Had an extremely poor customer service experience at this location today. I purchased a current…read moredetector this week (along with about $500 in other items). I had some repairs I had to make while on a trip. The current detector did not work, in fact to a point it's a danger to someone if they blindly trusted it. I wanted to exchange for a better device. I figured no problem, right? Wrong... I didn't have a receipt, in fact I don't believe I was even offered a receipt, and if I was it definitely wasn't explained I wouldn't be able to return something without it. I honestly don't even think about returning things, it only happened because the device was defective. Look I get it, there's a lot of abuse and yes a receipt is important, but it's 2026 almost everywhere can look up a purchase on a card these days. It was more about the attitude and principle than anything else. There was no attempt to accommodate or even be decent. It would be one thing if I was asking for a straight refund, but I was upgrading to a $150 device (which I still purchased as I needed it). I was willing to show the device fault, but again no one cared. I love supporting small businesses, but this $23 device and poor service will have me going anywhere else and only back to Ace as a last resort. Thankfully Amazon ships here, just takes a few days longer. If I wasn't heading back home I would have just ordered it there. Hopefully in the future you'll find a better way to support your customers. I come here every year around this time and you were my go to location for parts. Next time I'll just wait it out for Amazon.

Everyone is so friendly here! Always willing to help. From now on this is the only place I'm…read morebuying paint, and everything else I need. Thank you ACE! Sharon

There are plenty of auto parts stores where a kid who's barely old enough to drive will read you…read moreendless questions from the computer screen in front of them to try and get you the right parts for your car, truck, or RV. In contrast, there are those rare auto parts stores with experienced staff behind the counter. Heck, just about anybody can sell you motor oil or wiper blades for your Prius, but how about taking the time to actually pull out a PAPER catalog to cross-reference a tiny indicator light bulb for a 28-Volt 1982 Cessna Turbo Skylane? These guys did that for me once, more than a decade ago. (Howard probably did about 20 minutes of work just to make a seventy-nine cent sale, all because I was in a jam.) Everyone at Steve's has always treated me more than fairly, and I will never forget that. My experiences with the Bishop NAPA started with a tiny light bulb, but they go much further than that: Want to rebuild a 1980's Chevy 1-ton truck after a previous owner did an unusual engine and transmission swap? Want to re-wire an aging fire truck? Need to get a really good quality auto repair specialty tool? Need to get an obscure part from the Cole-Hersee catalog that nobody stocks and you can't find on eBay, Amazon, or Craigslist? Steve's has helped me with all of these things when nobody else could or would. Better parts, better selection, fair prices, and great people behind the counter. That's why I believe that in Bishop, the NAPA store, i.e. Steve's Auto Parts, located at the south end of town on Hwy. 395, is one of those rare gems that has to be experienced first-hand to be appreciated. The people behind the counter: Howard, Big Dave, Joe, and the rest of the crew, all have that essential quality in parts counter personnel: They give a damn! There's no substitute for this, and there's no way to fake it. Sure, NAPA charges a little more, but the parts are better and the service is great, and if they don't have your part in stock, it's almost a sure thing that they can have it delivered to them on tomorrow morning's truck. (This is an important thing to remember if you break down in Bishop - just try getting THAT to happen at their competitors.) Walk through the front door, wait your turn politely if they're busy, and approach with a smile on your face when you're waved up to the counter. And for Chrissakes, don't act like an entitled a$$hole like so many of the tourists do, i.e. the ones who act offended when they find out that they can't return snow chains. (Howard and his crew probably deal with too many of these idiots every day. Who knows? You might get EVEN BETTER SERVICE if you don't act like one of those people.) So if you're looking for the best auto parts shop in Bishop, the NAPA store is the place.
