I very rarely go to the mall, but when I do one of the only clothing stores that I actually do shop at in person is Altar'd state. They have some of the best sales on fairly high-quality clothing out of all the stores in the mall, including other pop culture or fast fashion brands like H&M and forever 21. I also really like the style, it's very "early Taylor Swift." The original sale prices are actually not terrible as far as good quality clothing goes, but it's still a little too high for me to ever really buy anything that is not on sale. However, they do periodically mark items down and if it's gotten marked down enough, I've gotten clothing items for as low as $5 to $10 that were originally $80 or more. The staff are always really helpful and sweet, and the store also has other cute accessories and personal items like perfumes, hats, and shoes. Most recently I got a really cute beige linen cropped vest from them that was on sale for $6. The original price I think was about $50 or 60. I am also a Christian and i like that they are a Cristian company and support a lot of nonprofits! read more

I am extremely disappointed in Altard State. They use to have a plus size section and carry clothing for it. But now they replaced that section with active wear & no longer carry plus size in stores. I use to applaud them for having clothes for everybody type but now that is definitely not the case. I find it funny in a world that is starting to acknowledge plus size people and start being more size inclusive that they are going the opposite direction. read more

This clothing/home/accessory store is just adorable! I love the clothing, and found it interesting that most of the racks were sorted by size and not style. We did go on a big sale day, so maybe that was why? Either way, the staff was very friendly, I found the prices to be reasonable and not crazy expensive. I purchased a shirt, pants, and socks. The shirt was on sale, but I was charged full price. I went back the following day, and they adjusted it with no issue. So that was fantastic! It was a very uplifting vibe in the store, and online. This is hands down my favorite shop in San Antonio! They have the best outfits, great fit, quality and style. The girls working there are super sweet, helpful and never pushy! You know when you go to a summer country concert and you see all the girls with the flowy sundresss and cute lace tops with all the right accessories? This is probably where they got them from. You can find 20 dollar sandals to 150$ dresses here. Make sure you take your time to walk around, you can find some real gems in here. employees made me feel extremely uncomfortable and judged. no one asked if i needed help my entire time in the store and that's a common occurrence when i visit the store. the manager refused to accept a return on something i purchased less than 24 hours ago due to damage and stains when it was a brand new article of clothing. manager appeared incredibly unprofessional from her choice of words to her appearance. her outfit was not fitting or what i would expect a manager to be presented as. this store is target toward white christian girls and discriminates against anyone of color or opposing views and the employees and management carry that out through their behavior. read more

Alter'd State has never disappointed me! I love the unique clothing, jewelry, home decor and gifts they have. If I need to purchase a gift I have found I can always depend on this boutique. My last visit I went in to purchase a throw blanket for my sister. They had quite a variety to choose from. I found the softest, most beautiful blanket! Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the blankets were "buy one get one free"! What a great deal! My mother got a new blanket too! While I was there I couldn't help but notice there was a customer having trouble finding a particular item of clothing in a particular size. One of the saleswomen spent at least 20 minutes calling other locations, even outside the city, to try to find the item for her. They were so kind a patient with her. I will definitely continue to shop at Alter'd State! I know I will find what I am looking for and more! Really disappointed with my experience tonight. Several sales people not one asked if I needed help. I made my selections and proceeded to the front. 2 others in front of me and only one cashier. Several sales associates passed by and saw the line. Not one interceded. Took a long time to finally get a second register open. I got to the line and thought fashion tops included the shirts I purchased.... nope. Although the sign was right in front of a similar one I purchased. Does a consumer know all the different terms for tops? Fashion tops, shirts, blouses? I shop here a lot and this by far my worst experience. read more
