Always a stop when we visit Jerome. The smells are free! And we always find a leather treasure of some sort. Our recent visit yielded a classic notepad holder. Handmade to last. THE best leather I've ever bought. 6 years ago I bought 3 belts and various buckles from here. Not only has the leather held up wonderfully, without any fraying, but the snap buttons to hold the buckles still are as strong as the day I bought them. Seriously, don't waste your money on commercial store belts, the veneer always rips off, it's always a disappointment. Jacob and his family really know their stuff. While visiting from Phoenix I was curious about how they make their leather goods and Jacob not only took the time to explain how they make things, he showed me! My date found a pair of ergonomically correct flip flops that could not be found in the big city and found some hard to find Lexol products that although I didn't need immediately, I bought. I appreciated them sharing their knowledge and I figure, it was a fair price and probably kept cooler than the stock in PHX!! Lol. Great job guys-thanks for your time and expertise. Love to see a family working together! Really cool and unique items here that are trendy and modern but they also have traditional items too. Really something for everyone. I've been to Jerome twice now and have stopped by this great shop both times. First of all I LOVE the smell of leather... I could just walk around and sniff all day. I haven't made a big purchase, but both times I have been here I have bought a couple of the braided leather bracelets. I think they are like $4. My daughter picked out a green one for herself, so now she is starting her own little collection as well. Can't wait to add more next time! read more

Some products are pricey but they guarantee the workmanship for life. I tend to buy for quality and longevity and some of my high-end designer bags are coming apart. I like the idea of knowing if this bag frays or comes unstitched, I will be able to get it repaired. The color assortment is amazing and they can special order a style in a specific color (and vice versa, of course) if they don't have it in stock (for an additional fee). Visiting Jerome, I stopped into this attractive leather store. I found a belt and buckle, a gift for my son. Arriving home to No. CA. I found the belt too small. I contacted Altai, explained the problem, and they were courteous, gracious and willing to accept the return by mail. They sent me the belt in the right size. That's great customer service plus a gorgeous belt and buckle. i feel confident purchasing anything the store offers. And their handmade articles are beautiful. I give them 5 stars. read more

The one star review had nothing to do with the product. The store had what I was shopping for. While visiting Jerome Az my husband went into the store to purchase a belt. We were on vacation and I wanted to purchase a belt for my husband. He never really buys for himself but he needed a new belt and I thought this was a sure bet to buy him something. We were greeted by a very unenthusiastic shop employee. A middle aged woman with blonde hair. She would not smile or look me in the eye. I told her we were looking to buy my husband a belt something special for my husband while on vacation. This woman just stared at me. When I started to ask questions about how we go about buying a belt her answers were so rude. The woman cut me off several times while my asking her a question as to how we start picking out a belt(size,width of belt) She talked down to my husband and I. I do not understand her attitude. She was not busy there was only one other couple in the shop. When my husband started to ask her about the size of the belt she cut him off and was rude. We told her we were NOT going to buy from their with her having a rude and bad attitude toward us and we walked out of the store without purchasing a belt! It was a terrible experience to what was an end of a lovely day and visit to Jerome AZ. All the other stores we visited and spent $$ in the shopkeepers were polite,friendly and helpful. I really don't know what the woman's issue was but she lost a sale from me and when I return to Jerome(and I know I will) I will NOT step foot in this leather shop! How disappointing my experience in this shop was today! read more
