1. Sandwich, Tender, Fries Combo
Jeremiah M.

Heard about this place through another Yelper and I had to give this place a try while in town! Right off the bat, the person who was handling our order inside was quite friendly and we got our order through pretty quickly. Both my friend and I ordered the 1. Combo (Sandwich, tender, fries). I chose the Hot option for the spice, after all it is called Al's HOT chicken. The chickens itself was cooked and spiced pretty well and you can really taste the flavour coming out of the chicken. The piece of bread and fries weren't all that special though. Not as good as Raising Canes or Dave's Hot Chicken, but Al's is one of the few "Hot Chicken" places around the area and it's surely a solid spot to go to when cravings some hot chicken. 4/5

Loaded Fries

Only ever been here for takeout, never dining in, but when we've gotten take out it's been great. My favorite thing to get here is the loaded fries, the chicken is delicious and I love that you can specify how spicy you want the chicken itself. I'm super picky about gross chicken pieces and I haven't actually gotten any gross pieces at all, the chicken is always exactly what you want it to be. My husband gets the chicken tenders typically, and it's great that you can order different spicy per tender not just per meal, sometimes he wants to get different kinds and this makes it super easy. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something different than your regular fast food chicken places!

TLDR: great food, horrible service Love that there's finally a halal hot chicken sandwich spot in Washington and bonus points for being on the south end !! However minus points for the service. Decided to try it out for a second time last night - drove from federal way and luckily when we got there the drive thru line wasn't as bad as the first time we went. The wait time however was ridiculous - both times we had spent more time waiting for the food then actually driving to and from it home. This time it was about an hour and a half. The service was not the best - we had placed our order only to find out after the fact that they were out of mac and cheese as we drove up to the window to grab the food. The worker had offered a refund or a substitute for it to which my brother had asked twice if he could get the loaded fries instead but the worker got frustrated and said "anything but the mac and cheese" it took my brother three times to repeat himself asking for loaded fries for the worker to realize he was in fact asking for fries and then asked other workers "the loaded fries don't have mac and cheese right?" Maybe have the workers know what's on the menu? Anyways we got our food in one flimsy thin plastic bag packed read to rip any second. I would've asked for another bag but at this point we were just ready to go home plus we had others who were also waiting just as long for their food back home. The food did makeup for the service. We had ordered all our meals with "hot" spicy level and there was definitely a kick to it. The chicken was seasoned well with flavor and the fries weren't soggy but rather extra crispy. I recommend trying their hot honey sauce great for both adding to sliders or dipping for fries. Our sliders were packed with pickles and slaw and was filling. The loaded fries also had a good amount of seasoning and flavor to it the chicken was not dry at all. But most of all it's HALAL! it's one of the few places that has a full halal menu so I appreciate it as someone who eats halal meat. However I will wait for the hype to die down a bit more before going back to avoid the long wait times. IF you have all the time in world you should try this place out or go in during the weekdays when it isn't as busy - don't recommend going on the weekend definitely not a quick McDonald's run or anything like that.

I've been wanting to try Al's Hot Chicken since it opened but it's always been too busy. So I came here on a Saturday evening and saw both the inside and drive through weren't too bad and decided to finally try. There were around six cars ahead of me and my total wait time was thirty minutes. I ordered the chicken sandwich, chicken tender and fries combo at a level 3 spice. I love spicy food but this was slightly too spicy even for a level 3, next time I'd order a 2 or get more honey and white sauce to dip it in to offset the spice. The chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The crust stayed on the chicken and didn't fall apart. The coleslaw added onto the sandwich as well as the pickles (ordered extra) added that extra texture and flavor to it. The fries were crispy and flavorful (sprinkled with spice powder). Overall, I'll definitely be back and recommend!

This is the remains of the 2 chicken and 2 waffles. The Combo #6.

First. The chicken was small like a chicken strip or a big chicken nugget that was heavily seasoned with whatever they used that made the chicken look dark red and caked on like it was dipped in smoked paprika?? I ate it because I think I paid way too much for that so I forced myself to eat it. After a couple more bites I couldn't force myself to eat that anymore. Second. I think the waffles tasted like a cake donut. Dry. Too sweet. The service was ok. I guess they do the best they can. It's a fast food restaurant. The ambiance was meh. The kitchen needs more attention to cleanliness in my opinion. I only went there because their rival was already closed and I wanted chicken and waffles, so I took a chance. Al's ..Never Again.

I saw the ads for this on Facebook and wanted to try it for weeks. I literally had dreams about it. Payday rolled around, and I made the trip from Olympia with high expectations. I have to say it did not disappoint. We got the two chicken sandwiches meal, with cheese fries. We chose medium hot, which was a good choice. It was hot enough for the kick but not to lose any flavor. Normally, I don't like crinkle cut fries, but these were similar to the Cajun fries at 5 guys. We also got the white sauce and honey sauce for dipping. The white sauce was basically blackened ranch sauce from Popeyes. The honey sauce was an almost exact replica of chik-fil-a sauce. Service was quick and helpful. We had our food in about 5 minutes. All said it was everything I dreamed of and more I will be going back as often and as soon as possible

The chicken and waffle is incredible! Service is awful. Slow and rude. The spice is nice and it is fun to be able to have a few different levels. The "toast" that came with the tender meal was just buttered warm bread. I asked if they could toast it more and they said it have to buy a new slice. Parking is decent and it's easy to pull in and out of

If you're looking for a good Nashville style crispy chicken sandwich this is the place! The chicken sandwiches are so crispy & flavorful on the outside & juicy on the inside. Love how the slaw compliments the flavor of the spicy chicken. The seasoning they use on the fries is great, kind of reminds me of an old bay/seasoned salt cross over. I like to dip the fries in the als honey sauce, this reminds me of a chick fil a sauce/ kind of like a honey mustard bbq taste. When they first opened the line was long & slow now the service is great & the lines move fast! Love this place!

Boy. Where do I begin. I've been hesitant to try Al's because of the mixed reviews on social media. Me and my bf went and we waited in line for about 20min and had to pull off to the side to wait for our food. That's fine it's busy who cares. When we got home our order was wrong. They gave us 3 sandwiches, we ordered tenders and a sandwich and sauces which weren't in the bag. Strike 1. But it's okay let's see what it's hitting for. Disclaimer: I wasn't sure if the order was a spicy flavor or not but I originally ordered mild because I'm slightly hungover so didn't want my stomach in further shambles. I took one bite and was NOT impressed. The chicken had no flavor. The fries were dry and over cooked and lacked salt. My biggest complaint is the fact that they basically throw an abnormally large or weird shaped tender and throw it between a bun. I ended up just eating it as a tender. I had to add salt to my fries and franks to my chicken. Their social media and website pics def don't match what you're getting. They do have good deals tho and value for the meal you get. I'll give them that. I see the potential, but they need to beat that chicken breast down with a mallet before cooking it and tryna put it between two buns.

Sandwich with no coleslaw... and it's way small compared to social media pictures.
Alan L.

Laugh My Arse Off! That is the first thought that came to mind when I saw their sandwiches. Don't believe what you see you on their Instagram posts. Their sandwiches and tenders are not that big nor looks as yummy as it shows. Huge disappointment, felt like they spent so much on advertising, trying to build the hype but when you receive what they've made... a huge miss. Definitely over priced on what you're paying and what you're getting. Their sandwiches are awfully small and does not taste as appetizing. I must admit, it's not bad but it's not good at all. Just mediocre. It's especially frustrating on what they show is total opposite of what you're getting. The pricing and their "hype" to the side, their sandwiches and tender are decent. Not totally dry but it's borderline. Flavor isn't half bad, had their medium spice level and it's decently good. There's inconsistencies in their sandwiches as in some has a decent amount of coleslaw on it and the other sandwich you get like a sprinkle. On top of the disappointment, ordered online for a scheduled pick up, they didn't start making the order til I got there. What's the point of placing a scheduled pick up when it's not ready around the time? Waited an extra 20 mins. I don't blame the workers tho, I can tell they are undermanned, definitely a management issue right here. Staff there was very cool, nice and respectful. I truly appreciate their effort.

Nashville Hot Chicken in Tacoma! I have see the bad Yelp reviews but there are not a lot of options in Tacoma for Nashville hot food. This place is new and has always been SUPER BUSY since they opened. Was going to try the drive through but it wasn't moving so I went inside. Long line inside too! Took about 15 minutes to place my order and another 25 minutes to get my food. Workers are doing their best but they need better management and more efficient systems. Food finally came and it was pretty good! Chicken was super moist and spice was on target. I asked for medium heat and it was perfect. Ordered waffles to have that sweet and spice combo. Waffle looked good but was TOO SWEET. Had too much sugar (chunks of it) inside.

Eating area with a fireplace to the left of this picture.

Finally got to see what this hype was about. I didn't have to wait at all. They welcome you with old school jams from the kitchen and overall a good vibe. If I remember, I think this used to be a Wendy's. The menu is simple and they're accommodating with the sauce/heat flavors for the two sandwiches. The spicy Mac cheese was bomb AF and I would get that again. I was sad when we received our order, the food was warm cold. The chicken was tender and not rubbery. I would come here again and try it, however I wouldn't go out of my way. If I'm in the area I will.

Service was blah. Food was good, fries were great. Portion was small and price was big. Was not worth the 20$. At least have the tender cover the bread. If you only want to serve 1 tender, then make a wrap, it's def not enough for a sandwich. Super disappointed because the photos and posts all look so good- but definitely not what you get.

I haven't tried it yet, but on first impression not worth $10.99

It's located in the Beer Star lot which is pretty small and has limited parking, but parking in the area isn't too bad. It's nice that you can dine in at Beer Star with your Chicken Supply order! And Beer Star is pet friendly! We love seeing all the dogs that come to hang out, and can't wait to bring our dog one of these days. My boyfriend loves their chicken bites, but the thigh is my personal favorite. The wings are really good too, but I think they're too much work compared to the other 2 cuts. All of the chicken is perfectly fried. It's so crispy and light on the outside, while the chicken meat is juicy and flavorful. I wouldn't be surprised if they use MSG because the chicken is very addicting. I've tried a number of their sides but the garlic rice is my favorite. It's very fragrant if you love garlic! The loaded fries were good in the sense that the fries are very crispy and the toppings are very tasty. However, the toppings are sparsely drizzled over the top level of fries, so once you eat through that layer, you're left with regular fries. The collard greens were very tasty but I found them to be too salty to eat on its own or with the chicken; that being said, I think it goes really well with rice! Their pickles are flavored well and pair up so nicely with their fried items. The marinated veggies were okay. They are served cold and were my least favorite out of everything that I've tried. Overall, this is one of my new favorite places and can't wait to be back!
