We talked and i got some helpful interview tips, and got an interview (and ultimately the job where I am now) with a financial services company. I had a pretty good experience overall with the company, and would recommend checking them out if you are in the market for a job. One thing that could be improved on was follow-through, especially towards the end of the hiring process. I basically had the job in hand, but was waiting for confirmation...and I followed up with Core, but did not hear anything back. Perhaps it was the hiring company that dropped the ball, but it was a bit concerning that i basically had the job, but didn't have a specific start date nailed down. The hiring compnay stepped in and all was well, but keep that in mind. That may be how things go in these type of situations, so keep that in mind. Still, I would recommend Core and Catherine in particular. Good luck with your job searches!

They consistently called me with assignments tailored to my abilities and interests. Then, somewhere around the time the economy tanked, that changed dramatically. I would call and e-mail recruiters for weeks to no avail. I assumed their lack of response was due to the overwhelming number of candidates that were contacting them. Given the fact that I had worked for them previously and they were familiar with my abilities, I was still surprised when I talked to recruiters who promised to get back to me and never did. If they had no openings, that was never conveyed to me. Several months later, I got a call and accepted an assignment that I was eventually pulled off of with no warning or explanation, an action that strangely coincided with my daring to ask whether the company planned to hire me permanently or not. To add insult to injury, Custom had the nerve to ask me to return the company ID (which I'm sure could have been deactivated without my having to schlep it to them) before a holiday weekend, dangling my paycheck as a carrot unless it was returned. Totally ridiculous and unprofessional. To be honest, I'm sure the only reason they contacted me about this job in the first place was because no one else wanted it, a fact that was revealed to me within the first week.

I moved here needing a job in a hurry. I had been sending out my resume, cover letter and filling out applications for weeks prior to my move and still nothing. RJL's Cris and Jullian TRULY went above and beyond. They quickly interviewed me to see what my interests were, to check out my resume, (even guided me on fixing it to maximize my search results), HELPED ME WITH WARDROBE. We literally went out to buy clothes for my interview. They prepped with me before each interview and made me feel so at ease. I had gone to two other employment agencies prior to RJL who ensured they would find me something quickly, asked me a few questions, offered temp work and then sent me on my way. But that was the end of it, never heard from them again. Waste. Of. Time. I am so thankful for Cris and Jullian at RJL. They are so incredibly kind and make something incredibly intimidating, very approachable. Do yourself a favor and go to them to help you with your job needs in NYC. You won't regret it.

I experienced a wide range of responses anywhere from constant email newsletters to never hearing back from the company. It wasn't until I was referred to RJL Resources that I started making progress in the job hunt. I was immediately made to feel that not only would I be a valuable asset to them, but that they would do everything they could to be an asset to me. RJL Resources helped distinguish me from the sea of other job applicants out there by taking time to really learn my strengths and skills and what I wanted in my next position. Bob and his team made sure that I didn't feel pressured into accepting a job just because they call me to offer it. They wanted to make sure any position I took felt right for me. They responded quickly and dependably to all of my communication with them and I received a call about a possible position only hours after our first meeting. They were able to get me into interviews quickly and gave me advice on what each company was looking for and how to best present myself. Afterward, they kept on top of the status of my applications. Through RJL Resources, I was able to get a temporary position in a high-end hedge fund that I never would have been able to find or interview for on my own. Through my time in this role, payroll and other support from RJL has continued to be quick and dependable. The position I'm in has just gone permanent and I want to thank Bob and everyone else at RJL Resources for helping me make it here and for making it so easy.

Lindsay emailed me asking if I could come in for an interview, and when I saw the job title "Director of Legal Division, Recruiting", I decided to google the company.... which is, of course, when I learned that they are a staffing agency. In general, I don't like to deal with folks who aren't upfront and this felt like a red flag but I scheduled an interview because I felt like it couldn't hurt to go see what they're about. (It is worth noting that I was asked to bring two forms of ID for payroll and that felt shady too.) I used that opportunity to for a bit more about the position via email and was told that it was in the early stages and that they needed more information themselves. Um, what? At that point, I became ill and had to reschedule the interview. I sent another email requesting more information. Lindsay said she would "try her best" to obtain it, but that I would need to come in anyway. Finally, I composed a professional but stern email, basically calling them out and stating that the lack of transparency was making me uncomfortable, and that I needed to know exactly what was on the table. At that juncture, I received a lengthy email explaining that yes, I applied to the Office Manager position, but that they have two to three available and would need ID because they're temp to perm, and the agency issues your pay for the first three months. She copied and pasted an example of a job description she was referring to. I wrote back thanking her for the clarification but never received a response. Though she was very nice, I feel like there was dishonesty from the very start, and that I had to do a lot of insisting and digging to get any actual facts. It doesn't make me feel like they'd be very useful in placement, negotiation, or back up - and at that point, I'm better off on my own.
