My car broke down on the road, seemingly due to the alternator. Before I got my car towed there, I…read morecalled and asked how much it would be to replace the alternator. A guy named Dave looked up the price based on the make, model, and engine type and said it was coming up as $713 including labor which could change but would be somewhere around that price. I asked which towing coming they recommended and had it towed there. After it got there they did a diagnostic and said that it would be about $1500 including the tow; they had to replace the battery for the diagnostic and the alternator would be a bit more than $1000. I asked why the alternator was so much since I had talked to Dave earlier and he said it would be around $713. The guy on the phone said Dave prolly didn't realize that it was a car with a computer system--but that was a lie since Dave looked it up based on the make, model, and engine type. He then put me on hold and came back and said "the boss" says that Dave told me it would be between $700 and $1600 which was also a blatant lie. In the end they ended up replacing the alternator for a somewhat high but fairly reasonable price but the ease with which they lied about it all was infuriating and they do not seem trustworthy whatsoever

SCAMMERS. SCAMMERS. SCAMMERS. SCAMMERS This is another disreputable shop operated by typical…read moreblue-collar workers lacking education and integrity. Their prices are excessively high, and they attempted to impose unnecessary charges. They tried to bill me $300 for an oil change after they went to the back to 'fix' it. Additionally, they charged me for 7 quarts of oil when my vehicle only requires 4.2, and they added a $20 fee simply because they felt entitled to do so and another charge for "some sort" of additive that I didn't ask for they probably even didn't do the additive. They claimed it was for shop supplies, yet there was another charge for the actual supplies. I suppose they are billing me for the towels used to clean their dirty hands. Those who leave positive reviews are likely unaware of the scam and simply comply with it; they even impose a 3% fee for card payments as if it's 1999. These are the kind of people who WILL intentionally damage your vehicle just to ensure you return. I had to make two calls to check if my car was ready, as no one in the shop seemed to know its status. It could have remained there overnight if I hadn't called at the last moment. These people are criminals.

He is honest and treats his customers fairly. In a word, you can trust him. On a road trip from Texas to Wisconsin, my 2002 Suburban broke down on the interstate not far from Don's shop. County Brake towed my vehicle and resolved multiple issues stemming from a wire short (probably the result of a previous repair not quite done correctly). Don put his top mechanic on it and methodically worked through each system impacted by the short. The impacts were extensive, time consuming, and costly, but each system was tested, each solution verified with me before repair, and only performed because it was necessary to get me back on the road. I was really in a position where Don could have taken advantage of my vulnerability of being stranded, but what I experienced instead was quality work, care for my well being, flexibility, superb communication, and extra diligence to make my vehicle reliable. He even gave me a significant discount to help offset the circumstances I was in. I am grateful to have found this shop and it hit all the high notes of what I look for in a repair shop. I learned through experience County Brake is a shop run by people you can trust. They got me back on the road and safely to my destination.

I decided to roll the dice with County Brake after reading the reviews and I am goad I did. I brought in my Volvo for a brake pad change and they caught a screw in my tire which they plugged for free. Unlike many shops, they treat you like they actually want you as a customer instead of acting like you are a hassle.
