May 22nd 2026 we had a home inspector come and do a detailed inspection for an unrelated circumstance and at that time we weren't aware of any issues. Once we received the official report and photos from the home inspection, it seemed familiar to me. So I pulled the chimney inspection and looked at them side by side. It was alarmingly clear that the home inspectors STRONG suggestion to obtain necessary repairs from a licensed contractor for EXACTLY what this company claimed to have already repaired months prior. Ultimately, no repairs were ever done and both inspection photos looked exactly the same which would indicate that this company allowed our chimney to remain out of code, an active safety and fire hazard and we used this trusting that it was now in working order. I provided them with the documentation and request that they refund the work they never did. It's been over 2 weeks now and I still have yet to be acknowledged which I presumed is what they'd do since the alternative would be to take accountability and at the very least apologize for the unsafe conditions they put my family as risk for and rightfully return our $5800.76 back to us. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and have been instead given lack of professionalism.

I posted another review about Josh's fantastic service for my boiler several months ago. When my…read moremini-splits stopped blowing cold air, I knew Josh would be the one to call. He fit me into his packed schedule (of course the units picked the first hot spell of the season to act up), diagnosed a refrigerant leak, and set about fixing it. If you're not familiar with mini-split systems, the difference between them and central air is that where central air cools air at the condenser unit then circulates it through your house, mini-splits circulate refrigerant, cooling the air at various "head units" throughout the house. The advantage is that mini-splits are easier and faster to retrofit into old buildings. The disadvantage is that there are many more places for a refrigerant leak to hide. Josh filled the system with UV dye and came back late in the evening to check for leaks. He found a couple of egregiously loose fittings---a sure sign of shoddy installation by the other company that had installed the system. At this point, he suspected there were probably loose fittings elsewhere. He's keenly aware of how expensive refrigerant is, and how bad it is for the environment when it leaks. With that in mind, along with the fact that the heat spell had broken, he suggested we hold off on refilling the system until he could come back and do a full system walkthrough. When he came back, he pressurized the system to its max with Nitrogen, so he could check for leaks without wasting refrigerant. It just so happened to be the hottest day of the year (so far), but that just made him more determined to get the system running for us. He worked thoroughly but quickly and got our system running better than I think it ever has. I'm profoundly grateful for his hard work and dedication. I cannot recommend him highly enough for any HVAC work you need done.

We needed the work done before the winter. The chimney needed to be rebuilt with flashing, a cap, birdcage, etc from the roof up and we also needed flashing put in. George came over and gave us a quote for half of the work we needed done, saying the rest wasn't necessary and they could do it that same week. I wasn't totally sure bc I am a new homeowner, but he claimed he'd been "doing this for 30 years and knew what he was doing" so who was I to say otherwise. The day came and they did all the work like they said. From looking at it from the ground, it looked nice. We were happy... until we tried to turn on the heat. Thinking our chimney was all good based on what George said, we were shocked when we hired an HVAC guy only for him to tell us our furnace was fine, but our chimney was full of debris and unsafe to use. He pulled out the pipe for us, so I went ahead and cleaned it out myself. The debris was over 8ft high and had broken bricks, not just soot and dust. I called and texted George to come finish the job, but he never responded. Thankfully, our heat worked after I cleaned it out, but we were nervous about the state of the chimney. Finally, the original chimney guys (from the other company) were able to come over and put in a liner, new pipes, etc. They said the job that Bill Miles Masonry did was messy. Even my former landlord said they have a bad reputation when I talked to him about it. The chimney specialists who finished the work said that we likely had carbon monoxide leaking through the chimney into the house based on how bad it was. I wish we had gone with them for the entire project because we ended up losing approximately $1200 by having Bill Miles Masonry come to not do the full amount of work we needed. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. 2 stars because they did fix the top of the chimney, at the very least.

After collecting $250 for the service call, we were told he had other calls to go on and could not stay for a half hour 45 minutes to see if the fire place would stay lit after he secured the glass to some latches, saying maybe it was because of a air leak. When we called to let him know the fireplace still was not staying lit. He said it was probably the valve. Never bothered coming back to investigate further. Just said they no longer make Lenox Valves. The problem was the fireplace sensors connections just needed a good cleaning. Definitely a money grab business looking to sell a new fireplace for the tune of $6,000.

A year or so ago we learned it was because the unit they sold us was WAY too large for the space, so the fires we were burning were not hot enough to keep the glass relatively free of soot. We called and told them, suggesting they might swap ours out for a similarly valued used one the correct size, but they didn't respond. A few months later our follow up email received the same silence. We ended up buying fire bricks to fill enough space in it to allow us to burn smaller, hotter fires without overheating the room. It helped, but we still have to do more glass cleaning than we should and ended up spending more money on the larger unit than we needed to. Note: I will update this review if and when they make an effort to help us out.
