Did not have the right tools for the job or the ladders . I finally got up on my roof to see what had been done because I am quite old 71 to be exact and found that he had smashed my air vent across the top of the roof as I have a metal roof . He tried to use a standard ladder to get to the top which he could not reach so he laid it down and stood on to the edge in able to get a few inches so he could stretch on his tipping toes to reach the top which he never saw the top . I also witnessed with my own eyes and tried to put up that slid down my chimney which smashed on my roof with him on top of it . Now if you would have bought the correct ladders like a step ladder he would not have done such a poor job . Extremely unhappy with this contractor I would not use him again or recommend him . Which I have all pictures to verify this . When he was here I called the owner told all of my problem that I saw and he told me to just to let him go he knew how to do his job well that apparently was not the case

DC Chimney is the only place I'm going ever again. We had someone else come in and clean, and then…read moregave us a ridiculous quote about repairs. Got introduced to DC Chimney by a friend who came in, and immediately noticed that the prior person left our chimney filthy, with a lot of possibility to have the *wrong* type of fire coming out of there (as in, house damage). So what did Craig and his people do? First, he got in and cleaned the hell out of it. Second, he gave me advice on how to take better care of my chimney Third, he helped me understand options for my chimney (we're getting caps installed next week) Oh, and then there's price. He's cleaning it for *less* than the people who left it dirty AND he's incredibly fair and reasonable on things like caps. He's just a genuinely good dude, who does quality work, and is fair and reasonable to customers. Honestly, there are lots of people who claim to take care of chimneys, but DC is the only one I can trust to do it right AND trust not to rip me off. That should be what you want, too.

The extra charge was in addition to their $340.00 chimney cleaning fee. When I called the office to inquire about the extra charge, I was told the person I needed to talk to was not there, and the chimney tech that serviced my chimney was on vacation. I tried to find contact information for the owner of the business, but was unable to find any, which was as concerning to me as being mistakenly charged over $300, and then having my bank account subsequently overdrawn due to their error. I tried to get to the bottom of how this could have had happened, but every answer I got from the office manager left me feeling more perplexed, bewildered and mistrusting in the company's financial practices. I was ultimately refunded my $326.93 but never offered any sort of written apology or incentive that would lead me to want to keep my business with Chimney Heroes. If they had simply given me a discount on next year's cleaning, and/or an offer to reimburse me for the overdrawn account, I would have felt compensated for the error and wanted to keep my business with them. But you don't just help yourself to a client's bank account after they've trusted you with it to take only what is owed. 3 years ago I spent over $10,000 having Chimney Heroes install a wood stove, and have been a loyal customer for years. During the increasingly frustrating call with the office manager, she told me to make a suggestion as to how they could make it right. I told her that this was why I wanted to talk directly with the owner, as the office manager seemed oblivious to the concept of offering compensation or incentive to keep my business and trust after such a significant error. She clearly wanted me ask for it instead of offering, which added insult to injury. She was condescending in tone and approach, and left me feeling enraged. I am retired and on a limited income and this whole experience has breached my faith and trust in Chimney Heroes, as well as my bank account, and my patience. After 20 minutes I was livid, and she was admonishing me for saying that "this much money is a big f***ing" deal, so I informed her that I was ending the call, and that they had my contact info if they want to make this right. I informed her that I was going to write a review that reflected this experience, and although she balked at this, she continued to be obstinate. A good office manager knows what to do in a situation like this. A good office manager doesn't "handle" a customer, they work with them. That is what I want the owner to know.

After collecting $250 for the service call, we were told he had other calls to go on and could not stay for a half hour 45 minutes to see if the fire place would stay lit after he secured the glass to some latches, saying maybe it was because of a air leak. When we called to let him know the fireplace still was not staying lit. He said it was probably the valve. Never bothered coming back to investigate further. Just said they no longer make Lenox Valves. The problem was the fireplace sensors connections just needed a good cleaning. Definitely a money grab business looking to sell a new fireplace for the tune of $6,000.

A year or so ago we learned it was because the unit they sold us was WAY too large for the space, so the fires we were burning were not hot enough to keep the glass relatively free of soot. We called and told them, suggesting they might swap ours out for a similarly valued used one the correct size, but they didn't respond. A few months later our follow up email received the same silence. We ended up buying fire bricks to fill enough space in it to allow us to burn smaller, hotter fires without overheating the room. It helped, but we still have to do more glass cleaning than we should and ended up spending more money on the larger unit than we needed to. Note: I will update this review if and when they make an effort to help us out.
