Being that this vehicle is a diesel, I knew there was bound to be some oil buildup around the base of the engine. After removing the Belly Pan, I was horrified at how much buildup was actually there. Years of sand and oil mix were caked up and polymerized from the heat of the engine. My mechanic had told me it wasn't that bad - this was pretty bad! Ruben quickly got to work and over the course of 2 hours, managed to take years of grime and buildup off the entire engine, transmission, steering rack, etc. Because of the level of buildup, he worked with me to focus on specific areas and manage expectations. In the end, I am speechless - it looks AMAZING! As a side note, I want to let folks know what can and cannot be done by CryoMode. Short distances and Line-of-Sight are the key. The CO2 blasting nozzle cannot go around corners and there is a limit of about 6 inches from the tip of the tool. Also of note, fluids (oil & fuel) cannot simply be blasted away. They won't freeze, but they will start to spread around from the pressure of the nozzle. My engine has a lip on the front that is visible from the top when the hood is open. Unfortunately, it is not accessible for CO2 blasting. After my appointment, I decided to put her up on ramps and clean the lip. I thought it was going to be a piece of cake. If Ruben cleaned 90% of the engine in 2 hours, I could certainly knock out this little piece in about 30 minutes, right? SIX HOURS! It took me six hours to clean that lip. I had nearly a half inch of sand and oil varnish buildup on the top. I used brake cleaner and an old toothbrush to remove the largest parts and the sludge. Towards the end, I could finally shift to blue roll paper towels to clean the bright metal surface. I can only imagine how much time this would have taken if I tried to clean the entire base of the engine myself. If you are in need of Engine Bay Cleaning, CryoMode is the place to get it done!
