This campground is just a few miles outside of Oshkosh Wisconsin. We stopped here for just one…read morenight on our way up to Door County. we weren't looking for anything spectacular just a place to sleep for the night. It was a little chilly and spitting rain, but we took a quick walk to take a look at the park. The area upfront seemed to have mostly long-term people in them and had full hook ups. It looked like quite a few people were here for the season as there were potted plants and such. We were able to get a pull through site, number 40 that had full hook ups. They do have trees so most of the sites were shaded in this particular area of the park. The backfield appears to be mostly back in spots and was just about empty. These sites look like they are sewer and water only so I'm assuming they are some sort of overflow for all the airshows and events that happened in Oshkosh. The front building is actually a bar. I'm not sure if they serve food, maybe, but you go there to check in. The bar looks like fun, but as it was raining, we did not visit that evening. I will say that the public buildings, while we did not use them as we are completely self-contained, honestly looked a little scary. There's literally insulation viewable from the outside, a bucket sitting outside the door, just didn't look like anything we would want to use. They did have some kids stuff, including a bounce pad and there seemed to be a few children enjoying the park. Everything worked fine at our site, we did pay $75 a night, which is quite pricey for what this park is. The manager was very nice, we did not have any issues at all as far as people being Kind.

We arrived about 5pm ish. Woman came out asa we rang the bell, seemed very friendly, checked in the first room, we asked if we could all be on the same floor, Seemed to take her a long time to verify this, while were waiting, the other guy came in and started checking in two other couples, w/in min they had their keys and were heading to their room, meanwhile we are still waiting. Finaly she gets the first room done, then were told we would have to wait for the other two rooms as they still were not cleaned by this time is was 6 pm! She stated while she was working on our first room, the guy right next to her gave the other two rooms to the other two couples that had came in, I mean this is how fast he was and how slow she was, obviously no communication between them, I mean we reserved these rooms over a week in advance. She stated they had a big sports group the night before and they checked out late which is why they were behind. Not sure how that is my fault? Wonder what they were going to if we had arrived mid morning! When i expressed my displeasure she literaly stated "well I dont know what you want me to do about it"! Then the same guy comes out from the back and asks if she checked with the cleaning crew and I'm not kidding w/in minutes we were being assigned rooms, not on the same floor but at least we had rooms. Then he offered us a free snack from their little snack room, not much but at least HE offered something! Then to top it off we all had to give a cc or dc for a $100 to be put on hold for incidentals! We prepaid our rooms when we reserved them and no one once stated that would be needed! Finally get to our rooms. Mine has slight smell to it, peeling wallpaper by the windows. The curtains had holes in them that are clearly noticable when closed where daylight came through. But for me the worst was the bed, springs! So uncomfortable, I finaly gave up and finaly went and slept on the small sofa, at least it was more comfortable if too small. Unfortunately it was the same for all of us. This will be the last time we stay here.

A tornado in 2018 took quite a few trees, but slowly but surely new trees are growing up. I love the idea of having everything ready for the week or weekend and just driving out, putting the awning out and you're ready! This is a seasonal only campground - no weekenders. Although if you have friends with a camper there MAY be room for a weekend. Right now the campground is pretty full. There are quite a few people who winter in Florida or the Southwest who spend the entire summer here. Are there rules? Of course ther are! Any campground has to have rules. No fireworks, drugs, respect your neighbors, cut your grass, keep your campsite looking nice, etc. Simple, really. There is a quiet time, but we barely make it past 11 on most nights. You can't beat sitting next to a campfire with your friends. It's our "home away from home." It feels like we're in the northwoods, but our drive from home is pretty short, but it feels like a world away.

The Osthoff Resort is a historic resort that sits on Elkhart Lake and includes 500 feet of sandy…read morebeach along the lake's shore. I visited in December and it's not as noticeable or something that's a standout feature as it would be in the summer time. However upon arrival it looks very historic and old regal glamour. Parking is definitely old school with two small lots right in front only ... in the summertime it's probably not a big deal but wintertime it sucked. We had to park in another lot on the backside of the resort instead of in the front two lots right outside the lobby -- which made it a bit more difficult if you had heels on and had to walk a ways from the car to the hotel with the snowy icy ground. The rooms were veeeeery old school and in need of renovation. The wood didn't match -- from the dresser to the doors to the bathroom vanity. Flooring was really old and carpet was stained in many areas. Water damage on ceiling and the bed was quite stiff, not comfortable at all. Our room was very drafty which made it difficult to lounge without have a good pair of warm sweats or jacket. I wouldn't have been pleased if I was staying here for a long period, luckily my stay was just one evening. The bartender was very very nice -- she was personable and tried her best to change the channels on one of the TVs to what I wanted to watch. She was quick with the drinks and made them to my liking. The front desk staff were also very pleasant and friendly. They were quick with the check in and check out process as well. Overall I was underwhelmed with this resort. Perhaps winter is just not the time to visit as there is not much to do in the tiny town and the Christmas market that happens across the street honestly wasn't anything superb (we have several Christmas markets in the Twin Cities which are MUCH more superb to this one). Perhaps the summertime is the best time to visit to enjoy the true beauty of the surroundings which may make up for the old school regal of this resort.
