Where to begin? I had a mold inspection done in my home due to illness and they found mold in my closet. I was advised to have every article of clothing professionally cleaned and stored elsewhere in advance of remediation. I wanted to use my local dry cleaner and took at least five different loads of sweaters and things like gloves and scarves. A number were cashmere sweaters, in particular sweaters my now deceased mother gave me. The system they have for registering clients is problematic from the start- they use the last four digits of your cell phone number. Well, there were two clients with my last four and on several occasions they tried to give me or my husband clothing that was not ours. They actually argued with my husband on one occasion that something had to be his! (He's 6' 2" tall and NOT a size medium.) On another occasion they sent him home with two sweaters that weren't mine (cute, cotton, striped, but not the cashmere ones my mom gave me...) and when I returned them asking for my two missing sweaters had the audacity to complain that I had too many sweaters and it was easy to get it all confused! I mean, I'M PAYING THEM TO DRY CLEAN!!! Then there was the lost the headband that was part of a set with a scarf I got in Ireland. I went twice asking if they'd located the missing item and that earned me an "I know nothing" from a new employee and an unintelligible call from the owner stating she found my two missing sweaters that I had already picked up almost a week before and what was my problem now when I had spoken to her directly about the missing item several days before! Just don't. Even if you have to go to Portsmouth or Rye, you're better off. Don't use this establishment if you care about your sanity or your clothes. They simply don't care for either. read more

I tried this place on two occasions because its within walking distance from our place. The first time everything went okay I guess but I remember thinking that it was a little overpriced. The second time I went was a disaster. My shirts were returned to me in the plastic wrap. Nearly all of them had stains on them after I specifically asked to have them removed. The casher/ owner did not tell me about the stains still being there when I picked the shirts up. I had no idea until I unwrapped the shirts right before I had an important meeting. I took the very same shirts to another cleaner in town who was able to get all of the stains out without any problems or extra service. A cleaners that doesn't clean is about as useless as it gets. read more

Don't use Exeter Cleaners fo tailoring!!! I brought in a very expensive dress to have tailored and it was not done as specified. The owner took no responsibility for her work and attempted to blame me stating that I did not tell her what I wanted! I should have know when she did not measure or pin the dress. Instead she pinched it with her fingers and said she would remember how much, stating that she does this all of the time...she knows how much. Apparently not. Hopefully I can have the dress repaired at a proper tailor. Will never use their services again! read more

I used to like this place. I recently had some suits (supposedly) cleaned. In my book, "cleaned" means that my suits do not come back covered in lint, dust, etc. Instead, it looks like they just pressed the dirty clothes and stuck them back on a hanger. I'm really angry because I counted on having one of these suits for an upcoming interview. Now I'll be up late before an early morning flight trying to Dryel and steam these suits so that they are *CLEAN* and presentable. Will be disputing this with my credit card company as soon as I get back. I absolutely refuse to pay for services that were not rendered. read more

Moved to Epping 2yrs ago and used this cleaner since then. Nice people, prices fair and they do have clothes ready when promised. Not the place to go if you need something right away, usually takes some time to get it back. Have not had any alterations or sewing done so cannot comment on that aspect. read more

WARNING - ! I will never go back to Exeter Cleaners again, because I had problems with alterations to a suit in Oct '11. The pants split that were altered in the seat and they would not stand behind her work. I had worn the suit twice to a funeral in October '11 and a NH state function last week. The owner said because I had the work done a year ago they would not stand behind it and the owner laughed at me said I must be kidding. Very insulting and zero customer service skills. Bottom line is that when I had to get the items repaired (emergency repair) by a tailor in Concord who has been in business since 1949 he was not impressed with the quality of their work as well. read more

will never go back..ever! hemmed a very expensive cashmere dress and it cam out totally crooked and with a hem so thick i could not believe it..never cut at all, just folded over in a 5" thick hem and sewn! dry cleaning may be okay but alterations are horrid! and expensive..ruined my dress! read more
