For several years, I've been going over to another laundromat because it's literally next door to my chiropractor's, in the same building. But as I don't always need to go to my chiropractor, I'm thinking, "are there laundromats even closer to my house?"
Apparently, Alpine Laundromat is one such place. Additionally, not only is it reasonably close to my house (I only have to drive halfway across town, as opposed to the entire stretch of the town), but it's conveniently located right next door to a gas station/convenience store, as well as being only one and a half streets over from the YMCA. So the first two items on my day's agenda can easily look like this:
1) Workout at the Y
2) Post-workout lunch from Kwik Star and laundry time at Alpine Laundromat.
Here are some other reasons why, after just ONE visit, I decided I *really* liked this place:
A) LOTS of smaller tables and chairs, as opposed to maybe four larger tables plus one or two smaller tables at the other laundromat.
B) Cozy TV watching nook complete with sofas and comfy chairs if you're up for a bit of channel-surfing while your clothes are getting properly sudsy! (Just like home, only you have LOTS of washing machines available instead of just one!)
C) In case you're not keen on going over to Kwik Star and leaving your laundry, the Alpine laundromat has an all-in-one vending machine with BOTH snacks and drinks; they cost less than what the Maytag laundromat charges. Plus, you can get Coke & root beer, not just Pepsi products. Again, in my opinion, big improvement over the Maytag place.
And last but not least, who can forget the free WiFi?
Okay, as to the machine prices: I found that for the same large wash loads I was doing over at Maytag, I was paying about two or three dollars less at Alpine, collectively. But that was just my laundry. If I were to wash my parents' stuff, it might be the same amount of money spent, regardless.
What I especially like about the washers at Alpine (Speed Queen) is that there's not just "Hot," "Cold," or "Permanent Press," for temperature choices, you can also choose your soil level as well. This is helpful if you have items that get heavily soiled such as sports or food service uniforms, denim jeans or coveralls, etc. In my opinion, this level of choice gives customers their money's worth. You don't get too much choice beyond temperature control at Maytag.
Dryer prices are slightly different, in that Alpine has a set of larger dryers with special prices for the first 24 minutes, then reverting back to the original price. All other (smaller) dryers at Alpine have the same price. This, as opposed to Maytag, whose dryers are all *all* .25/6 mins. read more
