this woman. She is located in Milwaukie in an unassuming little Airstream style trailer. It is low key and easy to miss, but do not let that fool you. Jennifer is incredibly talented and very reasonably priced. This is a minority owned, woman owned business, and she takes Venmo, which makes things easy. She always asks about your timeline and is honest about turnaround. She is not rush service fast, but she is reliable and communicative. I never bring her anything last minute, and she always delivers quality work. I have tried other alteration spots in both Vancouver and Portland. The prices were shockingly high for very basic alterations, and the workmanship did not compare. After paying nearly fifty dollars elsewhere for simple alterations, I decided I would rather work Jennifer into my schedule than settle for less. I am particular about fit. I am fun-sized, so most of my clothes need adjustments. Jennifer consistently gets it right. The quality is excellent, the pricing is better than fair, and she is genuinely kind.
