I worked directly with Mark Raskin as a first-time homebuyer, and unfortunately my experience was…read morevery disappointing. The most frustrating part was not my credit score itself, but the lack of proactive guidance. Before my mortgage application, I believed my credit score was much higher than it actually was. Once my credit was pulled, it became clear that there was a significant gap between my expectations and reality. However, I was never proactively informed about the situation, its impact on my mortgage options, or potential remedies that might have been available. I later learned about rapid rescore through my own research rather than from my lender. Given my credit profile, this was something I believe should at least have been discussed. Instead, I remained unaware of important information that could have affected my decisions during a very time-sensitive period. When I later reached out with questions, I did not feel supported or educated as a first-time borrower. Conversations often felt rushed and dismissive, and I was repeatedly told that I could simply refinance later. While refinancing may be an option in the future, it is not free, effortless, or a substitute for helping borrowers understand all available options before closing. As a first-time homebuyer, I expected more proactive communication, guidance, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

This business can really pull things together in a pinch and provide personalized service where I…read moredon't think larger chain banks and lenders would be able to. I have been a Colonial customer for years due in no small part to the fact that they service their own mortgages so your loan won't be sold around in investment packages constantly with you not knowing who owns the note to your home from year to year. They have been consistent with my escrow account to where adjustments were not needed as well. My main reason for this review though is that we just closed on buying a new home and used Colonial again. Things were getting shaky as to whether we were going to close on our home on time and we felt like our home deal might fall through if our closing got delayed. I contacted the company vice president John Farrell and things started flying faster than could ever have been expected by my wife and I. After a few whirlwind days we ended up closing on time and are very excited to be moving into our dream home. I don't think that if we were doing business with one of the "Too Big to Fail" banks that we could have received this kind of assistance and we would definitely recommend going with Colonial for anyone's mortgage needs.

I cannot say enough good things about Pat Hartis - my loan officer at Colonial Mortgage. Although…read moreI live in Austin, I called the main # and was lucky enough to be connected to Pat. I had been in process of refinancing my house with another lender, but it wasn't working out as expected and taking too long, so I cancelled that loan. I was a Colonial customer - had my current mortgage with them, but my earlier experience with the loan officer assigned to me in an Austin office left a lot to be desired. I'm glad I took a chance and called the main # in Fort Worth. Pat took all the info over the phone, locked in my rate that day, had the papers sent to my home that week. She set up the closing at the nearest Colonial location to my office, where Susan Mills (the title agent) did a great job of completing all the paperwork with me over my lunch hour. The entire process, from the first phone call to the closing, took 24 days. Everything went so smoothly, and I attribute that to Pat's expertise and knowledge. I have been through several home mortgages and refinances with other properties in the past, and this was the absolute best experience I have had to date. No matter where you live in Texas, if you need a loan officer, I would recommend giving Pat a call - you can find her phone # on the Colonial Mortgage website. All loan officers are not "created equal" - Pat is exceptional!!!

Our situation required some extra research and effort, and they truly went above and beyond to help us get everything figured out. In our first meeting, Kimi made the time to connect with us after the 5pm hour because of our work schedules. Kimi then answered all our questions and walked us through the home-buying process from start to finish. As first-time home buyers, this was incredibly important. I always felt like my questions were heard and I was provided clear and consistent communication. Also, Kimi took the time to create several different projections that worked within our budget. Each conversation I had with Kimi showed me the level of care she had for her client's needs and that she was always willing to be transparent and honest about next steps. Throughout our home-buying process, I worked with a few people on the Kimi Does Mortgages team. Each person I connected with had the same level of respect, support, and attention to detail that Kimi provided in our first meeting. I specifically had many conversations with Lily in the later stages of our home-buying process. Lily has been a great resource to me and my wife she always took the time to walk us through all the different mortgage language and helped us to truly understand the numbers on the many documents we had to review. Lily went above and beyond to pick up the phone or give me a prompt message back whenever I had questions. We had one issue obtaining a document from my wife's work. We mentioned this to Lily, and she immediately got creative and provided us with some alternative options that helped us get the correct document. Also, I worked with Garrett a little and he was very nice. He provided streamlined communication to ensure the process was flowing on the appropriate timeline. We are so appreciative of all the work and countless hours that Kimi and her team put in to ensure that our home-buying process was as smooth as possible. When we started to look at mortgage companies, I had heard many horror stories about bad experiences, and I'm happy to report that because of Kimi and her team, we didn't run into any issues. Instead, we felt in control and supported each step of the process. Overall, if you are looking to buy a home I highly recommend you go with Kimi Does Mortgages. Her team is incredible and you will be grateful you chose to work with her.

In all the 2+ years I've known her, if she says she can do the loan, she delivers 100% of the time." That was all that we needed. We called her, gave her our scenario, and she told us she could do the loan. Our home contract had gone belly up when our previous lender had missed our closing date on December 9th. Linda and her incredibly experienced team worked diligently to get us in the home in record time. They even had roadblock after roadblock with the previous lender, including ethical issues that Linda coached us through. And she still managed to close on our house 10 days later. I still don't know how she did it, but she pulled out all the stops and made it happen, with the primary goal of getting our family in the house in time for Christmas. A wonderful group, and seriously, the best Loan Officer EVER. She completely has our loyalty! THE GOOD (Not all inclusive) Very quick response time Incredibly experienced Has Underwriter experience, so knows exactly how to package your loan for the UW Digital documents (via Docusign) Cares about her customers (as does the whole team) Large team = always covered when anyone is out of the office A trusted advisor Loan types: FHA, VA, CONVENTIONAL, JUMBO, USDA, BOND LOANS, TEXAS VET and many others All types of refinances, etc. THE BAD Not a darn thing!
