They removed three queen palms in my backyard and ground out the roots to allow me to plant new smaller trees. I was very happy with their service, their price and with the grinding of the roots. I previously had a palm removed at a rental and that tree service only ground the roots down 6" below the surface making it impossible to replant in that location without doing a lot of chopping. Paid for a service that was not done correctly. I used them 2 years ago and had a good experience. However, this past year they were supposed to spray to inhibit fruit on my olive trees. They showed up an hour after the quoted 4 hour window and stayed less than 20 minutes. Months later, the trees started to have small green fruits. I called and he said they would come back to spray anything that was missed. This time the technicians stayed about 5-10 minutes. Months later, my trees are FULL of fruit. Our HOA president hired this company to perform "maintenance" on our trees today and tomorrow. Came home to find all the trees at one entrance to the community had been completely removed. About half a dozen of them. There was no vote about it amongst the community and was only announced as "maintenance". I hate to think about what caring for trees actually looks like to these people. read more

They have been my tree trimmer for the last three years. They have gone above and beyond to do a great job.

These guys were out trimming my neighbors trees this morning and left a HUGE mess in my yard! They piled all the palm fronds in MY front yard, so that's where the mess is. Plus all the crap in my backyard I had to clean up. I sat watching them from my home office window, so I know they saw me. Also left their cigarette butts in the gutter. When other neighbors have trees trimmed, the trimmers come over and ask for access to clean up the mess in my yard. Not these guys. Their client's yard is clean, but not mine. Average at best. They moved several things out of the way and did not return them to their places (including a slide), did a fair but not exceptional job of actually trimming (e.g. leaving the ends of large clipped branches out in plain view when they could have been "buried"), and were very bad about caring for the grounds when removing clippings (they walked through our carefully laid out plantings without trying to avoid damaging things, dragging large and small branches right over our plants). Additionally they did not clean up very well afterwards, leaving cuttings all over the place which we had to take care of ourselves. We will find someone else next time. read more

I called for a full tree removal estimate and they came out and gave me two estimates based on what I wanted done. I was extremely pleased and surprised at the price. It was such a good price (I was raised in a heavily wooded area and this type of removal would usually be very expensive). They were prompt on their arrival and took lots of care to protect my windows and my tiled walkway. The clean up was fabulous!!! My front yard was cleaner than it was before they arrived. Very disappointed with customer service provided, actually not provided. I'm a commercial property manager who has utilized this vendor with great results over the past ten years. This year the vendor choose NOT to provide us competitive bids for the service(s) requested on (5) assets, because they only have one estimator and can simply not "fit us in to its schedule". Commercial properties, big opportunities to make great money, turned down? Hire another estimator!! Returning customer, loyal, who thought its business was appreciated, apparently not. End of the day I can receive bids from numerous companies; will not be providing the opportunity to Alspaw in the future. read more

The guys from Alspaw were out from 3:30 am - 4:30 am trimming the palm trees of a shopping center that I live directly behind. When I shouted out my bedroom window "Are you serious? This is a residential area , it's 3 in the morning!" the guy yelled back at me "What do you want me to do? Call my boss?" Wow. We have used this company about five times. Every time they came something would be done wrong....sprinkler head broken, Palm leaf left hanging from tree, tree limbs left in yard, etc. but we continued to use them because they were reasonably priced and were easy to use (we would call and they would be out within a couple days without need for us to be home and would leave the bill on the door). However, this last time we called they decided we needed a new estimate. The lady was rude on the phone, it took them three days to get back to us for the estimate and I had to call them to get it, and they decided to almost double the price.....for the same tree. Dealing with their mistakes was okay before due to them being hassle-free but they are definitely not good enough of a company to be this expensive or this hard to do business with. So we will be taking our business somewhere else now. I don't suggest using this company. You will just be left irritated and disappointed. read more

If there were a zero option I would use that type of rating for this company. I work for a construction company servicing the Southern California area. I called them to set up a tree trim or tree cut down quote for one of our potential customers. When I made the appointment I was very clear and mentioned more than 2 times to communicate with me any information as far as the quote or recommended work to be done. Well, Alspaw went to the homeowners house however they did not communicate what they were doing with the the homeowner nor did they call us or email us of anything that had happened. When I expressed my concern for how our appointment had been handled, and how I had left specific instruction for appointment setter, he basically said it was my word against hers. He did not believe that I had left all my information to be contacted. I was appalled at how I was treated as a potential huge referral for this company. When I tried to reschedule this quote appointment he rude girl who answered the phone treated me horribly. I am again appalled at the way they do business with another companies wanting to give them business. This horrible company needs serous customer service training. read more
