Alphafit is a great gym. I'm new to weightlifting, and I appreciate that the coaches take their time to demonstrate and train you. The other members are also really supportive during classes. I definitely recommend working out here. read more

There are a lot of options when it comes to gyms but none quite like Alphafit. They are a community like no other. They push you, support you and help you succeed. I really would never have thought I would enjoy CrossFit but it challenges me and I really appreciate the accountability. Highly recommend. read more

Came to this gym after not being active for over 3 years during COVID. I had some CrossFit experience, but not much and coming back was hard. Coach Maria was really the one that kept me motivated and encouraged me the entire way. Now it's been 9 months and I absolutely love coming here. Initially I was coming 3 times a week, now it's around 5-6 times a week. Every single coach here is amazing. They care and take the time to help you in any way they can. They will show you 10 different ways to modify a movement and find one that you are comfortable with. If you are recovering from an injury, they will find something else you can do. They put your safety first and never force you to do something that can injure you. Will you feel sore a lot? Yes. Will you get pushed further than you thought you could ever go? Yes. You will be so impressed and encouraged once you commit and push yourself to do things you never thought you could and this is the place that will make it happen. Little by little I am seeing improvement. I started out not being about to do pull ups, now I can get a couple strict and several kipping. I couldn't do toes to bars, so I did knees to chest; now I am able to connect a few toes to bars and little by little I am able to do more of them unbroken. Everyone here is on their own journey and you will see a vast assortment of skill levels as well as people of all ages. I am so glad I decided to join, it has changed my life. I feel good about myself and have met so many good people. read more

I think this gym stands out from the others because of the following: the workout program is powered by NCFIT which is known for it's effectiveness, they have Echo bikes here - part of the top endurance machines in the industry, they use Myzone to track your heart rate real-time on the TV screen, they have classes everyday... even on a Sunday when most other gyms are closed that day, and this gym has great coaches that focus on your form and and technique. read more

I came here 3 times before writing this. I have never really done crossfit before until here (ok maybe once). I'm the variety workout type, meaning I do circuit training, hot yoga or kickboxing in the weekdays, and come here on Sunday mornings. Today 3/23 was their grand-reopening party and many clothing, diet supplement, meal prep vendors came. I even got a mini-facial! Everyone here is really encouraging and has that fighting spirit. It's the people that make the gym. This one has a warm supportive family. Besides amazing coaches (karina, mark, sal, all of them are), Another differentiator of the place is the super long workout on Sunday which is flexible. So, some people come and stay 1-1/2 hours, and some do the full 2 hours. The size of the gym is not big, not small. I classify it in mid-size as you will be working out with around 20-30 others. Schedule: they have early morning 5a, 6a (not for me) and a mid-day for the 626 housewives and lucky chaps who don't work at the time, and 4, 5, 6, 7pm for us worker bees. Saturday and Sunday at 9:30am. Classes: HIIT, and Crossfit What is the difference? HIIT is a series of 5-8 exercises and repeat those groups in a specified time such as 30 min, with no barbell. Crossfit varies. I'll describe one work out day. We warmed up arms, then short run, then doing around 4 to 5 different combinations utilizing the barbell 15 lb for women, 45 lb for men (add weights if needed), and then repeating that group maybe 3 times. After the WOD (workout of the day), there is extra workout, which could be abs or may be moving across the floor with Inch-works, squat walks, then Step Ups (or walk up for me) onto big box, then pull ups. This place is hardcore, because the workout can last 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours (depending on you). Equipment: for the elitis out there (my bf is snobby about the rowers), this place has high end Concept 2 rowers, Rogue pull up bars, bikes...forgot. Price: Compare this place to many crossfit gyms and it is super reasonable price. There is a 20 punch card pass that brings your daily visit to $17 each time which is the one I'm on. There are other plans too, monthly, etc. Most other crossfits gyms cost $150+ a month which is not in my budget. Pros: the trainers, people, large space, plenty of parking, good value Cons: they don't take credit card, only cash or bank card read more

Awesome smaller gym. I think what shines here are the coaches and the family mentality of the members. I am getting back into fitness after a massive brain injury. I trained heavily in a past life and have had a lot of trouble accepting the new body that has seemed to come overnight, after such a life changing event. I've dropped in at a few other gyms with getting back into a routine and immediately just felt... "on my own". The coaches here are attentive and very knowledgeable about how to accommodate everyone. Fitness IS for everyone and walking into a gym like this is a great reminder of that. Everyone has had to start from somewhere. The facility and coaches accommodate that. The range of the types of classes they offer are based on knowing as you progress through a journey, your abilities change and so will your needs for this type of training. They have done a great job. Thanks AlphaFit for making me feel like fitness IS for me... and even though I don't look like I live at the gym, I am welcome, any time-- at yours. It's a really good thing in this industry to know you won't go on a journey ...on your own. So keep up the good work! read more

Over a year ago this gym and it's awesome coaches motivated me to be the best that I can be. Now nearly 40 I'm in the best shape of my life. Thank you Alphafit!!!! read more

Me and my Hubby joined just recently at Alphafit CrossFit after moving into area 6 months ago. We received their free trail to come in and take classes. By the 4 th day we were sold. We became members because the friendly local community in there was amazing. All the gyms in the area, Alpha was definitely the right "AlphaFit"! Starting with staff and owners, they welcome us with open arms. The programming is right on. The programming is just right for anyone at any age. There are a variety of classes throughout the day to fit your work schedule. One thing I love about the most, is it is Family friendly. read more

The first time I stepped into the box, I felt like I could take on anything thanks to the coaches. I am a newb when it comes down to CrossFit, however the coaches help out a lot so I've began to gain confidence with workouts! The energy, the workouts, and the motivation that is brought at each class that I've attended became addicting! I've been here for about a month now, and I do recommend dropping in on a class. Shield CrossFit also has many special events for everyone to join in on, so stay on the lookout on their Instagram! read more

Hesitation, Fear, Doubt All of these feelings usually come when you try something new. The community at Crossfit Shield did their best to eliminate those feelings when I first tried out their gym. I wasn't new to the sport. Unfortunately, the gym I started at closed. A few of us came up with a plan to try out as many local Crossfit gyms as possible. We figured that after trying out a few, we would find the one that met our needs. For many of us, that plan failed. After trying out Shield for a complimentary week, many of us decided to stay. Personally, I knew after the first day that this was the gym for me. I'm a 27 year old single father that works a 9 to 5. I don't do Crossfit because I want to make the Games or win competitions. I do it to stay in shape and have fun doing it. It was evident after the first workout that many of their members share that mentality. Now pair that with amazing coaches, great equipment and an awesome kid's room. It was an easy decision to stay at Shield. I would recommend Shield to anyone interested in joining a community that supports and encourages each other. Not all Crossfit gyms are the same. Shield has found its niche by creating a supportive community. read more

Been going to Shield for several months. The people here are family. They don't make you feel out of place or not welcome. They work with you on what you can do. I'm really enjoying the people and their staff. If you are thinking about trying CrossFit, I highly recommend Shield. They work with all levels and make you feel like you're part of the fam. read more

I've heard the stories about Crossfit, good and bad. I never felt like I really could do it based on what I saw until my cousins told me nothing but good things about it. Then I met Jon to told me to come in for a free workout. I ignored it for a few months because I wasn't very comfortable with Crossfit yet. Then I thought "What the Hell. I'll give it a try." The first day was hell, however I may have done better if I didn't eat nachos and hot dogs every week. I was sore after the workout but it was good. Growing up in high school I was always somewhat fit. I played soccer and a track runner. I never lifted wights until I got a personal trainer years ago but it got expensive quick. Then I got back into my lazy slump. I get bored quick so nothing really peaked my interested until I joined SHIELD Crossfit. There is always something new to learn, and lots of things to improve on. The best part is the community. You have coaches that push you, supportive members and you hear the stories and goals of what people want to get out of it. It's pretty neat. I am extremely impressed with the quality of instruction, dedication and selflessness they have for their members. Cheers! read more

I have been going to personal training with Karina for a month now. She is excellent, knowledgeable and an experienced trainer. She is patient, kind and caring. She listens and keys off my movements and makes adjustments accordingly including increasing the levels of my training. Karina has helped me built my confidence back. A little bit of myself, prior to coming to Shield crossfit. I had been yo-yo training and working out on my own and visited a few local gyms. But I knew I needed an extra push. I had zero endurance and gained quite a bit of weight. Being in my mid 50's I knew I needed to do get back on track asap! Thankfully, I found Shield crossfit and I am on my way to feeling healthy, energetic and much more confidence. No matter what your age, weight or lack thereof of confidence take the first step and don't look back. Thank you Karina and Shield crossfit coaches for being supportive, encouraging and making working out a fun and challenging experience! read more

I got a Groupon deal for 30 days in November 2018, after that was up I stayed because everyone there was welcoming and provided a great environment. I just returned to Shield after taking almost five years off, and I waited to attend four classes before writing this review. Shield is an amazingly welcoming gym. The coaches and the athletes are all so friendly and encouraging. I am out shape but not for long. Great people, positive vibes and a community of people dedicated to their fitness goals and those of the shield fam!

I can't say enough about Shield. I joined exactly one month ago, and my husband has since joined with me. We have both tried out several Crossfit gyms in the SGV, and none of them have had the warm, supportive, family vibe that Shield has shown us. Coaches Sal, Miguel, CoCo, and Tina are all incredible and give you just the right amount of "push". They focus on teaching you the proper form with lighter weights, as opposed to other places I've been that just push you to lift heavy. Neither of us can afford to get injured, so we really appreciate that l. This is a smaller gym, but it allows the coaches to go one-on-one with you when necessary. I am happy to say that after years of searching, we have found our home gym. read more

Love this gym! My husband and I became members 5 months ago and everyone is so nice and helpful! Great workouts for building muscle

I been trying out a few Crossfit gyms lately an for me this place didn't really do it for me. It was way to small. I rather work out in a much bigger area even the gym. But I will say that the trainers there are very professional an very nice. A little pricey. But come to find out all Crossfit gyms are. read more

More than crossfit, more than fitness, its feels like a family that just wants each other to be a little bit better then the day before. If had sports injuries and was worried about crossift and also didnt want the ultra competitive environement. I was surprised to join after my wife recommended it and see that the coaches and staff give you the space mentally but always help while letting you get out of it what you what you want, if its just enjoying a work out or pushing yourself to the limits no one here judges. Its all good at Shield. read more

Honestly, I came back to Covina (my hometown) two years ago after traveling the world and absolutely despised the area because it was so boring. That was until I finally listened to my gut instinct to try out CrossFit, and got lucky to walk into SHIELD. SHIELD isn't an average, ordinary gym. This place has transformed my life for the better because of all that they offer: great atmosphere, amazingly unique coaches, the members make you feel so welcomed even if you're an absolute stranger, they constantly encourage you to pursue better habits both in the gym and outside of the gym, the inspiration they provide for their little ones in the children's room, the laughter and good times they provide. All quality values that not all gyms are capable of providing. This gym transforms you in a better being and changes your mindset. I speak from personal experience. I have now been in Covina for 2 years and can say that becUse of SHIELD, I love this area. I have something to go to after a long, stressful day of work and work on myself, both physically and mentally. I HIGHLY recommend this gym. read more

I first came across SHIELD CrossFit at Wingate Park. That's right, a PARK. No box to their name at that time. I liked them on Facebook and began following their growth. Quite the journey SHIELD! While I'm not a member of SHIELD CrossFit, I am a strong supporter of what they've done, what they stand for and their growing success. If you live in the area or you're just visiting, consider SHIELD. Check out their story! http://shieldcrossfit.com/ read more

Joined Shield Crossfit back in sept of 2013... It's an amazing box. I had to cancel due to changes in my work schedule etc but found that I couldn't stay away. That cancellation lasted only a month. Shield Crossfit is a great box that has coaches that actually care to help its members. Everyone is like family and are happy to work out together. I'm back and glad to be back ... smaller box but a lot of equipment and a very nice coach - the two important things of a drop in. Did a drop in on Monday and class was small but the coach paid attention and gave pointers on how to improve. I ahve been to some boxes where they don't really care that much since you are a one timer. great experience. read more
