I drove 2 hours (round trip) to Custom Fit Alterations to get the straps and the back of my dress lengthened. The shop was very cozy and Michelle is so sweet. I was worried she wouldn't be able to make the back wider to fit above my ribs (the other place said it was impossible) but she figured out a way to add ribbon and I LOVE it. It only took her 15 mins to complete my dress so I didn't have to drive back n forth. I was very shocked with how affordable the price came out to be and would 100% recommend her over and over again. Michelle and her assistant Emily were a pleasure to work with in customizing my wedding dress. I bought my dress from Brides for a Cause so it was very big on me (size 10, I am a size 4). I took it to Michelle around April 2021 and she was done fixing it by June 2021! Michelle knew instantly what she had to do to make the dress fit and honestly, I think she made the dress look even better because she added more buttons to the back and fabric to make the top be more modest. She even pressed my dress and veil TWICE because I wore it for my bridal photos and needed it to be re-pressed. I also appreciate her for letting me store my dress at her shop for a few weeks because I didn't have a place at home to store the dress out of its garment bag. Also, pricing was SUPER AFFORDABLE! Michelle did so much to my dress and adding a 3 point bustle and the price was around $300. Overall, I am so glad I went to Michelle and will go to her for my future alterations. read more

This review is a few years late but whenever I see someone recommend this place, I cringe. I got my wedding dress altered here. When I came in for the initial fitting she said "do you plan on gaining weight before the wedding?" Who says that?? When I came back when it was "done" she made it so much tighter than originally measured to where I couldn't breath. Then again she said something about gaining weight. Which was not true, at the time I was actually losing weight and working really hard on that. For some unknown reason I let her fix it. I come back when it's done and it isn't fit the way the dress was originally supposed to fit. She made it more of a mermaid fit when it wasn't supposed to be. On top of that, the button was missing. She is rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend. read more

I had two pairs of jeans hemmed here. One pair was hemmed to the correct length, however, the hem is uneven- longer in some places, shorter in some places. The other pair of jeans was hemmed with one leg much shorter than the other, in addition to both legs being hemmed completely uneven. A relative of mine had a Bridesmaids dress hemmed here and the same thing happened; the hem is uneven- longer, shorter, longer, shorter all the way around. They also hemmed my husbands pants. Every thing fit and was very reasonable on pricing ($140 for bust taken in hem and french bustle). YES Michelle is exactly as good as her reviews. There is no hype here. I called, came right in, she did a quick measurement and told me I could pick them up the next day. I go to a place in San Diego and these alterations were far far better. In traveling it isn't always easy to find someone who'll fix something quickly and SO WELL. I was VERY put off by whoever answered her phone originally. The woman was snotty and seemed stuck up. But three other alteration shops steered me in Michelle's direction for the alterations my daughter needed done to her dress for her wedding. I had found the perfect dress, in the perfect champagne color for her coloring, but it had a chapel length train that she would trip over and badly done initial alterations to the skirt that left itchy underskirt letting exposed to bare skin. Michelle was a wonder! She quickly sized up the needed alterations and explained the necessary gathering for the train under the skirt to make the whole thing look beautiful! As an experienced hand with a sewing machine I know her prices are reasonable for the work involved in the process and her time frame was fantastic! I was truly pleased and so was my daughter. What great customer service. Took some awesome jeans in that were much too long that needed hemmed. The young blonde lady (super knowledgeable) actually showed me specifically what she thought would be the proper amount to take off, (obviously has good taste) so I was able to get a good visual for what they would look like afterward. I didn't even get any work done by Michelle, but this place still gets five stars. Why? Michelle's mom saved me! I showed up today, a week before I leave for my destination wedding needing my gown fitted. I arrived to discover Michelle is on vacation for a long weekend, which is my fault for never calling ahead. My fiancé and I went here to get my dress and his shirt to fit well for our wedding. We went on different days though. The young lady was not nice, after a couple of weeks I came to try on my dress and on side was longer than the other. They told me to go back in a few hours, that they were going to fix it. My dress came with some inserts on the bust area , but Michelle recommended to add other ones so I thought that she was going to take out the ones that came with the dress and add the other ones that seemed better, well she just added them without taking the others. Imagine that... Then my husband went to pick up his shirt just trusting them... BAD idea, the day of our weeding I noticed a side of his shirt was longer. We got married at the beach so the look was more relax and we decided that he was not going to tuck his shirt. When I got to the altar that's when I noticed. Now when people see our pictures I have proof of what a bad job they do at this place. We definitely are not going back to this shop again and maybe neither our friends. read more

I dropped off a beautiful 1940's mint condition vintage dress for a simple hem and she absolutely screwed it up. There are now 2 pea sized holes in the dress that WERE NOT there when it was dropped off, plus the hem is done so bad that you can see the hem line all around. Also, there are now multiple places where the fabric is damaged. Her skills are horrible and customer service is even worse. read more
