You can fish, use the gym, bring your offspring to the play area or get on the canal trail and bike, walk or run.

Just down the road from Sloan Park (Cub's stadium) and across the street from Mesa Riverview shopping area, it's very well situated. For locals and people living in the area, it's definitely frequented for fishing, using the playground, playing soccer or sports, and taking a nice walk. It's a clean and well maintained park. When the weather is nice, this is a great place to take a walk at sunset, around the small lake. I've seen some really nice skies and colors from the park. People are there year round fishing and there's a big playground area with a large climbing tower & splash pad towers at the north end of the park. Spread throughout that area are picnic ramadas w/ grills that are popular on the weekend. We walk our pups around when it's cooler outside. Summer months we don't usually walk over, even though we live close by, across the street. It's just too hot, even at night. Overall, it's a great park area and I look forward to when we come back regularly for our evening walks.

On Labor Day, I had the day off from work and rather than laying by the pool, I wanted to get a…read moreworkout in. Cashman Park is a short drive from my place, so I made my way over for an afternoon walk. Upon arriving, I parked in their complimentary lot. I narrowly arrived a little bit before football practice was starting for a kid's team, and I'm lucky I did, because the parking lot was full when I left. Cashman has a walking trail around the exterior of the park that takes about 15 minutes to get through. Outside of the walking trail, there's a lot of grass for sports, basketball hoops, and a playground. There are also several benches and picnic-style seating. I was impressed with the playground, seems like it would be a lot of fun if you're a kid. The basketball court, not so impressive. Some of the hoops were either missing nets, had a metal net, and there was even one rim missing entirely. One of the garbage cans was overflowing with garbage. Seems like upkeep is a bit of a problem here. The walking route was too short for my liking and not picturesque. The nice thing is there's an opening where you can leave the park and get on a walking trail around the neighborhood. This trail is longer and offers more scenic views. Which is what I ended up doing for a portion of my walk.

this was such a cute and lovely little park. we came here to burn off some energy with the kiddo…read more they loved it, all the climbing apparatuses and the slides and swings. nothing was in disrepair. there weren't a huge number of kids or families but just enough. the cargo nets and other climbing surfaces were in great shape. I had lots of fun on the swings with the kiddo. there is a large grassy area as well as a few benches, sitting areas along the play area on the cement in the shade and several easily accessible trash cans. we were able to park along the perimeter of the park. there was no fee or permit required. I didn't see a restroom here but we were lucky enough to not need facilities at all. this was a lovely little stop.

We came here on Friday when there were very few people and we really enjoyed ourselves. If you have young kids...hot tip: Stop at the grocery store before coming here and buy a cheap loaf of bread to feed the birds. As a parent, I think that was the highlight of the visit. Feeding the birds: SO MUCH FUN! We brought a $2 loaf of bread and spent some time feeding the birds. My daughter shared with many other kids and boy, it was a joy to see them all light up and enjoy this activity. The birds will flock to you so it's a really fun activity for the kids. The playground: My daughter has not played on a playground since March when covid shut everything down here in San Diego/Carlsbad. So, after wiping down a few bars for her to climb on, she was in heaven climbing and being a kid. Maybe it's COVID fatigue or just the pure joy seen on my 5 year olds face, it was enough for me to be a bit more relaxed. I didn't have enough Clorox wipes to wipe down the entire playground...but sigh...the chances we take. She had fun going up and down that 3 story slide. The Train: For non-residents, we paid $4/each to ride the train and for a parent, I'd say it was ok. My daughter absolutely loved it though. Perhaps it was because they had the sprinklers going and we got really wet. Even though it was chilly, it made it more fun - maybe they should do that regularly. = ) It was a very short ride but a nice little 10-15 minute ride for the kiddos. I can't imagine kids over the age of 7 being thrilled about it but for my 5 year old, she loved it! During COVID, they block off every other seat/train car so you are safely distanced from others. We also brought plenty of wipes to wipe down seats and parts of the carts that we touched, like the railings etc. I did not see them do this in between rides. We didn't spend more than 2 hours here but it was a great way to spend the afternoon. We had so much fun, we returned on Saturday but there were far more people than the day before. We weren't really comfortable with the huge crowds so we just fed the birds and rode the train again. It was still tons of fun for us. At the very least, I'm sure we'll be back to feed the birds when we are back in the area.

Aside from having to wait an hour for the train to be repaired the experience was great…read more Unfortunately my grandson age 7 started to have heat stroke before the ride was fixed. We had to get him in the car and gave him water and we had left when half way back to Phoenix we got the text the train was fixed. We drove back and the ride is great. 10 min. But repair work should be done on the days the train does not run especially when you are taking about hot weather about 110 degrees daily even in the morning.
