In early February I called RV Parts Mall in need of a slide controller for my motor home. The man on the phone confirmed he had a controller; however, it was a different number and he wanted to call the manufacturer to verify that the part would work for my application; returning my call later. After a few minutes, I received his call confirming that the part had a simple number change and it was the controller for my application. I was quoted $144.00 which was completely in line with what I found from Amazon.com, before over night shipping of $50.00 would be added. I made arrangements to travel 60 miles out of my way to pick the part up the following morning. Upon my arrival, I found the part had been pulled and it was on the desk waiting for me to p/u. So far all is well, until they hand me an invoice for $449.00. I declined to purchase and told them what I was quoted the prior day and the price point from Amazon.com. I was confronted and told that the price was correct and no one said it was $144.00. I declined the purchase and left the premises. Traveling south towards Fort Myers Beach Fl., I came upon North Trail RV. I decided to check with their parts desk regarding availability and price. They had the controller and their price was $202.00 net, which was only $8.00 more than Amazon including shipping. Since they were adamant that their pricing was accurate and I was wrong, I believe this was an attempt to price gouge by RV Parts Mall, but I hope it was a simple mistake in pricing.
