Aside from their incredible selection, they bring in a lot of private barrels of whiskey that you're unable to get anywhere else. The prices are very fair, not the cheapest in town, not the most expensive. The staff is very friendly. One of the great things about Riley's is their allocated lottery system. You don't have to be "in the know" to get hard-to-find whiskeys. You sign up on their email list, they email you when an allocated item is in stock, and you choose if you're interested or not. If you're interested, you're entered into a draw, and if you win, you get to buy it. This is a much more fair deal than other stores, where I've simply been told, "We have some long-time customers who will get that, you won't." Located a few blocks from the UW, this is a must-visit store. Don't forget what many do - there's an upstairs with a lot more than what's on the main floor. Cheers!

I travel to Madison for work and stay at a hotel nearby. I've stopped in a few times. The first time I was looking for a seasonal local brew made by New Glarus Brewing (Cabin Fever - SO GOOD!) and they didn't have it. I bought some Spotted Cow and enjoyed it. I came back a few weeks later and the owner (I think) remembered me and runs in back and pulls out a case of the Cabin Fever she'd ordered and saved for me! I was so pleasantly surprised! Since then I've returned a number of times! They have great customer service and are fairly priced for what I see in other parts of the state. The only reason I docked a star is I don't care much for the location, but I guess you can't always help that.
