I just got back from ALRECO and felt compelled to give Bob and his right hand man (sorry haven't caught the name yet) some positive vibes as well as a positive review. I don't get out there more than once or twice a year, but always find myself looking forward to each visit. As I told Bob today, this place is like a big amusement park! The products and tools are so fascinating to me, but the real gem is Bob himself. He is such an interesting individual and if he has the time is happy to talk to me. I don't do any kind of high volume, just little pieces and bits. Bob and his partner are always willing to work with me anyway. Today I needed some angle cuts on a couple of corners of a piece, and although they do not normally do cuts like this, they found a way to give me exactly what I was looking for. I've always felt the prices were more than fair. I don't know where else you can walk up and say "I need X, Y, and Z" and they make it happen, you pay your money, and get on with the rest of your life. There's a lot of value in convenience! Best metal yard ever, this place is a gem. Been coming here for years hope it stays in business for a long time

There are very few places who haven't lawyered up & prohibit browsing. Not these guys. They are very helpful & knowledgeable. Prices can't be beat for aluminum. If you want warm & fuzzies, go to a shrink. They'll help you find what you want & give you advice on material if you ask. Show some respect & get some back. Have been coming to this guy the better part of my life and same for my fiancée. This place is not for someone to hold your hand while you shop, you find what you need, ask to get it cut if needed, weigh it and move out. Bob is an amazing and knowledgeable person and we have NEVER had an issue in over a decade. This is a place for true do-it-yourselfers, engineers, farmers and motivated people. If you're feelings get hurt easily, don't bother coming, they wont hold your hand. They have an excellent selection, reasonable prices and always helpful, but again, they wont figure out your project for you. Highly recommended! read more

This is a metal yard not Starbucks. The person who gave this 2 stars is way way off base. This is one of the best metal yards in the country. The owner Bob is one of the most knowledgeable aluminum guys you will ever meet. The prices are excellent! They sell conventional alum extrusions as well as specialty alloys. Have bought stuff here for decades. Bob is very helpful and many times has been willing to cut pieces without charging extra even though he is supposed to. If you want over priced finished pieces of metal go to ace or home depot. That review is ridiculous and from a person who probably had a bad caramel macchiato for breakfast. Maybe if that other reviewer had ever been to a metal yard before they would actually have an appreciation for how incredible ALRECO really is. I'm being generous with the 2 stars. 1 just seems extreme, I guess. However, if you care AT ALL about customer service and/or doing business in a timely manner, just skip this place altogether. The 'boss' is a little more friendly than the immature, disrespectful helper guy but still seems like he would rather smoke cigarettes and mosey around than help customers. The general attitude of everyone there is that of someone who doesn't really care if they get your business or not. Pricing is always unclear too. Changes every time. Asking questions feels like a major inconvenience to them, even though a lot of the material isn't out in plain sight. I don't care if they're cheap. I'd rather give my money to humans that know how to conduct a business and treat customers with respect. That is, after all, what you need to keep the doors open-- Customers! read more

If you make things from aluminum in the Denver metro area, you probably already know about Alreco - the Aluminum Recycling Company. If you've somehow missed them, you owe it to yourself to check them out. Good price, excellent stock (much of it in mill-new condition) at surplus / recycled prices. Bob, the proprietor, knows what he's about. I'm heading there this morning, and since they're an old favorite business, I thought I'd pop in here to give them the review they deserve. PS: Yelp needs categories for business which sell materials - Alreco isn't a "contractor", but I can't find a more suitable category in Yelp's rather short list. read more

Been going to Alreco for ~4 years and haven't had a bad experience. Sometimes they're busy and it'll take a bit to get the material but thats gonna happen anywhere. We've called up to order some pieces of plate that they had to cut and the parts have been ready next day, not sure where else could do that but I'm gonna venture most other vendors wouldn't do that without charging out the ears. If you need Aluminum this is the place to go, if you go to one of the other metal suppliers in the area chance are they're selling you marked up material from Alreco so cut out the middle man and head over to Alreco, if nothing else seeing their yard filled with Aluminum is pretty neat. read more

These guys were real easy to work with. I'm a woodworker and don't know much about aluminum, but these guys were very helpful and friendly. Been dealing with a lot of businesses lately that just don't care about you or your business, so it was a real joy to deal with Alreco. read more
